  1. If you watched Biden and still feel Trump is a better choice, I have nothing to say.

  2. Its funny, if you substitute "Biden" for "Trump" the speech is still the same in general meaning, yet we all know it would never happen in a meaningful way. The speech would have been about his tremendous victory, all of the people who wronged him, and all of the things he was going to do. There would have been zero reconciliation. He has never even tried to get along with the rest of the country, in fact he actively paints those who opposite his political views as enemies who should be physically attacked. If you REALLY believed anything you posted after the first sentence, you wouldn't have been voting for Donald Trump in the first place as he is literally incapable of everything else in your post.

  3. Actions are a lot more important than words; tone means about 1%, and while Trump was exhausting for us who followed politics and current events, it's obvious many don't care. So while I appreciate a non-hostile rhetoric, I would appreciate if Joe Biden actually did good things for people and wasn't a man of corporate intent as he's been for much of his 50 years in public "service" from which he is now worth 9 million dollars. Watching countless Republicans come out and praise Biden for slamming the progressive movement doesn't give me much hope for change because Biden has always been closer to say John Kasich than he is to an actual liberal who wants a Great Green New Deal to save the environment, or fair and equal health-care for all. What I hope is that I am wrong, and that democrats see the writing on the wall; "we are losing the working class Americans", which includes the minorities that we have spoken to in platitudes without executing any true community uplifting policies over the past few decades - the Latino's who we assume will vote democratic as we ignore their pleas for help over and over. It was difficult to be excited yesterday as we watched the Mayor of Chicago promote people being out on the streets "celebrating" while Illinois recorded 10% of the national cases - 10% of a day that was the worst since the pandemic began. We have become a nation in which, if you agree with me your actions aren't irresponsible. The standard for both sides is merely not the same, as many forgive and rationalize the decisions their "team" makes while admonishing the other side for their reckless actions. I was happy yesterday too, but we're in the middle of a pandemic and hundreds of thousands of Americans have died. It's been a tough year for all of us; hell, earlier in the year I lost my job that I had worked to get for 5 years. My wife hasn't seen her mother in two years because our trips got cancelled due to the virus, and Colombia walling off their boarder to Americans. I understand the angst and pain of being locked indoors with the impending winter coming, but you can't look at the other side and tell them how they don't care about lives.... how they're reckless and negligent... how they're complicit in the loss of lives because they don't care about their neighbor or grandparents; only to go on and celebrate recklessly in the streets when the virus is ravaging through our communities worse than it ever has. It's important in society for our judgements to be held to the same standard, if not even a higher standard for those we agree. It's great that Obama was a fantastic orator, and his message was uplifting to many who needed it but his overall execution was destructive to the lives of the average American and he's not the first Democratic President whose words didn't match their policies and execution. Similarly to religion, I respect the hope it gives but I despise the destruction it has left in its wake. It's great that the hostile orange man is gone, but it's important that we don't lose site of what has caused so much pain for so many over the decades of the past. Economic inequality has ravaged through our communities; environmental destruction has destroyed entire communities and states; water is still undrinkable in flint Michigan and throughout other poverty riddled communities. It's nice to hear someone who says everyone matters, again, but it'll be even more refreshing if for the first time in my lifetime a President actually shows that he gives a fuck. Oh, and Lori Lightfoot; after months of shaming and degrading those who were weary of the sincerity of lockdowns... those who lost their jobs and livelihoods due to government forced closures, only to be left out to rot after being given a lousy $1200 stimulus check.... it takes a lot of nerve to be out on the streets promoting mass gatherings while the local hospitals are at capacity... But hey, it's 2020 and if you agree with me... it's OK to be irresponsible.

  4. Not judging others people's beliefs, we're judging Greg775, a character that you created. There is a big difference. You've used that character to (in the most negative language used) troll this site, or in a more positive phrase, to challenge the vast majority of poster's opinions. You've always known when you are touching the boundaries and I have no doubt that you are aware that you are in spittin' distance of the electric fence.

  6. I think Madrigal’s bat handling skills are so good that shifts and pitcher adjustments aren’t going to matter. He’ll find holes for a decade and he’ll get better on the other side of the diamond. Dude is a keeper.

  7. Yea - I sincerely don’t understand how people of faith can be so blind to the last guy who was elected.

  8. 75 million people voting for that scumbag is still too damn high. I'm glad Trump's reign is over, but we have to realize the damage has still been done. I fear irreparable damage may have been done and we need to do a lot to get back to where we were. And God forbid Ivanka or Donald Jr. make a grab at it next time. I'm not trying to downplay the victory. But the fact apparently almost half the country twice voted for a lifelong conman, bona fide cult leading Fox News Grandpa (and so many other dangerous things) is just fucking insane. The goal was acheived: fully expose the ignorance in this country. It happened. It can't be unseen. I really hope we can get back to where we were. But the fact the last 4 years even happened will forever be a dark, catastrophic stain on our history. And don't get me started on how badly we need to change this archaic voting system, ugh.

  9. Yeah. He isn't a terrible hitter and does have a bit of pop and decent walk rates but he also had a .340 babip which is unusual for him. He basically is a 15-20 HR hitter who strikes out too much and mostly is about a 90-100 wrc+ hitter who occasionally is a little better with some babip luck. That has value with his defense but the Sox already have that with more upside in robert.

  11. You just lectured everyone on not supporting the exact policies and actions you just voted for. I don't know why you think you get to do whatever you want, but expect more of anyone else, but this is exactly why no one treats you with respect. You don't treat anyone else with respect. You want unity, act like it. Quit supporting hateful and divisive politicians. Until then I don't want to hear any demands from you on what the world owes you. You reap what you sow.

  12. Actions speak louder than words. You will never have a unified country with Trump as President because his entire platform is pitting Americans against Americans. You don't get to talk about unity and acceptance after voting for the opposite. You can ask for forgiveness, but you don’t get to lecture people to put up standards that you, yourself are not living by. You supported disunity and division.

  13. If we were truly cut-throat and wanted to be Rays like - you trade Abreu coming off a top season. Someone takes on his salary + you get some nice pieces back. Slot Vaughn in at 1B and Eloy in at DH. You then upgrade LF defense via trade or FA (or Abreu trade) and now you have a younger, cheaper, better defense team and solve the Eloy defense issue for the future. won't happen for a lot of reasons - but would be a good move for long term success. Not saying I am for or against it either - just saying take all emotions out of it and it makes sense.

  14. Can you imagine what our offense will look like with Vaughn? I have an idea and I want to see it. We have the lineup spot for him so let’s keep our own top prospect . We have options in the OF including Engel and I suspect Mazara. If not the free agent market could very well be a possibility

  15. Pederson would be ideal.

  16. He is a good fielder but can't really hit that well. I don't see why the Sox need that. Having a glove first CF is ok if you have two corners who can mash but the Sox have robert who can field well AND has offensive upside. The Sox also have a good glove guy who can't hit in engel. Granted bradley is not as bad with the stick as engel (only slightly below average instead of very bad) but with Robert and engel the sox don't really need a 95 wrc+ CF which is not terrible but a downgrade. The Sox don't need more playing time blockers like EE and mazara this year, if you get one get a real upgrade or let the young guys play.

  19. Plus, regarding those base running plays where he was out, the plays were very close and it took perfect plays by defenses to get him. And, he was probably sent by coaches, Nick is/will be a very good base runner.

  20. Seems right to me. In 2019 I think he gets 10 mill (see Porcello). 20% off is my expected bench mark this offseason.

  22. Oh Jesus with this crap already. Again, it was emphasized how excellent he was in the minors AND in his MLB rookie year but because he's short (the fuck does this matter?) and didn't do a great job baserunning IN HIS ROOKIE YEAR people are shitting on him. Makes no sense. Nick is exactly the type of hitter the Sox have been needing for years. Dude can hit over 300 his rookie year and never strike out but fuck him, he's short. Yeah, Soxtalk overall is a great site but you're always gonna have your share of laughable nonsense and Nick is the subject of a lot of that. Look how panicked people got about Moncada and declared him a bust after 1.5 years in the majors. There is definitely a lot of impatient knee jerking that goes on here.

  23. But then the Republicans also need to compromise and not block everything in the senate they are likely going to win. In the past it often was an asymmetrical war were the Republicans played foul with every semi legal tricks and the Dems losing because they weren't willing to throw as much dirt. It has to be a level playing field and since now the Dems have the president it is the Republicans who have to make the first step and allow for some compromise. Biden should offer cooperation but only if the reps offer something, if the reps go back to blocking everything then the Dems need to start using those foul tactics too so they don't get beaten by that. If the Republicans really want compromise they need to step up and stop some dirty tactics (even if technically legal) they have used in the past. Fairness and compromise isn't a one way street.

  24. You make a good point about trading Madrigal and Vaughn as some of the dumbest shit I heard. Why anyone would want to trade our recent 3rd and 4th round draft picks is mind boggling. Madrigal is the perfect player for out team and his glove will get better. All he did was hit in minors and majors and oh by the way he was playing hurt all year. And Vaughn could be as good as hitter we have on this team and I suspect he will. Crazy idiotic talk for sure.

  26. I watched the Biden speech. its funny, because for obvious reasons he isn't much of a speaker. He kind of reminds me of W in that, where he isn't going to command a room, but its authentic. He really believes what he has to say. To hear a positive and not self-praising message was incredible. It was so refreshing to hear it be us and we and our, and things we want to achieve instead of who is being targeted and torn down. It wasn't about I and me, and who our enemies are. I am ready for this change.

  34. I agree but he put up more WAR in 60 games than Adam Engel has in his career and the same WAR as Mazara has in his career. All I’m saying is that if the options are stand pat or get Bradley, I’d like Bradley.

  36. Why do you speak as if it was Hahn and Hahn alone who was the lone mastermind and LaRussa and LaRussa alone who now holds the power ? Don't you think the front office has meetings with scouts and people who know minor league and major league personnel and compile a list of players to seek that might number around 100 and start making preliminary calls and start a process and gauge the likelihood of such acquisitions ? Who we do and don't end up with is a combination of availability, and cost of acquiring that is palatable to supple budgetary constraints.

  38. The white sox won't and should not trade Nick MAdrigal. We have a ton of other prospects we can trade np and there's no immediate impact SP on the block that makes sense. Lance Lynn is NOT the guy you trade top prospects for. Would have much rather had Clevinger at his price. Even DeGrom at this point is too old. Blake Snell? Perhaps, but I think he's a FA in a couple years or something, so that makes no sense either.

  40. It will be interesting to see how his twitter goes. He will be able to block people simce it won’t be government business anymore, but he has tweeted things that were suspension or total ban worthy in the past, and probably won’t be able to help himself in the future. It wouldn’t surprise me if his post presidential twitter career doesn’t last very long.
