  2. Hawk being a fan of the team is what I miss the most. For Stoney and Benetti, it's a paycheck. Hawk was relatable because he suffered through the same shit we did as fans and you could hear it in his voice. That's not to say Hawk was perfect, but I'd rather have a fan of the team I'm watching announce games. I think that's the one thing from Benetti that I can't quite get used to is how his emotion seems so forced. I like some of the analytics he brings to the game, but I'm not sold on him.

  3. I don't mind Yolmer, was a huge fan of his as a prospect but I get the vitriol towards him because he's a symbol of the offseason failure. He should be a bench guy, but instead he's starting again.

  4. The board is so full of baseball stupid now it's hard to imagine Cubs fans being so reactionary and idiotic. Yolmer was another 2.0 WAR guy and look at all the venom spewed at him today.

  5. I know you can probably file this in the "too early to panic" file but if Hahn really wants to make a statement, you fire Ricky before the home opener. Period. End of story.

  6. Home announcers should be homers. Hawk was right.

  7. The Sox sucked for most of Hawk's broadcasting tenure. The difference is that Hawk got really cranky about 10 years ago, especially with regard to the umps. Other times, he'd just sulk and not say anything. He also began going overboard with the Hawk-isms around the time they won the WS, to the point where he became something of a caricature of himself. So, yeah, it's hard to be a good announcer when you're so emotionally invested, but Hawk changed a lot as he got older.

  8. No, common sense says: Eloy Jimenez has done all he can in the minors Spring training is practice games 4 games is 2.5% of the season Everything else is a fabrication on your part.

  9. I’m annoyed that he pitched Herrera down 2 and up 4 and then couldn’t use him when leading by 2. Again, I don’t care about wins or losses. What I do care about is the manager not making foolish decision after foolish decision every game (and knowing that he has job security we could only dream of).

  14. You know you suck when you're getting pinch hit for Ryan Cordell. How the mighty have fallen already for Palka.

  18. No, it's not "common sense" to use Spring Training stats and a 4 game sample size of someone's approach to claim that he isn't MLB ready. You act as if he's swinging and missing at every pitch. He's making some good contact and just isn't finding holes. He'll be fine

  19. Ugh. This is so ridiculous. Why would anyone expect a 21 year old rookie to be a finished product? Maybe being on the roster all year last year will help him be better this year, and in the future.

  20. Imagine defending Covey coming in an 8th inning hold situation.

  21. You know Hahn is on the phone with Erstad as we speak, everyone calm the f down

  22. Well you also need to make sure that you have one of them available if you are winning Sunday or Monday. I know Ricky isn’t used to winning, but this was just a lack of having any understanding of managing a bullpen. In the grand scheme of things, as long as Ricky gets fired after this year, nothing else matters. He is a total joke.

  32. This is all Yolmer's fault. The inning would have been completely different had he made that catch.

  41. I have the same attitude towards Yolmer and I know it isn't fair. It isn't like he is horrible. He is average, sometimes slightly above and many times, slightly below. It's just what he represents that sours me. He is considered a White Sox developmental success story, and he is at best average. I get he dumps water on himself, but any other team, he's just some guy with a good sense of humor. The other thing he now represents is Machado failure. So every time he steps up, I am reminded how the Sox couldn't afford to build a winner when JR is 92 or 93 so they had to come in second for Machado.
