Yea the bassist (who sang tonight) also is lead singer (he sang songs like Rock Show, Adams Song, some others), but the original guitar player (not there tonight) did leave the band and he too sang (he sang hits like All the Small Things). The new guitar player was/is in a "horror punk" band called Alkaline Trio, who I like. Blink 182 are just OK for me, a bit too poppy and clumsy for me, but they have some decent tunes and are kinda fun. This song tonight sounded like mopey modern pop music being shoved down our throats, but they were playing instruments tonight, usually it's keyboards and/or a computer. Whatever gets BANDS back on the scene is fine with me.2 points

Just because a lot of guys bust doesn't mean you don't want the opportunity. Odds are you'll find betters players higher than lower. That's why.2 points

This old moron said that Sox fans have beer muscles and hinted that they won’t boo him in person at a game because they are afraid of him. I’m not sure how his comments can be defended. They were stupid. Like Jack Parkman, I would also be surprised if some other team’s pitching coach made comments this stupid about his team’s fans.2 points

Not sure if posted, but by fangraphs WAR (fWAR), Moncada is the best baseball positional player in Chicago.2 points

He threw the ball to the other team on the goal line. Pardon me if I object to that. Hope we didn't upset you Mrs Trubisky. I am sure Mitch is a fine young man. You should be proud. Have a great evening.1 point

He was 21-25 or some shit at halftime and you two bozos are upset about some 5 yard incompletions Think about that1 point

If they're gassed after one 3 and out the coaches aren't working them hard enough. More likely they're gassed because of the drives they are allowingl1 point

He stares down his target. He is inaccurate. Makes bad decisions. This is the Hallmark of bad qb play. Make all the excuses you want.1 point

LOL, you know I saw that and just got distracted and didn't change it. Reminds me of a paper I am having published where talking about species, I used the word "bread" instead of "bred". I did 10 proofs and never caught it, decided to give my paper one last go when I was on a train and saw it. Nearly cried it was so dumb.1 point

I wish the Bears hired John Defilippo as a QBs coach. He is fantastic with working with a QB's mechanics. Mitch desperately needs it.1 point

He is giving you 2 TDs or more to get banned. I don't know. Seems like you are being a chicken shit with this.1 point

Alright @Moan4Yoan, I was able to get rid of Parkman, what kind of bet will it take to get rid of you? How about O/U on Trubisky TDs tonight at one? If he throws two or more, you’re banned from this thread until the bye week, if he throw zero I’m out until then. One TD and we both survive. Sound good?1 point

Well the only guys in that offense from the 2019 mlb team that matter are anderson, moncada, eloy, hopefully collins and depending on whether they bring him back abreu. Still anderson, eloy and to some extend abreu are bad plate discipline guys with bad k to bb rates. Collins and moncada also whiff but also have a good eye. Madrigal should help some while robert also is a bad plate discipline guy. However while I prefer guys with low K-BB numbers it is the overall production that counts. High walk and low K rate helps but the only thing that matters is your wRC+ and not how you do it. I mean the angels had the best plate discipline in baseball this year (lowest o swing, 3rd highest contact) but it got them nowhere but the twins had bad plate discipline (19th contact , 20th chase) and they rake. Don't get me wrong, better plate discipline is better but it is the overall output that counts. It doesn't matter if you have high on base table setters and power guys to drive them in like 10 years ago, it is basically just team with the highest average wRC+ wins. Still player dev should of course work on plate discipline as a better K-BB rate helps but there isn't just one way to success.1 point

He was limping pretty bad. Would appear (visually) like a very questionable decision and one that I hope doesn't backfire (either in terms of a key miss and/or making the injury worse). Just WIN baby!1 point

Personally I think Lopez is a reliever but we'll see. Hopefully I'm wrong and he's more than that.1 point

I was delighted to see Ricky show some life in this regard. Even parents who love you let you know when they are disappointed in your effort.1 point

Legitimate question: Why is anyone fascinated with Mazara? Baseball reference stats. .7 WAR. He is a slightly below league avg bat with negative defense. He is left-handed which is a positive but his walk rate has roughly gone from .06 to .05 to .04 which is exactly what we don't need. I see a poor glove, not great bat who strikes out a lot and doesn't walk. Also, you have to give up something for him. Calhoun 2.5 WAR, better defense, walks at nearly.09 rate, also lefty. OPS better than league avg 112. negative k's more. One year left on deal at 14 million. Angels up against spending limits so may get for salary relief as they have a high prospect ready. Prior to hot streak there was talk he could be released for $ savings.1 point

Now 15th in fWAR, has passed Devers and Acuna Jr, among others. 14th in wRC+ at 142. Plus a solid glove, good baserunning = superstar.1 point

Putting any blame on catchers is a pretty big cop out IMO. Thor did it with the Mets, then backtracked a bit, but if he doesn't know what he wants to do and thinks it's all up to the catcher how he performs, he should give some money back. The ultimate responsibility for what pitch is thrown and location is either on the pitcher or the bench if the bench is calling the game which several do.1 point

It's no different than any other form of white-collar fraud. Bernie Madoff is in jail, the people that run these things should be too. The bolded is too much to ask. The average person is really stupid. Sometimes, you have to protect people from their own stupidity. People should not be allowed to get super rich running a scam like this. It's criminal. White collar crime is a huge problem and much of it has become legal. They're just stealing a piece of the pie that everyone should be getting. I don't think this is an extreme viewpoint at all. I think it is common sense. It already walks on the borders of legality. Let's just put it on the other side where it belongs. If you want to discuss further, take it to PM.1 point

I think instead of making these comments,a guy like Cooper should just ignore the tweets he doesn’t like or twitter in general. What do they expect? If twitter was around in his heyday, you would be able to find thousands of tweets saying Michael Jordan is worthless. Take a franchise that has struggled for over a decade, and that is only going to be multiplied.Maybe even try winning to shut them up. it appears Don Cooper scours twitter either to find stuff praising him to satisfy his ego, or to look for stuff to b**** about. Does he even have a twitter account?1 point

I don't pay attention to Sox stuff on twitter or facebook. So I'm not really sure what he speaks of. Here on soxtalk and another message board I post on...I think Sox fans have been remarkably forgiving considering much of the incompetence over the last 10 years. The last 10 years have been so bad, that they should be grateful that there's still people out there who care.1 point

Ozuna and Castellanos are also not RF. Ozuna has had a bad year, so hard pass, and Castellanos is Eloy in RF. I'm interested in Castellanos, but only as a DH.1 point

Madrigal will help the K%. Full year of Collins (and Vaughn when he gets here) will help the BB%. I expect Eloy to walk more next season and probably Moncada too. I'm probably one of the few that doesn't want Abreu back (mostly because of how Ricky will continue to bat him 3rd, play him way more than he should at 1B. I won't even count his baserunning, baseball I.Q., etc in this) but I know he will be and hopefully he becomes more disciplined as a hitter knowing he has protection around him.1 point

No, I want managers and coaches who aren’t morons. Renteria and Cooper can hit the road.1 point

Sports leagues can fix it if they want to. Just throw all non playoff teams names in to a hat and randomly pick the draft order. Stop rewarding teams that lose on purpose. But they won't do that for some reason.1 point

So you say tanking works all the time? I think it's needlessly painful for fans and an excuse for organizations to make a lot of cash. I hate tanking ... sorry. I think it's un-sportsmanlike. You are supposed to try to win.1 point
-
Yep. It probably has something to do with the amount of playoff appearances in the last 50 years.1 point

Well that's not how the Sox operate. We will offer a deal that has quite the bounty of performance based bonuses that we will pitch against guaranteed offers that are longer and more lucrative. We will then chase this guy hoping that he sees the future bucks are actually better than guaranteed money. We will be razor focused in our pursuit. Once he signs elsewhere Kenny will act shocked. We will then go for a retread that had a pedigree and tell the fans to believe in the process.1 point
