That bunt was just an awful decision, even if it would have worked. The potential for disaster with that bunt is too real, and the worst case scenario indeed played out. Yolmer bunted at ball 1. Yolmer couldn't dig himself out of the 0-2 hole. Abreu got walked, and then it was left to one of our worst hitters. The fans last night deserved better, they deserved to see their team go down swinging instead of giving pitches away. I've gone from neutral on Rick, to now not a very big fan. All I ask from Rick now is get these kids playing hard, playing the right way, and striving for the W every day. At that point hopefully we will have found a new manager.

How do you know he wouldn't have struggled even more if he didn't have those experiences? A guy having a 4.02 ERA at Charlotte. First of all if you basing a promotion based strictly on ERA, you are looking at the wrong things. It's more about how he handles the failures and set backs. Did most of that ERA come from the one really bad game he had and then he came back strong the next start? Ids the ERA more a product of the park being a hitters paradise than his performance. While the numbers are nice there is much more to look at when deciding when a player is ready. It's not true that they shouldn't be up here even if they need more than next season to learn the MLB game. In fact the opposite is true. Do you think Mocada learned anything from being up with the MLB last year even though he struggled? He looks better now than even earlier this year. Some player will even need to be sent down again to work on the weaknesses that they learned they had while at the MLB. They need to learn the MLB game and it may take some longer than others. If they are ready for the challenge of the next level of competition, you bring them to that level to see if they can handle it and what they may need to work on. It's all based on when the team thinks they are ready. If the team doesn't think they are ready they wait. However, if they think they are ready they shouldn't wait until next year just to save the service time.

It doesnt matter to me what gender your candidate is. And I guess the difference between you and I, is that whatever happened in the last election is the past. If Sanders won the Democratic nomination, Id support him and I would hope that others who may not believe he is their "best" champion, would understand that he is a far "better" champion than the other side. The next Presidential election is going to come down to a few states. The candidate I feel is best able to win those states is the one Id likely go with. While I would love to imagine a day where I wake up and everyone is cool to everyone else, that just is not going to happen in my lifetime. The problem is that local races in Iowa are going to be more nuanced than that....Obama won Iowa, he wouldn't be president (arguably) if he didn't win the Iowa caucuses in 2008, but Trump somehow won Iowa by almost 10%. In that election, you have to convince farmers and rural voters that trade policy fights with China (sorghum/soybeans/pork) are actually HURTING Iowa farmers rather than helping them. Second, health care/health care/health care. Third, all OR most of the benefits of the GOP tax cuts are being eaten up by rising health care costs and higher gasoline costs (caused by Trump constantly injecting uncertainty into world market and his Iran/Russia policies). Fourth, protecting Social Security and Medicare from the Paul Ryans of the world. Fifth, investments in infrastructure, education/vo-tech/job training and retraining. Sixth, the immigration issue has to be spun in a way of how those immigrants are taking jobs working in processing plants that ALMOST no local/native-born Iowa workers would ever want to do, slaughterhouses, etc.

Just looking through hitting stats this year (haven't gotten to pitchers yet) plus guys that I heard are towards the top of the draft Josh Jung 3B/SS Texas Tech - started showing more power this year and has a sub 1 K/BB ratio Bryson Stott SS UNLV - speedy SS with almost twice as many BBs as Ks; 29 doubles this year, so hopefully he adds the strength to put a few of those over the fence Andrew Vaughn 1B Cal - masher with high walks, low strikeouts; might be able to play an OF corner; not a prototypical size for a power guy Matt Wallner RF Southern Miss - definite corner OF with big power and at least average contact Drew Mendoza 3B FSU - intriguing power/contact profile at third, didn't make the jump this year, well thought of by prospect evaluators Michael Toglia OF UCLA - big power (college and cape); lot of walks and lot of strikeouts; may be playing 1B this year, but one evaluator said he is a definite corner OF Logan Davidson SS Clemson - reminds me of Jeremy Eierman in that he has speed & power but may end up at third; Davidson probably has better contact skills Adley Rutschman C Oregon State - good eye, good defense, developing power Will Wilson 2B/3B NC State - good power, improving eye; not much speed, so questionable range at 2B; young for grade so may have more development left Logan Wyatt OF Louisville - great eye and double power right now; could have a Trevor Larnach like rise if he gains more power Thomas Dillard C/OF Ole Miss - good power, good eye, good speed; not sure anything is plus; if he is a catcher he is much more interesting Shea Langliers C Baylor - good power, good eye, worryingly low batting average this year; apparently a good defender Braden Shewmake SS Texas A&M - showed great power/speed/contact/defense as a freshman but regressed this year; could be #1 pick, could be late rounds And then there are all the high school guys which perfect game has ranked. The big ones there seem to be Bobby Witt Jr as a potential 5 tool SS, CJ Abrams as a speedy SS with emerging power, Rece Hinds as a power hitting 3B, and Riley Greene and Jerrion Ealy as good hitters in the outfield. The two pitchers who's names I hear the most are HS LHP Hunter Barco and TCU LHP Nick Lodolo. Pretty nice that the top 2 guys right now are both lefties and the top HS hitter seems to be an exciting tooled up SS.

The NBA is a noncompetitive sports league. I have no idea how it draws viewers. One player out of 12 makes such a difference. Nothing matters other than the talent on the floor. Coaching is overrated. They are just adult babysitters. It is the most predictable sport in the world. You don't even really have to play the games, which defeats the purpose of sports. Chalk(best team on paper) wins 99% of the time. It didn't used to be this way, but it is now. Boring. zzzzzzzzz. Every year I try to get back into the NBA, which used to be my favorite sports league. Every year I continue to be disappointed. No more.

Holding them back a few extra weeks is a bit different than for 2/3 of a season. I'm all for bringing them up when they are ready. But if that still has not come to Chicago by spring training next year, then yes, at that point I absolutely will be all for leaving them down for those extra couple of weeks.

Except a few ex Packers have come out and said that he was difficult to get along with. Rodgers also blew off a lady who had cancer at an airport despite Rodgers knowing she was going to be there. Cutler did so much under the radar charity work but because he didn’t smile and yell more, he wasn’t well thought of. Playing for a tie when you're 13-30, have just won 3/4 (after not winning two games in a row for AGES) and playing one of the 3-4 worst teams in MLB is just asinine. Shows zero confidence in your hitters to get the job done. In front of a home crowd who just witnessed the 2nd/3rd no outs debacle and a player getting pulled for apathy/indifference. (And yeah, Fathom's point about pulling Thompson for Palka there defensively was dead-on as well...it wasn't a tie game or 1-2 run lead)

Their development has nothing to do with being on a cellar dweller. It has everything to do with giving them the best path to be the best player they can be. The promotion has nothing to do with the current Sox team. It would be to have kopech learn how to get out mlb hitters and for jimenenez to hit mlb pitchers. While the griffey example is a stretch. Your example assumes Jimenez will follow the path of Bryant. There is a good possibility that in 2019 he will fail and need to go back the the minors. This may preclude him being ready by 2020. See Rizzo for this. If he is ready now. Bring him up now. Let him fail now and learn for next year. Just because he fails doesn't mean he isn't ready for the challenge.

They shouldn’t be called up until a couple weeks into next season to get the extra year of control when the White Sox are supposed to be good. Giving up that year for both guys just to see them perform for a horrible team is worse than signing Moustakas for 1 year and giving up a second round pick. All of you tankers who think these guys need to be called up ASAP, are talking out of both sides of your mouth. Leave them down, see you next year. They will get over it.

You brought it up, so you tell me what I did that was so wrong. ... The first time I saw the male in high heels and dress (I have no idea if he was a cross dresser or transgender; he wasn't pulling the look off well) I was in the Subway when the person came in, and ate and did not leave or even hurry my dining in order to leave. I just sat and ate. I didn't chat her up, but I almost never have chatted up anybody I don't know when dining alone in a fast food place. Last two times I did it I got rejected. A taco place screwed up my order and gave me an extra burrito and two extra tacos (all I wanted was a burrito and one taco and drink) and I asked a family if they wanted a burrito and they looked like I was trying to rob them. Heaven forbid I not want to waste food. Second time I was at Chipolte and ate about 1/3 of a bag of chips and asked some peeps if they wanted any chips and they looked at me like I was holding them up. ... Second time I was pulling into Subway and saw the guy in high heels and a dress walking into subway and I elected to pull away and not go in. I didn't attack the person; I didn't offend the person. She did not see me make the decision to pull away. I decided I was not up for dining with somebody I found so unattractive. If that makes me horrible, I hope God forgives me. Sorry I didn't do the right thing and go in the restaurant and eat there again. I did the wrong thing in sharing this story as life is supposed to be one big picnic, all the time. Why would they pay him that kind of jack just to assure losses? You could pitch Fathom and accomplish that for 500,000 a year. It makes no sense to acquire Soria so we'd be sure to lose more, though that in fact was and is a certainty. It's kind of a stretch, IMO to think they'd pay that much money just to make sure we lose. No way he was going to be a flip candidate. He's past that stage of his career. He's just independent league fodder right now. Sox talent evaluators should be worried about their jobs after acquisitions of Soria and Shields.

I hope he never returns to the big league club until it's deemed he has big league stuff and big league command. I guess if he's as bad as our current bullpen guys, he could be turned into a middle reliever. But please, never bring him up to the parent club again, unless his arm proves worthy.
