I'll say this: agents are leaking the Mets and Jays as suitors for everyone like crazy. Be careful how seriously you take public reports.10 points

It's all conjecture ... these reporters and agents and everybody involved have a job to do. Agents want to float rumors so they can build demand and a hopefully a higher price tag. they use reporters who run on clicks & are more than happy to try and start a conversation & keep their own jobs. It's all meh. I can make these rumors up as good as a cheesy beef ... oh look, these teams need an OF and are willing to spend this year. Rumor Mill! Sox, Mets, Jays, etc. are going after Springer, and if they don't get him JBJ and Pederson are good shots. That's not a rumor... its connecting dots. I've been wrong before, but we're not getting Springer or Bauer. I actually think both have a decent shot of going to the Mets. That would be my bet. Sox will end up with Joc Pederson. We all know it, we just don't want to admit it. He's your platoon guy, who will play mostly RF but will bounce around the OF, he has a chance to hit 40 dingers, etc. we'll all convince ourselves after the signing its a good one. We'll add a James Paxton or the likes -- someone who once was really good, and if you squint, maybe can be good again on a 1-2 year deal and we'll call it an offseason. There's a chance we do some big trade ... but theres little to no chance we sign Bauer, Springer or anybody actually good. Someone can quote me on that6 points

The Mets don't really even have a baseball ops team in place that they plan on being in place going forward; it would be odd for Cohen to let these guys splurge and then show them the door. I think the Mets aggressiveness - at least this off-season - is being overblown. That said, hopefully things start moving tomorrow following the tender deadline. I am not hopeful though. I still am not sold that Reinsdorf is going to spend while his friends sit on their hand and cry poor. That's just not Jerry's MO; he usually leads the charge when it comes to collusion.5 points

Based on their salary situation and likely budget, I wouldn't worry about the Padres as serious contenders for Bauer.4 points

So a drunk, a rapist and their friend's son walk into a dugout......4 points

Why would any Sox fan want to waste a year of contention having the team have a mutiny during the season? Honestly it seems some people on here are going to root for the Sox to lose this year just to hate even more on Tony.4 points

No reason to feel defeated yet sox fans, let’s let the offseason play itself out... and most likely end up feeling defeated in march4 points

Every year since 2015 we’ve done this dance where there was no prominent connections to a big free agent to the white Sox but soxtalk still gets hyped due to some insider gossip. The Sox being interested in someone means very little. They will never sign an A free agent even if their front office tries very hard. Even if they are optimistic. The problem will always be other teams exist and also want top free agents.4 points

I gotta say...five years ago if the White Sox had hired a new analytics coordinator I would neither have known nor cared. Now I get to read ten pages about who they are, how Jerry sucks and TLR is a drunk, management favors nepotism and rapists and the rebuild is going in the trash heap. We are living in a world of wonders.3 points

*insert typical Sox fan (out of all teams) response acting like they know other teams' finances and budget and how they can't sign said player*3 points

Actually, we shouldn't hope that. We should hope that they are wildly successful and win it all in year one, and then he rides off into the sunset. I might burn with rage every time I see his drunk dinosaur ass on my tv in my favorite uniform, but I still want the team to win despite him. Wishing for a mutiny is wishing for the worst.3 points

Where have you seen this? everybody here and around the league seem high on Vaughn.3 points

Soxtalk lawyers/resident Soxtalk mega-genius Look at Ray Ray Run, what does this mean exactly?3 points

At the end of the day, all the “posturing” and “stealth mode” BS people claim that the Sox do every single offseason doesn’t mean a damn thing if Jerry isn’t willing to open up the checkbook for the elite free agents.3 points

Guessing the same. The Sox love to tell everyone they are spending and stay in all the off-season rumors. It's the same most years. Not sure why people think going after Springer is a slight of hand to get Bauer. Two things the Sox have zero history of doing.....spending big AAV on a starting pitcher, and winning a bidding war on the top free agents. What they have a history of is coming in a close second and talking about how hard they tried and then going after less costly players.3 points

Glad to see him off twins, but, lots of options in bullpen for them to recover. Notice: Mets signed someone with no GM.2 points

Quintana has made 30 starts 7 of the last 8 years, with last year being the only exception. To me, that’s a huge difference.2 points

If you see no reason for optimism then why are you on this forum? Why spent time on something that gives you no joy?2 points

^^^^^^^^^^ Then we can proceed to rip them a new asshole for not operating like the A's and Rays. They convey to their fanbase that they're an upper tier mid-market club but they continually act like a small market club. Nobody's pretending that they're in the Yankees/Sawx/Dodgers/Cubs/Mets(now) tier but they're supposed to be in the Angels/Giants/Cardinals tier but they won't even go that far.2 points

If the sox would just come out and say we're not going to spend because we're cheap. I would at least respect the honesty even though I think it's bs. Instead it's the same old song and dance year after year. So insulting the crap they feed, as if the fanbase is stupid. Hopefully they do something. Their payroll wasn't high last year. Or the few previous years before that towards the bottom of the league. The crying broke dosen't add up sorry. Again let's see what happens.2 points

Your overall attitude sucks. But that’s alright, I’ll keep being pleasant. And I’ll listen to the actual insider here who told us that Hahn was given control of hiring the pitching coach since TLR wasn’t his choice. Could that insider be wrong? Sure. But that’s why I said “I think” instead of speaking in absolutes like you.2 points

It really smells like a position was created for a family friend to keep Tony happy.2 points

Nah, more like Ivanka Trump, seeing as how Hunter isn't, ya know, actually working for his dad, where as "Individual One" actually has children working for him.2 points

Great, so Shelley Duncan is basically our Hunter Biden?2 points

That’s what I was thinking. McEwing is his mentor and Cairo is supposed to be a great infield coach. Outside of Tony, Timmy should be excited.2 points

We just have to hope that there is a mutiny against La Russa this year.2 points

Were you really expecting him to get replaced?2 points

At least Capra is gone. I swear he caused the Sox to run themselves out of so many innings over the past few years.2 points

Endless infighting among who? Their top execs were all cleared out, Alderson is in place. When he was installed he initially said he was going to interview for a prez of baseball ops and then went back and said that would be him. So clearly they have a decision maker.2 points

Donald Trump Jr. is sending texts looking for donors, saying it's desperation time they need to meet their fundraising goals or the recounts are going to go against them. And virtual none of that money, unless the donation is over $8k actually goes to that effort, it goes to the Trump slush fund. First off, it's amazing to me that this grift is legal. Secondly, what scum. So far this grift has put $170 million into his pocket.2 points

It's great. As long as you have a brick, you don't have to pay for a thing there2 points

Yeah I think the Sox cases are pretty cut and dried. It will be more interesting to see who other teams dump.2 points
