Rick Hahn was named GM in late October, 2012. He was assistant GM beginning in 2002. But just looking at his run as “the guy”.....he didn’t have a winning season in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019......it took a COVID-shortened season for him to achieve his first winning record as GM, and the Sox won one game in the Playoffs. He has been the man in charge for 8+ seasons and has 1 playoff victory to his name. No, I will not be apologizing to Rick Hahn. As others have said, it would be far more appropriate for the organization to apologize to us.

Bah…..apologize? He should apologize to us for how long we’ve been waiting and nothing has really been accomplished yet. It’s still early in the season but “we” should apologize? That’s ridiculous.

Vaughn had 2 of the 4 hits. That should earn him some time off.

Ok, I'm game: 1. Apologize? For what, exactly? 2. Looking at Hahn's record as GM, what, exactly, has he accomplished? 3. Some of his key acquisitions over the years have taken a giant shit. Some that are CURRENTLY with this team haven't worked out, or have not worked out as well as hoped. Where has he been right, where most of us have been wrong? 4. This feels like trying to "spike the football" before crossing the end zone. Exactly what has been won in this season? Thanks in advance.

I have nothing against Rick Hahn, but I don't think I have to apologize to him. What am I, as a fan, have to be sorry for? Going on 13 years without a division title which is the second longest such stretch since divisional play began in 1969? The rebuild is shaping up, but the White Sox haven't won anything yet. We will see if this process truly works out and how serious this franchise is about winning.

Every metric has this team as one of baseball's best. Sure things can go wrong, but about 1/6 of the way this club looks pretty loaded. Even the fringe guys are doing enough, often enough to help the club win. At this point, and once again -- it's early, the greatest worry perhaps to have is that a richer club decides to give Hahn the keys this offseason.

It gets dumber though because Tony was already wanting to play Jake Lamb today anyway because he can't have a game where at least two bench bats play, gotta keep them from getting stale while the starters have the texture of croutons because of how little they've played

Hahaha...deliberately trying to spark an argument, aren’t you? Well, Abreu, Grandal, Giolito, Keuchel and Hendriks have combined for something like -0.6 value, but the Sox are still sitting pretty with everything in the division resting on the Royals’ starting pitching somehow holding up. Right now, I would happily hand over the organization to the Brewers, Giants (new GM has hit FA pitcher after FA pitcher right on the head), Astros, Dodgers, Cardinals, Braves, Rays, A’s, Indians, etc., front offices and not even blink. Heck, I will throw in Kim Ng from Miami fir good measure. But, with the requirement there be a payroll floor of $150 million going forward in order to legitimately compete for a World Series title. A stronger GM stands in the way of JR and forces his owner to choose between sentimental heart/emotion and rational logic/pragmatism and risk mitigation, which Hahn mostly represents. If he’s actually as coveted as everyone claims, he should easily be able find another top position despite the clearly less than stellar FA and drafting record.

Ridiculous. You expected them to shell out big bucks for another bench player? Who exactly do you have in mind? No team in baseball would be able to replace the likes of Robert and Eloy.

Tauchman was available and the Giants got him for next to nothing. Plays all 3 OF spots very well. 3 run HR today. Dammit

BREAKING: Jake Lamb sucks ass

Oh my goodness. It just won't end despite all the evidence to the contrary. Giolito's xFIP is 3.2 - the lowest of his career. Unless you think Giolito is suddenly a 22.7% HR/FB guy, Giolito has been absolutely fine. His LOB% is 10% below his career average, and is actually 3.5% lower than it was in the year where he was the worst pitcher in baseball. Sequencing has gotten him, and ONE BAD INNING vs the Red Sox has inflated the heck out of his numbers. Giolito is FINE.

Tony La Russa's baseball IQ is so ridiculously high, most of us simply can't understand the moves he is making. He is truly a baseball savant. 300 IQ.

So fired up - Fields has so much upside. I heard a former gm on radio today - said he was being asked by so many why fields was falling on boards (media perception). Said he talked to scouts for multiple teams - who apparently said whose boards - cause he was the clear #2 qb on their boards and they weren’t moving any of the other guys with helium up. I think Fields at 11 could be the steal of the draft in a few years and if it isn’t - oh well. Go big or go home at qb. Let’s go!

Tony said that wasn't why Mercedes was benched. He wasn't mad at Mercedes for being late. Tony said it was just a tough decision between using him or Lamb at DH. Lamb got the edge. It was an asinine choice, simple as that.

TBH minus Luis, Eloy, and TLR at the helm of this team... how quickly has the desire to watch this team fallen?

Overall the reality is there is nothing about this team that says WS contender. Our SP is pretty solid but that is not enough.

I'm fine with bench players playing, but it should be 1 per game, and they shouldn't bat 5th. The wrong people are on the roster (Mendick over Lamb). Leury plays more than Vaughn. Tony's creating new positions for Lamb to play in his age 30 season. If Ricky attempted any of this, he would be crucified, and justifiably so. Tony does it and when he is called out, its "ageism" and "he's a hall of famer". People in the hall of fame are long removed from the game and or dead. There is a reason no manager will ever return in a similar manner.

With as many problems as this team has had, if we can continue to hover just above a .500 record until we get Robert back, i think this team is still in great shape to straighten itself out and go on a tear where they win 15/20 and take control of this division, especially given how the twins have struggled so far. I can’t imagine this royals record will last.

I've had jobs where if you didn't clock in on time they sent you home. I really don't have an issue sitting a guy who is a repeat offender at being late. It's all about accountability. Even Joe Maddon the most lax manager only had 2 rules, play hard and show up on time.

Tbh, Yermin should start over Jose at least once during that series at 1B. Hopefully he's been working on his defense there. Jose has been bad and still hasn't gotten a day off. We need Yermin's bat.

Dominkk I see you do this all the time, and I love your enjoyment of metrics, but this is just not how they were meant to be used. The projectability of 47 ab's (the total amount Vaughn has) using his current statistics has an R value still well south of .5 (sitting around .32-.42 depending on which stat you're looking at). That means even his entire sample still isn't yet a great indicator of what he's going to be as a hitter in his next AB or his next 100 AB's. By taking the sample down even smaller, to being L/R splits, you are dropping the R value down to .25-.32 depending on the metric you are looking at. The only thing that sees an R value near to past .5 over 50 AB's are K/BB metrics, and even then it just creeps over. It is typically the fastest to normalize. There is no need to take a small sample and make it smaller and start drawing conclusions on what Vaughn can and can't do. Is it possible he has been more comfortable vs lefties than righties this year? Sure. Is it predictable to the point of making a decision based on it? No.
