Why don't we look at the 2018 fWAR leaders and their starts Betts - first 197 games .818 OPS Trout - first 179 games .911 OPS Ramirez - first 180 games a .644 OPS Bregman - first 204 games .818 OPS Lindor - first 99 games.835 OPS Yelich - first 206 games .765 OPS Chapman - first 84 games .785 OPS Machado - first 207 games .744 OPS Rendon - first 98 games ,725 OPS Martinez - first 166 games .705 OPS Arenado - first 133 games .706 OPS Cain - not comparable never a really good hitter Simmons - not comparable never a really good hitter Baez - first 222 games .680 OPS Freeman - first 177 games .784 OPS So basically of the top 13 offensive WAR players only 4 of them started out hitting over .800 OPS4 points

I've written letters to JR for years and I always received a response from him. But when I wrote him a letter requesting to be interviewed for the White Sox Gm job, I didn't receive any response from him. Maybe he's keeping my letter on file and he will eventually get back to me. I'm still open to being the White Sox GM. If I become the White Sox GM , I promise all White Sox fans the greatest fun ride in modern White Sox history. I WILL MAKE THE WHITE SOX GREAT AGAIN!!!!4 points

And his K-rate and his line drive rate and so on. To be fair though, if you were alive back then you would say that Joe DiMaggio‘s average is plummeting and in free fall one day after his hitting streak ended.3 points

If he's being pulled after 84 pitches and 4 IP, the organization likely wants him to save innings in the minors so he can pitch throughout September in Chicago. Calm down.3 points

That's why I despise the draft and tanking for baseball's draft. What a joke.3 points

Interesting if Engel was sent down. That should be it for his career. Baseball can be cruel. Mr. Engel can sure field, but can't hit a lick. Another big league hopeful bites the dust (I realize nothing was expected of him as a 19th round pick).2 points

He is that's why everybody just needs to boycott the Sox. I wish they didn't have one single fan in the stands. and one single person watch on TV! That's obviously never going to happen but I wish it would.2 points

They’ve gotten a little smarter at how they try and mask their incompetence. Used to be we were told about “three year plans” as a way of explaining away current ineptitude while kicking the can down the road. Now we have a “rebuild”, which is conveniently open-ended. Why lock yourself into figuring out how to fix this mess of an organization in three years when you can just call it a rebuild and let it go on indefinitely, all the while the massive profits pile up for ownership.2 points

Anyone sick of these Sox jerseys at this point? They've gotten stale. Go back to the sleeveless home whites or start wearing the the baby blues from the Melton era2 points

I love when people say we should release players with options. Learn the rules.2 points

Also Sox worst tendencies are spending way too much draft capital on college pitchers with low velo repertoires.2 points

Great post cws....Adams and Stephens just don’t have the fastball to get major leaguers out2 points

Any other org this mess with the roster and underperformance by the pitching would have had a few people gone. Honestly coop needs to step away. Do it graciously, but it needs to be done. Honestly until the sox are owned by baseball people this will be the story. I'm sorry but this team has been ran by incompetence all these years. Kenny has to be the first incompetent. He's just clinging to 05. I bet if he's even gone from the sox he doesn't get another ML job. Enough is enough.2 points

Abreu has driven both our runs so let’s blame him for us losing. Let’s get a grip on reality please2 points

At some point...a long series of injuries and failed prospects cannot be considered bad luck. We're not to that point yet, but we're on the edge of it. For example - it could be that acquiring pitching prospects en masse is fundamentally flawed because you can't develop them or keep them healthy. It could be that you acquire talented players but you neglect the training and development staff and facilities, causing a lot of injuries at all levels. It could be that your scouting department is weak and that even though you thought you were getting decent players, you were getting schooled by other GMs who specifically gave you guys that they were only willing to part with because their former teams thought they were likely to bust or get hurt.2 points

As hardcore fans... most of us follow the teams day to day struggles during the rebuild. Bad pitching and lack of hitting frustrate us beyond words. Frustrating to look forward to the game only to have it be over in the third inning. My question....what can JR due to make the game interesting while this is going on? The stadium is empty and not many are watching. Bill Veeck was someone that understood that baseball needed to be entertaining even if not good. When hardcore fans are bored it can't be good for the long term health of the organization. Hey Jerry...DO SOMETHING!1 point

The hit tool is fine and is probably one of his strong points. The way FG does the current ratings is to kind of have a base case for the level and then put 5 (or rarely 10) above or below that level. For HS hitters, a 25 current hit means its a plus tool because the base for high level prospects is a 20. If its someone who they have questions on the hit, they will have a current 20 and then a below 50 future. For college players the base is a 30 with most being at most 5 above or below that. When you take all of that into consideration you can better understand their ratings. For example, Vaughn only has a 40 current hit which you would think is low, but its actually the best because its two levels (10 total) above the base of 30. It is also reflected in his higher future rating. On the other hand, Bishop and Abrams both have a 25 current hit, but Abrams hit is considered a strength while Bishop's is considered a weakness. That is because Abrams is above the usual for HS guys while Bishop is below the usual for college guys.1 point

Eloy is a month into his ML career so let's take it easy there. He's going to be a really good hitter for a lot of years. As for Yoan, he didn't necessarily dominate MILB if I remember correctly.1 point

Don't worry man Zach Burdi, Tyler Johnson, Ian Hamilton, Matt Foster, and Alec Hansen are on the way. I've been told by other posters that these guys are some of the most elite relief pitching prospects in baseball.1 point

The Cardinals wore their baby blues yesterday at Wrigley and they were sweet. Sox wore these in 2005 and were pretty slick (see picture of Pierzynski bat flipping): https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.southsidesox.com/platform/amp/2005/12/19/204342/56 They also wore these throwbacks about 8-10 years ago, maybe even more recent: https://hoodshoes.com/mens-majestic-chicago-white-sox-14-paul-konerko-authentic-white-red-strip-mlb-jersey.html1 point

Covey pitched well today, kinda got himself into trouble here and there, but his stuff looked sharp. Covey is one of these guys who could figure it out and become a cromulent #4-#5 or a decent reliever. I don‘t think it is likely at all, but he has the stuff to pitch at this level.1 point

I mean not really. Do you not want the youth involved in baseball and the White Sox specifically? I think it is important for parents to know the organization is offering this1 point

He actually should be a hero. White Sox fans like to complain. He's given us many reasons. Rick reminds me of the guys that used to make Dick Vitale's all airport team. Guys who looked good at the airport but couldn't play worth a damn. Rick is a bright guy, talks a good game, makes everything seem to make a lot of sense, and then loses, and loses, and loses. He looks and sounds the part, but the evidence suggests he should be doing something else.1 point

He once generally mangaged a team that wound up only 16.5 games out of first place. Hasn't been back to that level, but what do you want only in his 7th season.1 point
