  4. Lol...nothing better than the douche on the message board who basically defends every decision their favorite team makes because those in charge are “professionals” while the rest of us are just some “dudes” on the internet. Why the fuck are you here if debating actual baseball decisions is not acceptable in your mind? I’m sensing a strong Tommy Longo vibe with you.

  5. Yes, it's brilliant to have a guy on the team because he's so good you can't play service time games with him and risk losing games because of his lost value.... only to sit that player on the bench opening day. Brilliant stuff.

  11. I’m willing to bet that this bullpen is LaRussa saying he needs those guys now and getting his way. They’re going to wind up with both him and Crochet having pitched 60 innings this year and realize next offseason they can’t easily convert either of them to starters with that innings load.

  12. I still absolutely loathe this plan with Kopech. Dude should not in the majors and he should not be pitching out the pen.

  13. Thanks for citing me. One thing I don't do as a poster very often is get into back and forth with another poster. I did some with RayRay Sun earlier this offseason, but when you get into parsing what someone said arguments, it's pointless for everyone else reading the site and just clutters things up. I come off here as very optimistic, but mostly I'm just excited to see this Sox team play and get better. The question of the title of this thread cannot be answered about this Sox team yet, because there are too many young and inexperienced pieces. But ask it again in September and we should have a much clearer answer.

  14. Some of us warned about the injury prone core players and how the Sox did absolutely nothing to insulate themselves this offseason. The thing that sucks about Eloy getting hurt so soon is there’s nothing to guarantee more injuries don’t also occur.

  15. lol we fire one manager who sucks at making lineups because he's stuck in the 90s and hire another manager who sucks at making lineups because his hayday was in the 90s.

  16. I went back and forth with you, giving examples of players from both the White Sox and Yankees on why your “logical premise” was insanely ignorant and WRONG. So you say you deal in only logic, but when someone calls you on, proves your point was based on complete idiocy, and you admit you were wrong...we’re all just supposed to be Ok we had to go through that exercise? No, it was a waste of time then, just like you’re a waste of time now. It’s same shit with you, over and over again. You beat your drum on how all you do is deal in “logic” but when someone calls you on it...we’re attacking your character and not your actual points. But history shows you’re just a liar and that’s not what happened at all. Don’t make me quote the posts to prove it. You’ll look like a bigger clown than you already are, which would be an impressive feet even for you. But you know what? You win. You pulled me once again. I know you aren’t worth the time, but my weakness is low hanging fruit and you provide it up on a platter. Sometimes I take the bait, and that’s my bad. I need to do a much better job of ignoring the trash.

  18. The "negative" posters most times aren't wrong. The "positive" posters most times aren't wrong. I can read Ragah and VaFan ( just 2 random examples, don't beat me up!) and know that I fall somewhere in between and don't feel the need to call either one of them out for being more positive or more negative than me. I think we can all agree that ownership and the front office have been less than perfect over the years, and maybe this year even moreso than others. I think we can all agree that this team is not perfect. There are strengths and weaknesses, alot of coulda woulda shouldas, arguably the most loaded and exciting we've had in years. Can't we all just get along?
    2 points
  19. Now when you say "logic".....you mean saying the Yankees will be much better than the Sox because "they are the Yankees" I know you desperately want to bang the "logic" drum but it's hard to take that seriously when you read the content of your "arguments" You're so full of shit.

  24. No one is policing anything. I'm literally giving my opinion on the topic same as I do in other threads I respond too. He keeps making the same thread because he's tired of people responding with their thoughts? Weird stuff. Also I'm not killing anyone's optimism and I'm as excited as anyone here for baseball to start. I played the game for 19 years, 21 if we count touching a bat at 3 months lol, and play in about 20 fantasy leagues, maintain my own data and statistics, and overall love baseball. Tim anderson is my favorite player since Joe crede, if not ever, and I'm as big of an Andrew vaughn Stan as you'll find. That doesn't mean I'm going to only reap praise on the team even when there are concerns. Either way, once tomorrow comes all of this goes away. It's time to play ball.

  25. No, and again I've posted plenty of excited/optimistic thoughts, this off season and before. I'm just not going to call the white sox the on-paper preseason cream of the crop in the AL. They COULD have been, but they didn't invest the necessary resources. And again, last year when the season actually happened I was constantly berated for being optimistic and enthusiastic and I don't recall once you coming into a thread to defend my optimism in the face of constant negativity. Weird. This implication that my thoughts are constantly negative couldn't be more nonsensical but it all revolves around the idea that posters should post what you want them too.

  26. This is a flat out lie and clearly you are oblivious. It has happened and happened very often, including in this very thread. If someone is being analytical and dissecting something and another is merely complaining that the other person is being negative because the analysis isn't being done to promote positivity, then the latter person is not being logical. They are just complaining. People like yourself mock the people that cite logic because people really hate it when you use logic against them and burn their egos. Period. I'm not talking about anything according to me. I'm talking about the way things objectively are in this case. I could care less what someone *thinks* 2 plus 2 is. It's 4 and always will be. If you disagree because you don't know math then that is not my problem. Complain all you want, but in reality it's futile. You are claiming that something that happens on a clockwork basis doesn't happen at all. It's hysterical. And it's a two way street. People constantly making new topics to promote blind loyalty and "positivity" is also a dead horse being beaten. Because if you constantly have to do that then it tells me you're not as confident as you lead on, otherwise it wouldn't have to be restated (reposted) over and over again.

  27. Jerry convinces La Russa to drive one of the Chevy convertibles during the Opening Day ceremonies to prove he is a changed man. Tony loses control of his Camaro ejecting Southpaw before crashing into the visitor dugout ultimately injuring Salvy Perez. Gene Honda drops a hard F-Bomb on the PA, lights a cig and continues on with the introductions while La Russa is yelling something about Nick Madrigal. Angel Hernandez ejects Tony for lowering his mask to scream. Thunderstruck.

  31. It's absurd because it's not real. That hasn't happened here. You can't cite a single of instance of anyone actually believing that. Someone complaining about you or other posters just beating the same dead horse over and over about the same points is quite different than people objecting to critical points around the team. For example, I have plenty of gripes about how this organization has performed over the last decade plus, and have posted them....multiple times. It's also not the only content I post. The majority of my posts are not responding to people saying "According to me, your logic is flawed and that makes you ignorant, here is why I'm right and the Sox aren't as good as you think they are." When that type of content seems like it's the majority of what comes from a certain poster.....that's where the objection comes in.

  32. Crochet I guess I am ok with what they are doing. He is such a weapon out of the pen and I am still not convinced he is a SP moving forward, so I can understand why you wouldn't want to "waste" those innings in the minors. However, I hope they plan to have him piggyback Rodon on games Carlos doesn't pitch well but Sox are still in. They need to get Crochet to at least 80-100 innings this year if he has any chance of being in the rotation next year. Kopech? I have absolutely no idea what they're doing and I hate it. They can't possibly think that Rodon/Lopez is going to get them through the season in the 5 spot. I hope this is merely a way to control Kopech's innings, and he'll be starting games by mid summer. We need him starting games down the stretch. But this whole plan is dumb - he should be making short AAA starts until June to keep his innings in control and then call him up. This pen stuff is trash.

  33. QFT. I really don't understand the widespread lack of logic and basic analysis around here. None of these things are hard to put together. The idea that you can't be critical of something being done poorly and love the team is such absurdity.

  34. Hmmm who is more likely to fill their holes by acquiring quality players via money at the deadline. The team that's done it every year for 4 decades or the team who has the 15th ranked payroll in baseball during an all-in year?

  35. How was he burned? Top free agents are not the same as bottom. No one gets burned waiting out the bottom of the market. Again with this nonsense that people expect management and ownership to do what they said they would after 4 years of tanking are some how trolls. I guess you expected a payroll lower than 2006 while they're all-in after years of not spending a dime on the on the field product. The only trolls are the people like you who think viable criticism is somehow not allowed and all we can do is praise a team and management group that has accomplished nothing. The cubs weren't getting into a bidding war over Joc Pederson. Bottom freee agents don't cause bidding wars. Nothing you said makes any sense. The la russa hiring was shit - both process and outcome wise. Nothing will change that. How can you say no one can critique hahns negotiating lol. Amazing nonsense in this post all around.

  36. Pablo Ozuna comes out of retirement to back up Buehrle in the pen. Geoff Blum and Scotty Pods enjoy the actions from the stands. Rowand and Brian Anderson do their usual running commentary for CBS Sports Radio. TLR brings Buehrle (and his wife) back into the Sox fold through his animal charities advocacy. Ethan Katz is NOT naming Pitching Coach of the Year. Don Cooper goes the entire season quietly without getting into an argument with a single fan.

  37. Well, the advantage of a much younger team is that they don't know they're NOT supposed to be there. (Of course, we have an experienced now veteran core mostly 20-somethings and then Grandal/Abreu/Keuchel/Lynn/Hendriks.) On paper, it's pretty darned close to the perfect balance. Thinking about so many of our really young players that we've been talking about all off-season. Between changing to Ventura in 2012 (re-set), we saw a mostly rookie-led pitching staff (outside of Sale and the other obvious names) compete for 90% of the season with the Tigers. We also witnessed a completely different mindset on defense...so it's probably fair to say at least in the majority of examples that a coaching regime change can or often does have a positive impact, at least in the short-term. In the end, missing Jimenez might be exactly the opportunity that Vaughn, Collins and even Mercedes needed. Typically, young White Sox players have been blocked in competing years, but this is a completely different approach than we've seen for most of the last two decades, going all the way back to those late 90's teams with Konerko/Cameron, Ordonez, C-Lee, Durham and all the young pitching.

  38. Saturday is a righty. And I will be real fired up if vaughn is only facing lefties. Would make zero sense to have him in the team opening day if that's the case.

  40. And now Andrew vaughn is not starting opening day. The idiocy of Tony la russa has already begun.

  41. No, I do not mean that and I retracted that. And technically that is not even what I had said. Can you acknowledge that in your next reply? I doubt you will. Because you probably are concerned more with being right than reaching a logical conclusion. And now you yourself are doing what you just said never happens here, and you are just complaining about what I said rather than making a counterpoint about the actual context I put into perspective. I'm definitely not full of shit. And at the very least you obviously can't explain how and why. I'm sorry if I sounded like a dick but there's no easy way to tell someone that they are wrong. I'm not beating any drum, I'm simply telling the truth. And you proved it by failing to provide a counterpoint, failing to refute how what I said is based on logic, complaining about what I said without actually dissecting it, and then lashing out at me and ignoring the actual point I made. Know why you have to do all that? Because you're wrong. Sorry. Basically you're just attacking me while ignoring what I actually said.

  42. Didn't know where else to put this but I wish there was an opening day game tonight like they used to do. Just one game to open the year the day before everyone else plays. As a kid, it was always one of my favorite nights (minus the fact it was on ESPN).

  43. 1/4 of the posts don't qualify. Hendricks leading the lead in saves and Bummer leading in holds ? Timmy being MVP and Moncada top 5 in MVP just to name a few. Timmy came in 5th last year in MVP votes and Moncada got MVP votes in 2019. We got some wet noodle ideas about the definition of bold even after your qualifier.

  45. Hahn may be the worst executive ever but he is far from a bad negotiator. He was burned with prolonging the process into the spring in the past. Joc may have gotten the Sox and cubs into a bidding war and made more money. Seems like Joc and his agent are the one's that was burned but that doesn't fit the White Sox are cheap Hahn sucks narrative of the self loathing sector of Soxtalk. This thread is the culmination of a long and for some reason dreary Soxtalk offseason that saw Soxtalk clamoring for them to spend money then piss and moan about the money that was spent previously. Trade for veterans and take on money then tell everyone that Dane Dunning is the next Shane Bieber. I am still waiting for Tim Anderson to demand a trade because the manager is a right wing lunatic. The veteran catcher that had a great spring was released to open two opportunities for young players, the years of service game was once again not a part of the White Sox business model but yet here we are again pissing and moaning in the thread that was created to talk about the potential of the White Sox. I really think this site is more trolls than fans or maybe White Sox fans really just do hate the White Sox.
