  1. I hope they just show that 2003 u of I /arizona game and force him to watch it the whole time.

  2. Well if that is all accurate, then perhaps his mind is set on signing on the west coast and there is nothing Hahn can do about it. But Hahn's comment was definitely not directly about Cole. You can negatively read between the lines all you want, but just presenting what was actually said to those that haven't listened.

  3. You probably complain about the internet more than anyone. Why do you continue to post? Seems you're a pot calling the kettle black. I find gamethreads a bit over the top, so I don't look at them much. Yet everything is weird, everything is crazy, but you keep looking at it. Do you get a badge for being an internet cop?

  4. Of course they are. They love the attention. Read a game thread. They dominate them. The other day Cease threw a 94 mph fastball in the 1st inning and 3 posters starting railing on Cooper for ruining Cease. We won that game and it was probably his best start. Shit's crazy, man.

  5. The people it was pretty obviously directed are making quite a big deal out of it...

  6. It doesn't make people like that angry. People like that enjoy being negative. They thrive in that environment. They're the same people at your workplace who do nothing but b**** and moan. Nobody wants to be around them, so the internet is perfect because they can find echo chambers of like-minded people.

  7. He's not wrong. We've seen it on this site. There are several posters who'd rather be right than be wrong and have the Sox be good. The discourse on this site has gone downhill tremendously over the last few years.

  8. Not necessarily. He addressed the Cole question by saying look at what other rebuilding organizations have done in the past to bolster contention, going out and getting top end starting pitching. Who knows if we would be serious suitors, but Sox absolutely should kick the tires on Gerrit Cole this offseason.

  9. I don't see the point of them actually discussing such things, but I do see his point because it is insane. The only thing I can see is that it really did hurt the Joc trade or something like that, so there's a tangible negative outcome for the Sox other than their feelings being hurt. If you don't like the Sox direction, fine, but it's what we have and there's literally no point shouting your opinions on Twitter because no one except Rick Hahn cares. In his mind, he is doing the best he can to complete the task of building a winner so I guess I really can see why he takes it personally. Like him or not, he is doing the best he can, in my opinion. Just roll with it and hope for the best. For the rest of it, it's useless. I'd like to see a bunch of Red Sox fan tweets during their little losing streak. Probably worse than any suicide watch we've ever seen around here.

  10. This is the type of thing I hear every day. Great to hear I'm not way off base. People are afraid to b**** about it. They're told to shut up because they're lucky to even have a job. I can't believe that there was ever a time where people were so lazy at work that they needed to go this far in the other direction.

  11. This is amazing. We aren't sacrificing anything as our team will play in one of the coolest scenarios this century. This game will be talked about big time and we are already getting big time attention today. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be the first team to do this.

  12. Hey guys, I've got two tickets for the game tomorrow I'd like to give away. One point before I ask who would like them. 1. They are paper tickets (not e-tickets) so I cannot mail them. They can either be picked up before near my house (Oak Park area) or I can leave them with roll call under your name. The parking pass is being used as well (sorry) so I cannot include that. The cost is $0. Please if you won't go, do not ask. Section 137.

  18. I wish people would stop b****ing about the umpiring every friggin' game. The umpires are inconsistent towards EVERY TEAM. Ever watch SportsCenter? Not a show goes by that they don't show some player or manager b****in' about balls and strikes---and that includes the best teams, not just the bottom feeders.

  19. I believe the meaningful proof is his career but hey, you go ahead and ignore that just like you are ignoring that he couldn't get through the order once successfully

  20. Detwiler doesn't bother me like he does some of you. If we used an opener he would be pretty good I believe. Lefty who throws strikes works for me in a limited role.

  21. This will be awful, but entertaining. Walton liked to give Bennetti crap about the White Sox during CBB games they did together.

  22. This is so dumb but Bill Walton is rarely not tier 1 content

  23. The White Sox and the owner of the field presented this idea to the league. The White Sox want the spot light on them for this game to promote their product

  24. We are in year 13 of not winning 90 games. The criticism may get to be over the top but it is to be expected. Fans are not obligated to give the people who've failed miserably a chance to prove themselves for a third, fourth, and fifth time. The only reason fans have been patient now is because they tried a new method to winning. I trust this process, but think in 2019 it shouldn't take 5 years to contend again. Competent organizations can compete in 3 or 4 years, even if it is just for an 88 win season.

  25. Just listening. Not surprised to see you make that leap, but that is quite the leap. The comment about where they went to college or married someone from a particular area had nothing to do with Cole. He's just saying that there are certain things that money can't overcome - the question was not directly about Cole. For those that had not listened and took that comment at face value...

  26. Hey just incase you had any doubts that Rick wants to keep pressing home the timeline may go longer...he's mentioned 5+ Years on rebuilds quite often in this podcast so far. Love how the timeline goes from short to 5 years like everyone else to maybe 7 years.

  27. The internet is weird. Probably have posted that 100 times. b**** and moan about other posts countless times. Tell everyone how they are supposed to feel. Mock yourself, you are as big of a complainer as there is. And there you go, cesspool. Yet here you are.

  28. For starters, I’m not on Twitter. He should probably realize that every team’s fan base seems to be negative on Twitter. Anyways, I still don’t like how he seems to feel social media is a deterrent to the rebuild. Him blaming the lack of a trade last year due to a leak is still ridiculous. Keep things tighter in your organization and don’t have people blabbing to Peggy Kusinski.

  29. He didn't make a big deal out of it. He just said it was unfortunate. I'm sure people will entertain themselves by making a bigger deal out of it than Hahn did though.

  30. The guy has been the GM for 7 years, they have never been .500. never finished closer than 16 1/2 games out of first place, are collectively almost 150 games under .500, and he's talking about twitter. He's a bright guy. There is a way to shut twitter up.

  31. 1) It’s good to try to activate the largely dormant fanbase in that part of Iowa that has more allegiance to the Cubs, Brewers and Twins in that order. 2) Also helps bring more attention to Shoeless Joe Jackson and the Sox in general, which is only a positive. More attention for Eight Men Out, as well. 3) Is something totally unique. I’m frankly surprised they haven’t tried to do something similar with the Indians (Major League), the Twins (Little Big League, like having a competition for a teenager to manage a game in spring training)...another movie like The Rookie 2 about that kid that just got signed after throwing 96 at a stadium fast pitch last week. Anything but that preposterous movie Rookie of the Year. Then you’ve got The Sandlot, 42, ‘61, Bang the Drum Slowly, The Natural, Pride of the Yankees, Bad News Bears, Moneyball, Trouble With the Curve, Bull Durham...a movie every other weekend at every park in the country when the team’s away...or maybe just six times per year. https://www.scout.com/Article/Kevin-Costner-Sports-Movies-Ranked-105187854/ Costner’s father is wearing a Yankees’ 1929-31 jersey in the movie

  33. If they used the N word and were calling people "Jewish" and you told them to cut it out you and they still did it, you absolutely did the right thing. You probably did the right thing even without warning them. I mean what animals are using the N word today and calling people Jewish for being cheap?? I mean I'm flabbergasted your friends would say the N word around you. It's animalistic behavior and uncalled for and you had to discard them as friends. I'm surprised they haven't been shot or attacked in public if they are saying it that much, surely somebody will hear them in public settings and attack them. The question is what are you going to do when they apologize to you? You still can't hang around with them if that's how they feel deeply abut African Americans and people who are Jewish. p.s. How old are these guys? If they are throwing around words like that, they need to knock it off. I remember when I was in college I had a friend who in a group pulled a "Flounder" in Animal House and tried to give me a nickname I didn't like or want. After they all got a good laugh I said immediately, "If you call me that again, I'm done with you and anybody who calls me that. I've got enough going on I'm not going to accept that name." They told me to calm down and never used that name again. I was prepared to change my social life and who I hung out with over that issue it pissed me off that much. At some point words matter and you did the right thing. I mean by using those words they ARE racists. Can't hang out with racists. Congrats to u.

  37. Trubisky went from well below average playing in a dogshit offensive scheme with CFL players at WR to going 29 TD/12 INT + a 67% CP last year with capable players and good coaches. I don't see a scenario where he isn't even better in 2019. Got to love the preseason, where every scrub is great and every good player sucks.
    1 point
  38. No, ron, I'm not going to let you pound this into your agenda. Jose isn't magically better post trade deadline. He's just a much worse hitter in cold weather. The August sample size isn't big enough to mean anything in terms of deviating from June or July or September. His June-September numbers are way, way better than his March-May numbers, though.

  41. Also, is it too early to petition for Eloy to DH this game? You know he’s going to end up running full speed into a cornstalk and lacerate his spleen.

  42. Actually, you haven’t gone far enough. He’s been a really good player overall for the Chicago White Sox over the entire course of his career; a team that’s never in contention. That’s proof he performs in low pressure situations. In fact, if he were worse he’d be better.

  43. So hopefully we are in at least the WC hunt next season. That way Jose can lead us down the home stretch.
