  1. So your gotcha is a picture that includes a 2-0 count, with a 3rd rate photoshop job. Boy if this isn't an accurate reflection of every single one of your posts, I don't know what is.

  2. At this point, you're legitimately trolling.

  3. It's really quite simple. Given the injuries to Eloy and Robert, the Sox thus far have played above my expectations. The players, and coaching staff...including LaRussa....deserve credit for that. But two things can be true at once, as we all know. Someone like @Green Line is the perfect example. Here is his most recent "defense" of LaRussa. No actual defense of the moves LaRussa made, but instead talking about the winning record he has thus far with the Sox in 2021. HOWEVER....when I brought up the record Ricky had in 2020 (which is better than the 2021 White Sox at this point) he wanted no part of that discussion: It's just a bit for them at this point. Guys like Green Line and @tray really don't serve any purpose other than to play the fool, try and rile people up with low hanging fruit. I enjoy embarrassing them from time to time but it's hard to muster up the energy when they are getting lazier and lazier with their efforts in defending LaRussa. Just doesn't seem worth it anymore. Sad, really.

  4. Sox won 5 of the last 6 games. This kind of mean-spirited garbage is not helpful as the team and the fan base is attempting to gain some momentum.

  5. This is hack-level misuse of this statistic, comparing a career counting stat total with the "awful" assessment in a single season. That would be like saying a player with 100 career RBI is elite because 100 RBI is a lot for one season. On top of that, even a cursory glance at his numbers would show you that a whopping -1.67 of that -2.11 came in 2016 alone, and that every other season he's been within -0.5 to +0.5. This is just a comically bad take and/or fabricated narrative; it's like how you'd expect cable political news to use data. Also, suggesting that we should be concerned about playoff performance because of leverage index is, at best, a complete misunderstanding of leverage index. And it's not a great statistic, anyway. It's really a different expression of WPA, which is useful in a descriptive way that same way RBI or runs scored is -- meaning it can be a really compelling part of say, and MVP conversation, but an incredibly bad number to use to make any sort of projection or assessment of talent. The reason this stat is rarely talked about is because it's been shown to have practically no predictive value, meaning it would be a bad idea to make decisions based on it, or similarly, to be "worried about him in the playoffs."

  6. Yermin had two really hard hit balls today. Him pressing a little and expanding the zone is frustrating. He has been doing that all year though and fouling off tough pitches. Ups and downs will happen. He’s batting something like .138 since that home run off goofy ass Astudillo. Doubt that history of events has anything to do for his slide. He was also hit in the head recently (yes a breaking ball) but that can still mess with a players approach especially the way he crowds the plate. His hitting statistics (although in the minors) shows that he will make necessary adjustments. The guy had one big league AB coming into this season. Just like Nick struggling and now hitting like .350 over the last couple weeks. Same with Vaughn right now. You guys we have a lot of young bats in the lineup with some lofty expectations set by us. There is a reason they are up here and there is a reason all 3 of them have helped the White Sox this season so far to a 2.5 game lead in the division. Hell that play in LF today by Vaughn was ridiculous! Saved at least a run and helped Cease get out of that shit show of a first inning.

  8. Correct, and I suspect both ideas coexist in the minds of most reasonable fans, who realize: (1) the team is playing well, for which TLR deserves some credit; (2) TLR has made some very questionable in-game moves and created unnecessary controversy, which is concerning; (3) we hope the questionable decisionmaking improves or is eclipsed by the team's overall success and talent, and that we win the WS and are too overjoyed to concern ourselves with which of those things it was. There - come out of your trenches, maintain some flexibility and humility, and enjoy this great season.

  12. There's no need to go back and forth with Chitown on this; he was one of the guys saying the exact same thing about Renteria last year that we're saying about LaRussa this year. He understands but would rather play naive and pretend it's an absurd narrative because he loves laRussa for reasons no one understands and feels the need to defend his laughable first post in this thread through thick and thin.

  13. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/jose-abreu/15676/stats#win-probability Per Fangraphs clutch stat, Jose is -2.11 over his career. The stat measures how good a player is in high leverage situations. See below for more on the stat. https://library.fangraphs.com/misc/clutch/ Over an entire season, -2.0 would be "Awful", while +2.0 would be "Great". I've always said it, but Jose crumbles under pressure and in the cold. Is anybody else concerned about him in the playoffs when it will certainly be colder?

  14. Glad you are “all in” this season when we are set up for now and the future. Yes we do need a couple bats. Their names are Eloy & Luis. Kopech is going no where. Thank God you are not the GM.

  17. As is the complaining about the complaining. This team isn’t perfect and critiques aren’t unfounded. Shit does happen and I do know plenty about the game thanks. Shit happening is worth discussing even if it’s tedious at times to read the same expressions of frustration.

  19. It's pretty evident now the number one factor in Crochet's development as a starting pitcher was to save a couple million dollars on a left handed reliever.

  20. Again - believe me when I say this - you give yourself way too much credit. The vitriol you spew only serves to ensure that everyone else tunes you out. You are embarrassing no one but yourself.

  21. Or a good Carlos Rodon and Dylan Cease.

  22. If Renteria had Lance Lynn to start game 3 of the playoffs, there's a good chance that TLR would still be in Arizona right now bragging about being a hall of fame person.

  23. Not to mention a completely different version of Rodon and Cease.

  24. I've heard a couple prep pitcher names in the later rounds but not a lot on 1st round guys. I think they'll take a college arm if one falls to them but it looks like their focus at the top is on HS hitters with power.

  25. The criticism is happening in real time in game, and often beforehand because we see it coming. Has been all season. Hindsight is only brought up by those that aren't watching it unfold or can't see it with their blinders on.

  26. There are 108 games left in the regular season. Even if the Sox go on a .620 winning clip, that is over 40 losses still to come. I guess we'll have this group TLR venting session at least 40 more times. This one is coming off a 5 game win streak, no less.

  27. This is what the LaRussa stans fail to understand, or just don't want to. It's not about the game today. It's about Game 165 or 166, where he is calling for a bunt in the third inning, or using Leury because of a matchup, or playing for a single (whatever the fuck that means) or not knowing when his starter is gassed.... It's the same reason I keep brining up the record of Ricky last year at this time...........that was all fine and good, but we knew he wasn't a big game manager and we all saw what happened. And I know this is where LaRussa's lab rats come over the top and say "He's in the Hall of Fame, he knows how to manage in a big game!" but that was a decade ago. The game has changed, as has LaRussa. We're all hoping for the best. But there are very obvious warning signs...............Cody Parkey says hello

  31. That was a tough loss men. Forget it and focus on kicking their asses tomorrow. Even if we lose, we still leave town in first place, but it sure would be nice to hold serve with a split.

  36. Did he make a speech in the middle about Leury Garcia bring the most underrated utility player in baseball since McEwing/Oquendo?
    2 points
  37. Yes, he is sensitive. He blocks tons of people for disagreements.

  38. The Sox outperformed expectations last year FAR MORE than they have this year.

  39. Saving Leury for possible late game pinch hitting duties again I see!
    2 points
  40. This right here. Leury is a great player to have off of your bench in 2021. In an era where teams carry a ton of pitching, having a guy who can stand in at 6 positions respectably is a big asset. He is just not a guy who want getting 500 ABs, but injuries to 3 of your top 4, and at times, 4 of your top 5 OFs will put your #5 guy into a starting role.

  41. No - you beat all the best teams always. It's what real bros do. Anything less and standings, run differential, offensive/pitching statistics be damned, *I* am unimpressed.

  42. I really think someone needs to show Tony splits, and also show him Leury Garcia is not, and never has been, a decent LH hitter. They would have most likely lost the second game even if Tony acted like he knew what was going on, but give the team a chance.

  43. Please, carry on yourself. Move on, whatever. Stop embarrassing yourself for gods sake

  44. You can complain about EVERY decision in every loss. If this decision was made, perhaps there may have been a different outcome. So what? At this point, the LaRussa trolls have become predictable and their 20/20 hindsight is more than lame. This is a winning team with a winning Manager. Go ahead, complain the rest of the season. JR doesn't care and neither do most Sox fans....especially if we keep winning and are in or around first when the big boys come back in August. I guess some people have made this a cause and almost a hobby, but it only amounts to useless time wasted making oneself miserable. Carry on.

  45. You're showing us a lousy MS paint job as proof, keeping an argument alive that many others have moved on from, because you want attention.

  46. It’s not about losing, it’s about not doing his best to give his team a chance to win. Would letting two righties hit against clase(jnstead of our two worst hitters no less) mean that the Sox win last night‘s game? Probably not. Would it have increased their chances? Absolutely. But you guys are just purposefully dense. Sox got royally screwed by the umpire in the first game. Any manager with a pulse will chirp at the umpire and defend his guys. Tony is fast asleep at the wheel like he had one too many driving from his favorite bar.
