  2. But you said you didn't like politics in sports. Oh, you meant your politics are cool? The black athletes should just shut up and dribble though. I know your type. I got it now.

  4. I'm all for no politics in sports. Get rid of the national anthem altogether, all the flyovers funded by taxpayer dollars and the other nonsense couched in faketriotism. You agree?

  9. Is there’s reason the White Sox didn’t reach out to Bochy? Was there anyone else interviewed, the Score said there may have been one other candidate. Even people happy with the hire should ask why didn’t the Sox perform due diligence and use the interview process to learn the approach of other successful franchises and managers. Theo, who won two WS titles stated he learned a lot during the process, especially from Joe Espada who nearly unexpectedly won the job over favorite David Ross. 2012: Sox managerial search consists of White Sox begging Robin Ventura to take the job. Robin hesitates but ultimately signs. 2016: For some unexplained reason the White Sox once again beg Robin Ventura to stay after a dismal and embarrassing four year stretch. Robin says no and within 24 hours, the Sox sign Rick Renteria, the extent of their managerial search. 2019: After the season, the White Sox like what Rick Renteria has done, the team has developed well under Rick’s guidance, and he is given a contract extension through 2021. 2020: White Sox improve further and qualify for the playoffs for the first time since 2008. Development and growth of several players continues under Rick Renteria. Lack of pitching depth and failed acquisitions at DH and RF prevent the White Sox to advance further. There were questionable bullpen moves during a few games, but for the most part the bullpen over performed during the short season, and likely would have imploded due to lack of depth under an 162 game season. The FO acquired nothing of consequence at the trade deadline, and literally did not have confidence in more than two starting pitchers heading into the playoffs. October 12: Rick Renteria is fired, Hahn announces there will be a broad EXTERNAL SEARCH conducted with an EMPHASIS on interviewing managers with RECENT championship experience. That same day rumors are reported Tony LaRussa is a candidate for the job despite the fact he hasn’t managed in a decade. October 29, 2020: In a day that will live in infamy, the White Sox send an announcement with A. J. Hinch’s signature, a candidate they did not even interview, and Tony LaRussa’s picture, announcing Tony LaRussa will manage the White Sox in 2021.

  10. OK, so I took overnight to cool down from the RAGING FIRE of 10,000 Suns' worth of hatred of this move. And, I still fvkcing hate this shit. First of all, this is "SO White Sox." Instead of having a competitive process, they [meaning JR] decided who HE wanted as manager, and they just "named him," without so much as a comparative process. Had they interviewed: 1. TLR and Bochy ["Elder Statesmen" group], AND 2. Hinch and Cora ["Cheating Cheaters" group], AND 3. Alomar and Quatraro (sp?) ["Up-And-Comers" group], and then decided that TLR was the "best choice," then I would somewhat be at peace with it. But, by all we now know, neither Hinch, nor Cora, nor Bochy, nor anyone else was interviewed. This is the SAME moronic process that gave us Ventura and Renteria as managers. There hasn't been a competitive, comparative process since Guillen vs. Gaston, now 17 fvkcing years ago. They've learned NOTHING, and this hire will likely result in failure. Secondly, I hate what hiring a geezing geezer will do to the team and it's processes. A 76 year old man shouldn't buy green bananas, let alone think LOGICALLY about this organization's future 3 or 4 or 5 years hence. In other words, he'll think about the NOW, and ONLY the NOW, not about an entire window of competition, much like many boomers think about climate change today. At the same time, him being BFF with JR means that the organizational structure will be as convoluted as a polygamist-mormon's family tree. Basically, TLR already has the ear of JR, whereas his [nominal] boss has to ask KW to ask JR. So, if TLR gets the moronic idea to trade Kopech for Matt Carpenter, straight up, Michael Kopech will be helping St Louis for a decade. This will fvkc up this window's duration. Lastly, YES, I think a blind, drunk monkey could be better at the tactical and strategic parts of the game than RR. I think a lifelong drunken 76 year old will be better than RR as well. But I don't know if he will be the BEST possible option, and we will never know that, because those @ssholes didn't bother to interview anyone else. At the same time, we know that TLR's teams feuded with each other, and he is out of touch as well. If it hasn't been started yet, there should be a poll for who will TLR feud with, and who will he try to run out of town. Because it is inevitable, based on 30+ years of his work history. On balance, this is "SO White Sox," in that they self-sabotaged themselves. Again. Sure, they'll "be better next season" than they were last season. But, in true White Sox fashion, they failed to make THE BEST choice based on all of the available information. And, the organization will suffer as a result. I won't stop following my lifelong favorite team. But I know I probably won't get a ticket package for 2021.

  19. Patriotism is not politics the way I see it. Flyovers and standing for the national anthem are not political and do not reflect anything other than honoring our veterans and those who died and were wounded in defending out country. As for "knowing my type", leave this alone with me. I do not want to get into it with you on anything that has to do with politics.

  22. I think all of you should be as ashamed of yourselves as the guy who called it by the name we all understand should not be used. This always seems to be the case that instead of educating, we voice our disgust and that leads nowhere. If the ignorant need correcting do it. Educate them. By voicing your disgust you are only saying "Look at me I am an enlightened person. " We all must do our part to make the world a better place and shouting opposition is better than nothing but not as good as applying rational thought and education or in many instances re-education to the process. Instead of using your own words that might show your disdain use a well written article on the subject such as this one. https://medicine.yale.edu/news-article/23074/

  29. You guys nailed it. This hurts, because for once I thought the Sox were headed in a direction to be a destination and that would've opened them up for a long window. TA has a chance to be the face of baseball for a younger generation and draw in fans that otherwise may not follow. I felt the Sox were so close to being embraced nationally instead of making headlines for ridiculous Hawk or Ozzie tantrums. It really felt like they were ushering in something new here, and this feels like as big a step backwards as I could've imagined. LaRussa will likely be successful enough in the short term, but there will be long term ramifications. And I don't believe he was sincere in any way, and the players silence is everything.

  31. When you are twenty five you have arguably 4-5years of experience as an adult. ...arguably in the sense that you are using your teenage experiences as a frame of reference to place perspective on things. Major league players are mostly twenty somethings who could benefit from others experience, if they are willing to listen and learn. Ironically, some of the harshest critics of TLR do not appear to have an open-minded bone their bodies. Read your own posts when you have a moire sanguine moment to reflect on what you have said. Ray - give it a rest man.

  34. If I’m Hahn, I’m pushing to keep Menechino, Coolbaugh, & Hasler in their current roles. I’d also be pushing for Zaleski as pitching coach and a younger guy of my choice as bench coach and future successor (Jirschele, Fuld, etc). That leaves the 1B & 3B coaching roles for Tony’s buddies. Seems like a fair compromise given how fucked Hahn got here.

  38. Maybe I just have outrage exhaustion. People on this board hated Renteria (I wasn't a big fan). Then there was talk of Hinch and there were a flood of posts about not hiring the cheater (he was intriguing but only won with a super team that we found out were cheating). Then the White Sox hire a manager with 4 manager of the year awards, 6 pennants, 3 world series (out of three) and has averaged 87 wins over 33 years...winningest manager in history and successful at three different organizations and we are apoplectic over it?? OK he does look really old in the pictures...but we aren't asking him to dig ditches. We are asking him to control a clubhouse, make key game time decisions and work with an organization of players and coaches. Sure seems like he would be pretty good at that. Yes there are a bunch of young guys he has to manage...but a grandfather figure that is alternately stern and kind is probably something most of these players can get along with. Hahn's not giving up GM duties to him...the teams movement towards analytics isn't going out the window...everyone wants to put their personal hatred of some element of the White Sox (this is a weird board) and assume that TLR will magnify that perceived stupidity. I don't know...I don't think managers make that much of a difference but if one were to use a case study to say that they do...they would probably use TLR as exhibit A.

  40. They interviewed Willie Harris. It wasn’t quite a Rooney rule deal, but basically was - he had no shot at the job and they weren’t interested in what he had to say, but they had to interview someone nonwhite or it would be even more obvious.

  41. The Sox should still make the playoffs with Tony at the helm. There is a minuscule chance of a mutiny like when Bobby V took over in Boston. Besides not being a fan of his managing 34 years ago, my problem with it is the Sox had an opportunity of a lifetime. How many teams in their situation have a managerial opening? They probably had their choice of anyone available. They didn’t even interview everyone available. Why not hire a guy who you can see managing this team through their window? LaRussa is here 2 years tops. You could sense the disappointment in RH yesterday. He tried to be a good soldier and sell the company line, but his heart wasn’t in it.
