Remember when everyone was saying JR's heirs wanted no part of the team when he was no longer around, and I told you it was the exact opposite? I had a really good source.4 points

Missouri is ran very differently than this state. If there is a state that can screw this up, it's ours. Didn't help with football. Lori said the Bears didn't communicate well enough with her.2 points

If it is just tax/estate planning for a sale to a different owner, fine. If it's to control the team in perpetuity after Jerry's death, then it looks like I'll continue allocating White Sox ticket and merchandise money for other entertainment options. 26 U.S. Code § 666 https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/26/6662 points

This effectively moves Avisail Garcia to a 4th OF/bench role. Their OF is now Cain, Bradley, Yelich - basically it is impossible to get a hit on a fly ball against them. In that weak NL Central...could be a difference maker?2 points

The Dodgers sent down Gavin Lux just last year and were criticized for it. Every team does it because it's smart. 7 years of control is better than 6 years of control. It's pretty much a fact.2 points

Cardinals are allowing 32% capacity on opening day. That's encouraging.2 points

You just proved my point. Funny, the Dodgers and Yankees don't play these service time games and they seem to be a lot more successful than White Sox. The Padres are "all in" this season. Trying to finally win the AL Central is not "All In". Fucking over Andrew Vaughn is not going to help the Sox today or tomorrow. Emulate the Dodgers and Yankees, not Seattle and other teams that suck ass in perpetuity.2 points

Watching 6 years of a player is better than watching 5. And if that player is good that gives you a better product for a whole extra year. Remember when our team tried to be good every year? Cuz I do and it sucked. By being bad they actually became good and have given us a better product. I know that doesn’t fit with whatever narrative you are trying to push but this is how you get a better product.2 points

Am I the only person who is not in favor of LuCroy making the team. Keep Yermin and Collins for 2 weeks to see what we have and demote the weaker of the 2 when Vaughn is ready.2 points

He has absolutely and undisputedly, earned a DH spot, just sadly won't be with us.2 points

Agree, and the Sox haven't had the best of records on second basemen recent decades. I'm pretty confident about Madrigal being a team glue guy that may captain the team some day, and play D. But he doesn't seem like a can't miss in terms of being worth a big up front deal in an era that doesn't emphasise batting average. Like, I'm not sure he becomes a mega contract guy on his next deal if the team just let it play out.2 points

Yup not real concerned about Burr, Sousa Tomshaw, Johnson,Dopico, Guerrero, Lindgren, McRae, Medeiros,Paulino, Sadzeck,Vargas and Wright pitching poorly. The majority of guys expected to make the team haven't even pitched for the most part.1 point

I haven’t heard much about the long term side effects but if there was something major, the media would be all over it. Just think of it this way, if you are eligible, get the vaccine because you are helping fight the virus by having more people be vaccinated. Wouldn’t you rather have protection against the variants instead of having nothing at all? The best ways to combat the variants are to vaccinate as many people as possible as quickly as possible and continue to wear masks.1 point

Yoelqui looks good in camp according to Getz. But this was an interesting quote fwiw: So what lies ahead for Cespedes in the immediate future? It will be proving himself at a yet-to-be-determined minor league level to open the season. “The hope is to get him to a full-season club, hopefully get him off to a nice start and see where it ends up in 2021,” Getz said. https://www.radio.com/670thescore/sports/chicago-white-sox/yoelqui-cespedes-on-a-mission-in-white-sox-camp1 point

And Andrew Vaughn will be sitting on the bench in this scenario which seems dumb.1 point

I'm operating under the assumption that because we do have a minor league season, they won't give MiLB players the same courtesy this year. Edit: Because if MLB can screw over minor league players, they will.1 point
-
For sure. I think everybody gets that. I was pointing out the huge hypocrisy of generally pro labor/little guy/$15hr/workers’ rights/anti-rich people...calling for a service time manipulation screw job of Andrew Vaughn. You seriously can’t write this any better. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂1 point

LuCroy is a last resort. Doesnt even have as much potential as EE last year and we saw how that worked out.1 point

6 years is greater than 5 years, folks. Plus, the Sox need to see what they have with the Collins/Yermin tandem. They will be fine waiting for that extra year.1 point

just incredible year and work by University of IL, and their saliva test just got EUA. It's being rolled out across IL. https://chicago.cbslocal.com/2021/03/01/university-of-illinois-covid-saliva-test-approved/ They've done an incredible job this year, and after initial rollout issue, were able to keep a low positivity rate even as things exploded in the fall and then post holiday.1 point
