  1. Oh man, there has to be a section in the stands that dresses up like nerds and is called "The AV Club"

  2. He hits lefty correct? A left handed hitting OF who can play the RF position is specifically one of our needs on the big league squad also.

  3. But people were saying that he was no longer a prospect?

  4. Rutherford triple. Another multi hit game for him.

  6. This is the blueprint game to not retain RR at end of year.

  7. WAR for RP/CP is stupid to lean on. Idk why this is even being debated.

  8. He's going to see a big uptick in performance when he goes to Charlotte. If I am the Sox, I get him there by the end of the year. Pump the trade value in case.

  9. I'm getting kind of worried about our top three picks. What happens if they don't sign?

  12. Yeah, none of this is happening but good story bro.

  13. Reading these game-threads after the fact sure is a trip. It's like half of you have amnesia and are just discovering that the starting pitching is utter trash other than Giolito. Games like this are the norm when 4/5 of your rotation is flotsam. Expect plenty more of this the rest of the season when someone other than Gio is on the slate. There is nothing in Charlotte other than Cease and retreads like Detwiler. This was always going to be another rebuilding season, especially after the TJ plague hit the pitching crop. Props to the folks in this thread who are level-headed and have quality contributions and make it fun to read despite the swell of shit-posts. You know who you are.

  14. He's not a prospect. He's the son of an employee. Typical White Sox bullshit using the draft as a god damn favor bank. The draft is there to find big leaguers. You wanna do this guy a favor. Give him free tickets to a game. This is why other organizations laugh at the White Sox.

  15. Caufield...either way, what does any of this have to do with Andrew Vaughn signing. This is non-nonsensical completely off-topic conversation that degrades the quality of the conversation that others are trying to have. In no way shape or form does it belong anywhere near PHT or this thread.

  16. I think the most tiring thing for me about the White Sox is how fundamentally bad they are annually and how they cannot take a walk.

  17. Keep Abreu and Colome. Never let Alonso bat again.

  20. He eventually became a terrific return for Alex Rios!!

  21. Dude is brutal at SS, in fact he looks like hes getting worse.

  22. Absolutely. Now, if the Sox had a veteran RF who is just a solid smart baseball player who fields well, has a little pop and runs somewhat well, that's one thing. BUT WAIT! THEY DO!

  23. Dude, this is only year 3 of a 5-6 year rebuild. Hahn could care less about putting the best 25 on the field. The only thing the Sox are playing for this year is another top 10 draft pick.

  24. I feel like it's pretty well established that Moncada almost always overreacts to acute injuries (or pains you might say). Not dissimilar to his countryman, Alexei

  25. I was thinking the same watching them last night. Certainly Anderson and Moncada have taken a big jump offensively. So has McCann coming over. I would guess we have to give Steverson credit for some of their success. But the overall SO problem w this team also rests to some degree w him as well.

  26. So we are going to pretend that Alexei wasn't a really good defender who should have won a couple of gold gloves?

  27. He has his issues defensively (and one could also say from a "baseball-smarts" standpoint). 16 errors now. In some ways he's like Alexei Ramirez a guy who felt his athletic ability would make up for everything. Hint: It doesn't at the big league level and like Ramirez his concentration seems to disappear at times which is not good. His hitting of course is making up for some of this but you'd think after three plus seasons now, he'd have a better handle on things.

  32. We know what Palka did in his rookie year. This year, at AAA, here are his split stats vs. RHP: AB 156 DOUBLES 11 HOMERS 13 RBI'S 33 AVG 308 OBP .416 . SLG .628 OPS 1.044 The question is; Why isn't he a better option than Alonso, to split the playing time with Abreu, between First Base and DH? If he can produce, like he did last year, he would be a useful piece, next year, or in a trade. Alonso, gets us nothing. He isn't going to hit well enough to garner any trade interest, and he certainly should not be allowed to reach the plate appearances, which would automatically vest his option, to come back next year. Just bite the bullet and DFA him, already.

  33. Red Sox announcers crushed to finish 3-3 against Toronto and the White Sox. For Boston, fourth lead blown after 8, plus another 7 more when leading after the seventh (Liptak stat of the day when Sox blow one...so his quote today about coming back from blown saves to still win should be interesting.)

  36. According to google, yes he hits lefty. Regardless, I think it's kind of silly to pencil Rutherford into a ML spot at this point. Sox have Rutherford/Gonzalez/Basabe/Adolfo/Walker in the outfield and they will all be at AA or above next year. They're not all staying with the club moving forward.

  39. I can't wait until Ricky is gone. Seems like a good clubhouse guy, but he's just so insufferably bad at in-game management and making lineups its pathetic.

  40. They wouldn't be calling it a sprain if there were fears about his Achilles. He's also walking around in a boot, I'm not totally sure, but I don't think that would happen with a ruptured Achilles. I'm also pretty sure you have to be the worlds worst doctor to mistake an Achilles for a sprain.

  41. I give up and am sick of defending him. Players go through slumps especially ones on bad teams, but with no love for Jose I hope we trade him soon. I'm weary of defending him. I hope you all get 2-3 good prospects for him and not lousy prospects.

  42. I'm talking about this season, arguably Jose has been better than Manny (at least equal) for 1/zillionth the cost. So some of you think I'm ready for the insane asylum? Call a talk show and ask the host about this and you'll see them agree with my point (unless they are extreme advanced statnik type of hosts). I read your entire thread. Not so sure anybody read mine. I'm just talking about this season, which is fair, because whenever somebody was ready to deem Avi trash they always just looked at current performance not ever looking at the season he bashed .320 or whatever it was. Now Tatis? Arguably what he's doing is scary good at this time. I'll give you that.
