The notion that players won't be willing to sign here needs to burn in a fire. First off, Chicago is a world class city. Hell of a place to live when you're making millions. Secondly, players almost always sign with the team that offers the most money. It's been that way and will continue to be that way.

Again...Mitch has been gradually making progress. Made quite a few plays despite again some costly drops. They are getting better...still not good though and these are bad defenses. for those ripping Pagano, Bears are third over all in points against. They haven’t been as opportunistic as the past but some of that is no Hicks and some of that is they haven’t played with the lead very often. That said, very sloppy first two drives of the game. In general this team plays sloppy which is a sign of coaching, imo. i think everyone got ahead of themselves with expectations and forgot how small / razor thin the margin for error is in this league. Either way second straight 3 td game for Mitch and 300 plus yards to boot. Far less three and outs too. as i have been saying for weeks...I just want to see continued progress. Oh and Miller with back to back good games.

Strasburg would use the Sox for leverage and leave them at the altar.

This coaching staff doesn’t have these guys prepared on far too many plays. It’s disgusting how bad the coaching is for the Bulls and Bears.

Yes he is. Start him at 2B with Leury in RF. When Robert gets here, we'll have a Legit MLB at every position. If Villar has a good year, you won't have to depend on Madrigal as much to contend next year. If Madrigal is good right away, move Villar to RF. Odds are he will out hit Leury. 10 million is cheap if it makes the Sox a playoff contender next year.

You dont give good players away for nothing just because you're rebuilding. That philosophy hurts the game.

10 million isnt expensive even if you think villar is only worth half of his WAR last year.

Here's one more option, which I left out of the list of possibilities: Let him play 2ND, and keep Madrigal at AAA most of the season. If the Sox are not in the race, he might be decent trade bait, at the trade deadline. That would delay Madrigal's service time, reduce the overall cost of Villar and perhaps even net a prospect.

Agree! If he can be close to 2019 numbers with 40 SB, 20+ HR and a .270 BA he'd look good in a lot of lineups.

Why not just get a natural RF?
