  1. This trading Vaughn talk by some people here is fucking ridiculous. Why would we want to trade a guy who some experts think is one of the best college hitters they have ever seen. Insane talk imo. I wouldn't trade Vaughn for Senzel straight up. He is our first baseman of the future and we should be excited about that as Sox fans.

  2. The work that has been done to build FutureSox can't be praised enough. Congratulations team and everyone who has had a part in this! It is literally one of the top content providers for ANY White Sox related page, especially one that is fully independent.

  3. FutureSox has migrated off the ChicagoNow blog network, officially, as of last night. The website is all-new. Here it is. There are still some tweaks being made, it's not in final target state, but it's up and running and already looks and feels a heck of a lot better than the CN version did. No ads at present, and any ads that come later will be non-intrusive. Give a crawl around, try some categories, read a couple articles, and comment with your thoughts so far on the new site! I can pass that info on to the right people.

  6. I hope ESPN decides to remove themselves from Sunday Night Baseball. It's still going to be a miserable broadcast. Easily the best perk of being a fan of a team no one else gives a shit about.

  8. I have no problem with a woman on the broadcasts; I just think she was bad in general. Men certainly are bias against women announcers for unwarrented reasons - for example, everyone hates on Doris Burke and Doris is fine and she really understands the game and her knowledge is shown. Mendoza was just a players apologist who did this acting as a "friend" to players and not an analyst. She's also a moron who promoted cheating.

Just seems feasible in my fantasy baseball mind that if we could trade our SS for Senzel that we could pick up a SS at a discounted price elsewhere with relative ease. 2020 Fantasy Baseball: Shortstops Rankings, Consensus Preseason Rankings for SS | FantasyPros RANK PLAYER (Team, Position) OVERALL BEST WORST AVG STD DEV ADP VS. 12. never thought of that angle -- trying to get Senzel ...... hmmm... would they do it for Timmy? This is all just surface level for me - haven't really researched it, going off of my fantasy baseball memory right now ... but Senzel was a #2 pick and destroying the minors before his bout with vertigo i believe. and then this injury... i wonder if it would be a buy low, sell high type of thing. They get their SS & we could see where we slot him ... SS, 2B, CF, RF, etc. *** i reserve the right to hate my own post later today after i think about this more -- even though this scenario will never happen anyways.

  15. https://theathletic.com/1563110/2020/01/27/we-look-at-the-numbers-every-day-white-sox-tout-technology-usage-in-scouting-player-development/?source=shared-article Another deep dive into the White Sox all-in mentality pertaining technology and data analysis; spearheaded by Cooper and his team. Some quotes from the article; “You have to have evaluation and you have to have technology — we want scouts that can use both,” Shirley said. “We’re trying to define who’s got the best fastball. Who’s got the best fastball command? Who’s got the best fastball stuff? Who’s got the best axis on it? Who’s got the best spin rate, who’s got the most carry on their fastball? This is the stuff our technology pieces are looking at.” “There’s a fallacy going on that I’m so old school I don’t care about the numbers,” pitching coach Don Cooper said. “That couldn’t be further from the truth. We look at the numbers every day. We have the Rapsodo out every day. We have the high-speed camera out every day. Because you want every tool you can have that’s going to help.” But he also reeled off motion and pitch-tracking systems Trackman, BlastMotion, K-Vest and Rapsodo by name. He broke down for fans how scouts use force plates to measure how players are pressing their feet into the ground during their swings, and how the correlation to bat speed has become requisite knowledge for his army of 17 area scouts. Seems like the Sox have caught up quickly, and have likely already passed the Cubs in their analytics department.

  22. @Look at Ray Ray Run @ChiSox59 Sounds like a great chance for a bet between you two. 10-1 odds. If Madrigal breaks camp with the team, you owe Ray Ray $200. If he doesn't, Ray Ray owes you $20. Why don't you guys just PayPal me the money now and I'll send it to whoever wins the bet? In fact, go ahead and give me your checking account information and social security numbers just in case anything goes wrong.

  23. The new site looks phenomenal though. I've said it before many times, but the content Futuresox puts out is simply phenomenal. I recommend it to all the White Sox fans I know. As we enter the (hopefully) golden age for the White Sox, I hope Futuresox and Soxtalk get an influx of new White Sox fans, causing both sites to flourish like never before.

  24. Just to clarify this point, as the media is wrongly clarifying what the pilot was said. That relay is given many times a day - according to someone in ATC - and it's not a warning at all. It's merely being said to let them show they're not on radar, so they can't give you any additional information since they do not show up on radar. They are not telling the pilot he is flying too low; they are telling him he's too low to report/show up.

  26. What an embarrassment the Pirates are in general. They should be forced to sell; running a 42 million dollar payroll yet they still benefit from revenue sharing. Comical. A floor scares people, but there should be a revenue sharing floor - in order to qualify for RS, you need to spend a certain amount of money. This would prevent small teams like the Pirates from investing nothing and banking millions.

  32. Cooper appears to have been sold this by his own players - like Giolito. That said, all credit goes to Cooper for being willing to evolve with the times and change for the better of his players. Not all coaches - especially not those with the immense track record of Cooper - are willing to evolve. Cooper very clearly is all-in with these guys, and I think it's very clearly going to pay off. I have always felt Cooper was a master of the mental side of pitching coaching - which is one of, if not the biggest, battles pitchers face - and if he can combine that with some sound data analysis it makes him a special coach for these guys.

  33. This is actually pretty good for the Sox. The Sox can give Mazara an audition in 2020 and then reassess if he doesn't work out. Castellanos could be another option for RF next year assuming he opts out, and hopefully he'll torment the Cubs in the meantime.

  34. This really isn't a bad setup for cincinnati either. They had to guarantee a lot, but those opt outs really aren't bad for them either. If he opts out after either year 1-2, that means he had really good performance for them and that they came out on top - paying him for less production than they got - which is possible for him now that he's out of Detroit. Furthermore, so far no one has said that there are any clauses about a qualifying offer in that contract, so if he opts out Cinci can get another 2nd round pick for him leaving.

  35. Yea Senzel better be an above average fielder if I'm going to see all this love for him. Same age as Mazara. Lots more years of control though of course . But but but getting Senzel is rebuilding team move . We are in our window now .

  40. I thought he was going to be cheaper with the way things were going. At that price, it’s very nice to see the Cubs lose him but stay in that division. Oh, and LOL to all the ridiculous rumors that he was waiting for the Cubs to free up money so he could re-sign with them.

  43. Tim Anderson has more trade value than Nolan Arenado, and it frankly isn’t close. One has 2 guaranteed years of control at market value, the other has 5 at well-below market value.

  44. While you are correct on some of that, that is some good revisionist history. The Sox finished first or second in the division 20 times in the past 50 years and 16 in the past 30 . While that means to 70s and 80s were very lean, it's hardly what I would call rare. In those years they were in the race for most of the season. Those were meaningful games. The Cubs on the other hand finished first or second only 13 times in that same time frame. They've only very recently been better. In the past 30 years its been 8 for the Cubs compared to 16 for the Sox. The comparitive records and team quality hasn't been the issue. It's been the Cubs on WGN and the Sox stupid idea to try sportsvision in the early 80s, which was bad idea at the time but all teams are doing now.

  45. I think there is nothing wrong with Sox fans hating the Cubs and going out of their way to show it. For the longest time the thought was Sox fans were obsessed with the Cubs, Cubs fans didn’t care about the Sox. It was BS. Go to a Cubs/Mets game at Wrigley in the summer. Walk by the t shirt stands a block or two from Wrigley Field. You will see them well stocked with Sox Suck and the 83 logo with SUX t shirts, Since the Sox have rarely played meaningful baseball the past 50 years, a case can be made the Cubs are their biggest rivals. They do play them every year. They are in competition for the Chicago area casual baseball fan. Perhaps the pendulum can swing a bit now. If the Cubs don’t get on Comcast, it could really help the Sox if they start playing well. The Cubs have already priced themselves out of a lot of fans options. Not having them on the regular TV for a large portion of those same people could lead them south. As far as this picture. I thought it was pretty clever. Eloy and Cease being White Sox is a Cubs loss. All the more reason for an L flag.

  46. These posts are just so wonderful . You are all getting likes from me. There's so much more to why Abreu got that contract and it has like $4M in deferred money from 2023-26. I'm sure Reinsdorf thinks he was worth every penny of it ,Abreu loves the White Sox more than just about anything and wasn't afraid to show it . He is Mr.White Sox and if you can't deal with that I feel bad for you. He has done everything in his power to make this team better. The more I defend him the more I learn about him and just how influential he is to the younger guys not only on being a better baseball player but being a better person and representing the White Sox in a positive way.

  47. I'm fine with this. Yeah he improves them for now. But he's been injury prone...and this has a high probability of being a bad contract at some point. Before long, he could help the Sox cement their hold on this division when he ties up the Twins payroll.
