  1. Mr Hendriks is not only a fine human being, but handsome, intelligent, and classy, as well. I am immensely proud that he is now a valuable member of our beloved community and look forward to his immense skills and profound savvy as the finest reliever in the history of baseball.

  3. You guys are underselling Reylo, if you take away his 2020 season and his bad starts from 2019, he’s actually been pretty good.

  5. Soxtalk reference. we made it fellas! For anybody that didn't see it, Liam Hendriks said he read the entire soxtalk thread about him so that was pretty funny to hear.

  6. If you’re a new poster here, don’t bet your house against Greg or have a ban bet against Ron.

  15. Let's be real here, pretty much anyone who is going to play MLB for $2 million falls into one of two buckets. Too young to get paid what they are worth, or back roster filler material. There are pretty much zero players out there who you can go out and sign on the market for $2 million who you expect a lot out of.

  16. The Sox need guys like Lopez as a back up to the staff. Anything you would replace him with would cost the same or more anyway. What will be interesting is they already have some mechanical tweaks in mind, so if they can rebuild him at all, 2 million is nothing if they can get him anywhere close to his potential. This year is probably his make or break year, as his arb price will go up again next year.

  18. Racial intolerance is the new racism. That supercharged Trump's political power with loyal support from white supremacists like those who marched in Charlottesville and those who stormed the Capitol. But racial intolerance is not only found at the fringe. Mainstream Republican ideology dovetails with racial intolerance in many ways - segregation, refusal to acknowledge the impact of generations of slavery, discrimination, unequal policing and justice There can be no compromise with bigotry and racism. They have to be defeated. That didn't happen after the Civil War and probably won't happen for several more generations. So forget the notion that there will ever be unity between Trumpublicans and Democrats. Not gonna happen.

  20. This is my last post on this subject because we have to move on. Liam officially is signed sealed and delivered. As a term used in football “ shut down corners”. We’ve now built a true lily shutdown bullpen. With our offense Liam will not get burned out because we could have some big leads going into the 8th and 9th 😀😀😀😀 We can stay in every game when a starter faulted early. With this bullpen and our offense that can comeback at will, Tony will not let a game get out of hand. Cordero and Lopez in long relief, if Lopez can’t develop into a #5 starter will give the offense time. And as I’ve read, Tony may use Liam in a crucial 6th or 7th inning to shut down a rally with guys like Bummer and Heuer to help out later on. Don’t know if we’ll get another starter or outfielder/DH. I can live with our current options and let Vaughn bat 7th, 8th and grow with occasionally playing 1st to spell Abreu and let him DH in the hot summer days and nights. I can live with Collins as a backup catcher and occasional DH. We Adam Eaton in Right so Robert won’t have to run over like he does left. Worst case senerio Eloy DH and Engel plays left who is no slouching defense infield defense is solid, Abreu’s defense greatly improved, Madrigal if healthy is a good second basemen and a great contact hitter, nothing needs to be said about SS AND 3rd, 😀😀😀. looking for the next move, trade or signing!!!! waiting for the next interesting topic or trade or signing!!!!

  21. Honestly...this can't be true? Why would he come to a team with a racist, drunken manager the cheapest owner in baseball, the dumbest GM in baseball, a team that will NEVER sign a high priced free agent, and that as we speak are trading our entire farm system for the Phillies mascot. Is he even aware of our record from 2013 -2019? Did he know we traded Fernando Tatis, Jr. Soxtalk where optimism goes to be strangled to death.

  26. Might as well light 2.1 million on fire. Whatever. I'd have preferred to just non tender him. The chances he turns into anything more than a shitty mopup guy are about 1/100.

  29. Like the Sox will ever have to pay the luxury tax. JR wouldn’t pay it with the Bulls where they lead the league in attendance, and print money.

  33. You could say that about any shitty pitcher. That being said, Lopez's peripherals have always been shitty since he's been in a Sox uni, so it's no surprise he regressed hard in 2019.

  35. I don't need anything that impacts me directly. I need policies targeted at drastically reducing poverty, and I'm talking about long-term solutions and not just one-time handouts. Reducing poverty reduces crime, reduces the strain on the health care system, and adds taxpayers to the economy. I'm not sure I want to have kids and raise them in the US if something tangible isn't done about poverty. I can't go a week without reading a story about a teenager caught with a stolen vehicle. Kids in the worst communities need better schools, teachers, child care/mentoring, and job opportunities for their parents, so that they see paths forward other than stealing cars.
