This is absolutely ridiculous. You really believe there was a huge red flag that Jake Burger was going to rupture his Achilles before he was even drafted? Serious man?4 points

What? Yoenis Cespedes has never even finished top-8 in MVP voting. Puig has never finished better than top-15. Abreu has finished 4th. None of this really matters but the argument you're making is just not even close to being true.4 points

At least he’ll finally get playing time again. Thanks for nothing, Rick and Ricky, you stupid assholes.4 points

I'm already resigned to the idea that Moncada and Robert, at the very least, are going to walk. This is going to be a very limited window so they should maximize it. If they keep worrying about service time at this point there will be no window.3 points

The fact that Rondon and Palka were getting ABs ahead of Collins despite the handedness of the pitcher is a disgrace. One of your top prospects and Ricky starts those scrubs. Embarrassing3 points
-
Collins has a right to be pissed, he was badly misused and then a player from another organization was bumped ahead of him in line. Or they completely misread his preparedness to hit/adjust at the next level. Not much of a reward, at any rate.3 points

Sorry if this is not the right place to post this, but the last time I noticed I was in AA and now I am on the 40 man roster!! I might never go to O'Hare again in fear that someone from Soxtalk will inform me I've been sent down again. On second thought, I could still be in AA but on the 40 man...that's OK I'm still quite excited for the opportunity.2 points

But why would that person pretend that they were Zack Collins and claim they were going to Charlotte? What are the odds that person even knows who Zack Collins is? Why did this person look upset/angry? These questions need answers.2 points

If I was at O'Hare and someone told me I was being sent to Charlotte, I would be pissed too!!!2 points

Why do people always want to take on the cubs shitty problematic players? Russell? Heyward? I'd rather literally give players away than get those 2 back.2 points

So Yolmer is today's scapegoat for stinking it up in Oakland? Is it time to release him? Yes, I would rather see Madrigal at 2nd base now too. But, for whatever reason, he's not here, so clearly Yolmer is the best we got to put there. Hopefully Madrigal will be there next year, but I really think we gotta ride the season out with Sanchez. Rondon is batting .203, Yolmer is batting .250; that's a huge difference, huge. Yes, he started out the year very badly defensively, but if we're gonna cite small samples, he also threw out two guys at home and threw out a guy at 3rd in that one Boston game. There's an awful lot going on defensively for him to have pulled that off. I used to coach basketball, and I had this backup senior post player, and he drove me crazy: he'd get burned on out-of-bounds plays, could only score on offensive rebounds; no offensive threat, and he just took up space. Well, after one game I freaked out with my assistants that we gotta quit playing him; he give us nothing. I was yelling at them. They all agreed with his problems, but then they calmly pointed out that there is no one else better. All the guys on JV were too small and could never defend the post or get a rebound. We had to play him because that's all there was to put in as a back up. Until Madrigal comes up, Yolmer is all we have at 2nd base, and really, he is far from terrible.2 points

in regards to the title: stay the course. Sell. Sell high on bullpen pitchers always.2 points

I think your greatly over estimating the value of a number ten pick. Getting a major leaguer period would be a good outcome.2 points

All fans believe in winning above everything. Including those in favor of "tanking" or "building"... whatever we want to call it. That's the point of being a fan... you want to win. I would personally rather pickup a young player who could help us try to win a world series each of the next 4-5 seasons. As opposed to keep a veteran who could help us beat Detroit in September this year. But hey... that's just me being "flip happy". Wanting to win a world series in 2020 or 2021 instead of wanting to beat the Royals in September IS a belief in "winning above everything". I would say it's actually a much stronger belief and requires that much more dedication to winning. You want to win a bunch of meaningless, small battles which will be forgotten weeks after they are played out. I want to win multiple wars that will be remembered for eternity.2 points

Sox have scored 18 runs in their last seven games, six losses and in the game they won they only scored three runs.1 point

Those projected 2020 contending lineups with Tilson....yikes. He will make a great employee at the Bulls/Sox Academy in a few years.1 point

That's a good thing the sox don't do half of what he thinks they should .They would be even worse.1 point

Flying open, which as we’ve seen in the past causes him to miss offspeed pitches and not cover the outside corner.1 point

He didn't have a history of injury. And do you know what the number variable (as small as it is) to getting injured? a previous injury.1 point

Like Santana? If they legitimately want to compete next year...they’re already looking at Kopech on an innings limit, so they’ll need a #2 and a SOLID #4 if they are serious at all.1 point

They didn't, the $290 was a hypothetical offer. They actually offered 8/250. That wasn't even close. I could have seen an argument for 8/280 as being close. 2 years less, but $20M short. That is competitive.1 point

He's 24 years old. If he needs all of his option years he's probably useless anyway. The month of service time is also unlikely to matter.1 point

Yes, and youd be incorrect when it comes to asset valuation. We're not talking about your opinion here jack. The market was set at 250 million, not 300 million. 300 million was the end price but that doesnt mean the only competitive offer was 300 million. In fact, it took competitive offers to push the ceiling north of what the industry viewed his value. In a blind bid process, the market value is set by the culmination of all bids not the peak bid.1 point

How can the Sox know this if they don't give him consistent playing time? Seems a bit premature to write him off after 30 mlb at bats. As my man Greg Dulli of the Afghan Whigs sings, "if you ain't ready now then baby you ain't ever gonna be". The Sox should be letting Collins play over a washed up cheater like Wellington Castillo. Hiding Collins down in AAA accomplishes nothing for the future of the rebuild. Let's see what the kid has during a tank year.1 point

Yolmer will be gone soon enough. His arb numbers are getting up there. Leury can do what he can do plus more for less money. Unfortunately, Yolmer hasn't hit enough to make a team think they can use a guy like him for the last 60 games. For now, who cares? I am as sick of him as anyone, but playing Rondon more, which was suggested earlier in the year, doesn't make much sense. He makes Yolmer look like an all star. The other options are weak. Just like with every pitcher the Sox must immediately DFA. Do you really want to see Despaigne again? Hector Santiago? Unfortunately, we have to embrace a certain level of suck, because what is behind it sucks way worse or isn't quite ready.1 point

Jose Abreu and I have been on this train since March. Yolmer is a nice infielder and a switch hitter with meager results. To me, he screams 23rd guy on an NL team. He's beloved in the clubhouse and apparently by the front office but I'll repeat it for the 100th time - what value does Yolmer Sanchez provide to our next playoff team? There is no scenario where this guy gets trade value. Let's see what Mendick can do. Anyone but Yolmer.1 point

Because guys who are already very rich are likely less willing to sign a team friendly deal. He isn't strapped for cash. He can wait for $300M if he chooses1 point
