  1. instead of tossing personal insults and absurd hot takes, you can actually take the time to learn from others. Few if any of your posts are accurate, including your rants about posters here, announcers like Jason or Harry, or anything else related to the game of baseball. A manager's primary responsibility is to put his team in the best position to win. Inserting Liam Hendricks as your lead runner instead of Abreu, or literally anyone else would be a better option. Stealing second with the lead run at third, especially without the threat of a double steal due to the absurd decision above, and fact you have a solid catcher behind the plate was absurd. Batting Hamilton in yet another crucial situation was absurd.

  2. but no one here is saying they knew the rule.. so nice strawman we just said Tony should know it... i dont give a fuck if any of those people you listed know the rule. They aren't managing a team in 2021 - where literally every last bit of information is at your finger tips. The "nobody" knows that excuse really doesn't work in any area of life - not when its that persons job to know.

  4. The problem with Larussa is he may have forgotten more than you ever knew but he also has forgotten it all. The same larussa jock sniffers will blame everyone but Tony. Now it's MLB fault larussa doesn't know rules they told manager in spring lol

  5. You know what all those people have in common? None of them are currently managing a major league team. The manager of a Major League Baseball team better damn well know the rules and how to best apply his personnel based on them.

  6. Len didn’t know the rule. Jason didn’t know the rule. Frank didn’t know the rule. Ozzie didn’t know the rule. Hall of Famers, World Series tacticians, and the greatest minds in baseball broadcasting didn’t know the rule either. You could split Tony or any of the above 4 people in half, and they’d be smarter than any twitter kook or poster here. But let’s give credit where credit’s due - 95% of the posters here and all the twitter kooks deserve an Oscar for pretending they knew the rule all along just so they could get their “Gotcha!” moment in the 24/7 Salem witch trials they’ve conducted since November. Take your victory and bask in it for the next 48 hours - this is a Super Bowl-esque holiday for many. Tony got rulebook’d today. But when Tony takes over October, it’s game over.

  9. We are 16-13 and I feel like this seasons lost. I know it isn't, but it feels that way with the clubhouse drama and LaRussa. This is the most confused I have ever felt as a fan, because its not the play on the field I am so irate about. Hamilton and Leury are in positions that they shouldn't be in. I find them frustrating but I understand their limitations, and I don't fault them for being so bad. I guess my issue comes with the overwhelming feeling that this organization is a mess. From the reports that our minor leaguers don't get the coaching and preparation needed, the front office talking shit about the fans on a consistent basis, the rumors about Jerry saying second place is where he wants to be, the indefensible hire of a 76 year old with legal and drinking issues who is out of touch with the game, the lack of spending, the lack of trust in analytics, and the weekly embarrassing moments that happen on and off the field. Its all so tiresome. The injuries that have been plaguing this team havent helped either of course. This year was supposed to be a real treat, and in a lot of ways it has. Mercedes, Kopech, Rodon, Cease, the list goes on. There is a lot to be happy about even with all the injuries, but the bad is just overwhelming and distracting. A new front office and ownership would really be a breath of fresh air. This TLR debacle is incredibly frustrating because we are stuck with it.

  11. It's embarrassing this is the defense some of the more "positive" minded fans are coming up with tonight. STOP COMPARING YOURSELF WITH A MAJOR LEAGUE MANAGER. In the same post, you say "I know for certain that LaRussa has forgotten more than I ever knew about the game." So by that account, fans and managers shouldn't be compared. Yet in your attempt to somehow defend LaRussa, you're blaming baseball for changing the rules? Even though the manager across the dugout knew what the rule was? Have you seen any other manager make that mistake this year? So I don't really think you do understand why fans are frustrated. LaRussa is sitting in the dugout making MILLIONS a year, and you're blaming MLB for Tony not being up on the rule changes? Really?

  13. Having had time to sit with what took place today....it’s somehow worse. You have the leader in the clubhouse playing without a full deck. You had the manager of the Reds come out and say today “Yeah, the league made it really clear what the new rule was going to be during Spring Training.” So the Sox are already taking the field at a disadvantage, as the guy calling the shots isn’t working off the same information the other dugout has. This is levels of incompetence I honestly couldn’t comprehend in the off-season. The cherry on top was LaRussa seemingly being OK “learning on the job” from the media, specifically from a 32-33 year old James Fegan. It’s an absolute embarrassment that this entire organization should be ashamed of.

  16. David Wells was the only White Sox player I ever booed, when he was puking booze on the mound and failed to record an out in his start against the Cubs. Carlos Lee, a far superior defensive OF compared to Eloy, bailed Wells’ dumb ass out in extras. It was glorious! https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHA/CHA200106080.shtml Wells was the clown how trashed Frank for not playing hurt, for his shoulder injury that shut him down for the season. https://tht.fangraphs.com/tht-live/10th-anniversary-of-david-wells-most-asinine-moment-5-3-11/ Game including Wells’ “performance”archived here: https://m.facebook.com/WhiteSox/videos/1133234710388686/

  17. That's sort of the point of all this. They really shouldn't matter too much. When Spring Training began, LaRussa could have had one of the easiest jobs in baseball. The lineup was set, the rotation was set, the bullpen was basically set. Now, things have gotten a lot more complicated because of injuries, there is no doubting that. People are always going to criticize a manager when he makes the wrong bullpen decision, or pitching to a guy instead of working around him, etc. That's part of the game, always will be. People will be on both sides of the argument. What's not acceptable is what we saw today, and what we've already seen from LaRussa is a very short time. This is now the third tine where LaRussa has had to "apologize" to the fan base/media for a bad call. The Foster debacle and Giolito being out of gas were bad, but those were "gut" calls he got wrong. Today is a WHOLE new level. He didn't know a rule. The other manager did. Knowing the rules of the game you are managing seems like pretty basic stuff. And if it's "too confusing" for someone to keep with up with all the changes, maybe being an ML manager isn't for you. So I don't want to hear about people just picking on LaRussa because of his age, or his DUI's or whatever else. He's shown us, multiple times, that he is overmatched in 2021.

  21. OK, let's play the blame game.. The Sox got 2 hits in 10 innings. LOL. Vaughn 0-3 with a strike-out and a key grounder into double play to kill a potential rally. Why did Tony even start Vaughn against a tough pitcher like Gray? Vaughn has been over-matched against top pitching.

  22. If this was the first or even 2nd WTF moment in the first 29 games I don't we would be making this much of a big deal about it but it has to be the 4th or 5th WTF moment of the year. It is infuriating that we are stuck with him

  23. Maybe Eloy and Robert would not have been injured if there was a different Ownership group. Maybe fans would not complain about their frustration after every single loss and try to blame the owner and manager.

  25. Tony is the manager. He should know the rules. We would expect Renteria to know the rules. Fans expect Matt Nagy to know the rules. Whether that cost the Sox the game, we will never know but why is no one questioning Tony's covering for Hendiks, saying he is a closer and since he wasn't closing it was not a good spot for him. Then why the fuck is he pitching? Nothing the guy says makes ay sense like his Yermin being scratched story. Maybe he has had too much to drink over the years and is getting pickled.

  26. For his career, Billy Hamilton has only hit into a double play in 4.4% of his opportunities to do so (league average is just under 11%). With a runner on third and less than 2 outs, Hamilton has scored the runner on 47.6% of opportunities (league average is 50.4%). To keep the same chance of scoring a single run, Garcia would need to have basically a 99% chance of successfully stealing 2nd base. And even from a total expected runs in the inning standpoint Garcia would need to have like an 80-85% chance to steal that base. Just inexplicable decision making.

  27. Let's also not discount the fact that even if Tony's understanding of the rule was correct, that double switch was also idiotic.

  34. White Sox fans were calling for Tony's firing from 1980 through when he was fired, except for the second half of 1983. This isn't ageism. It's not liking how a guy runs a team. When you are stacked, it doesn't matter. Tony has had the great fortune of managing teams with great players. Once those great players left or got hurt, his teams were bad.

  35. LOL. Post-game mentioned how the only other modern era pitcher to have 10+ Ks, allow no more than 1 hit, and get 3 hits did with the bat today was Catfish Hunter. Ozzie then says thank god Hawk isnt still calling the game, or else we would have had to hear Hawk talk about Catfish Hunter the entire rest of the game. Then Ozzie did a Hawk impression. "I tell you what, Catfish Hunter was the best..." That was good stuff.

  38. Bevington did some weird crap and the players hated him. He will always be known for signaling to the bullpen with no one warming up, but no one mentions the time when a bad call went the Sox way and he went out to argue anyway. Both managers were screaming at the same umpire. Oddly enough, Tony's run in Oakland ended while Bevington was still around and JR wanted to bring him back, but Schueler didn't want him,and he wasn't hired. That was a sharper 50 year old version of Tony. One thing this not knowing the rules proves is Tony isn't this mad baseball genius spending his days looking for an edge. That wouldn't be sincere. Wouldn't be legit. .

  39. Agree 100% with all of these. 1. Why not double switch Mendick for Madrigal, instead of Lamb for Vaughn. 3. Sounds like LaRussa called for the steal, which is beyond ridiculous. Of course your top closer who probably has not been running bases in a few years, is not going to read that and score on the double steal. If trying to avoid the DP, the IF was playing for the play at home - Hamilton is unlikely to be doubled up - and most of all Hamilton would have to actually make contact with the ball. 5. Hamilton absolutely should not have been allowed to bat in that situation. He is not a major league hitter, no way he could hit a fly ball that would be deep enough to score Hendricks. You have Collins, Mercedes, Mendick, and Eaton available to pinch hit. I get that Eaton is banged up, and needed a day off, but he can PH and play the field for an inning. Chose to not even watch the bottom of the 10th, knowing full well how it would play out. Lastly, I will say that LaRussa not knowing that a pitcher does not have to be the runner is inexcusable. BUT, there are a helluva lot of coaches in the dugout and bullpen, and if none of them knew that rule either then that is quite an indictment on the entire staff and the organization that brought them in. It is time for LaRussa to step away, and I think the Hamilton/Garcia/Lamb days need to be over. You keep veterans who can contribute off the bench, not veterans who bring nothing.

  48. Gio just needs to get it together. Honestly...could Sox dangle Keuchel for a similar over priced outfielder to a team in need of pitching at the deadline? I know that isn't ideal, but Kopech will be in the rotation late summer and never losing his spot. And I would rather the Sox spend 30-40 mil for 2 more years of Lynn over Keuchel. August rotation: Gio Lynn Rodon Kopech Cease 2022 rotation Gio Kopech Lynn Cease Lefty FA (Rodon obviously if price is right) until Crochet is ready in the fall /2023
