  1. The time has come for Rick and Tony to have a serious talk with Eloy. Rick Hahn We have a question. Do you want to be an outfielder, or do you want to appear to be an outfielder? It's an honest question. Lot of guys want to appear to be outfielders. Glove, sunglasses, pretend they can play the position. Tony La Russa A lot of them want to lay in a net and fall asleep at the wheel. Eloy Jimenez I'm all set without your own personal job application, Skipper. With all due respect Sir, what do you want from me? Tony: Hey asshole, he can't help you. I know what you are, OK. I know what you are, and I know what you're not. I'm the best friend you have on the face of this Earth, and I'm going to help you understand something, you punk. You're no fucking outfielder. Rick: He's right. We deal in deception here. What we do not deal with is self-deception. Five years from now, you can be anything else in the world. But you will not be a major league outfielder. Eloy: Are you sure of that? Rick: I'm sure of that. Tony: Guaran-fucking-teed.

  2. What do I care about Ruiz, Burr, and frankly, Heuer, based on their performance right now? All 3 can be sent down right? Lopez can’t be worse than them, because the worst he could be is awful and the way already have that. Send one of those 3 down when a trade is made and see if maybe, just maybe, Lopez out of the bullpen is something and we steal an extra decent reliever for the last 2 months?

  3. Eloy, Robert, Grandal, new 2nd baseman, two relievers. You're looking at 1/4 of the roster being upgraded in the next few weeks.

  7. Congratulations to Hawk Harrelson, who will be inducted along with other broadcasters and writers today into the Baseball Hall of Fame. He was elected last year, with the ceremony postponed until today due to the pandemic. The ceremony will be televised tomorrow (see link below for details). https://baseballhall.org/news/2021-awards-presentation-broadcast-july-25 Regardless of your opinion of Hawk as announcer or general manager, nobody could question his love for and allegiance to the Chicago White Sox over the decades, and his love of the game. Hope he and his family and friends have a great day celebrating Hawk Harrelson's career!

  8. Yoan is not stupid. He thought he hit the plate or possibly he knew he missed it. If it was the latter, perhaps he thought he might get tagged out when he went back to tag it. Then seeing the ump call you safe, why try to go back and risk getting tagged out ? I'm getting tired of fans calling Yoan lazy and stupid and Eloy stupid and crazy. They are just young men playing baseball. Cut it the fvk out with calling them stupid.

  9. This is all on Yoan...just step on the plate next time. Maybe slide so this doesn't happen again.

  10. There probably isn't a catcher in baseball everyone here would be satisfied with, honestly.

  11. what a clown show, this is a playoff team? 1 run in 13 innings, boneheaded plays, we are lucky the indians are losing again

  15. Facts. This is why they need to STHU about being 9 games up and win games for HFA.

  16. That was BenO's point. Why risk trying to go back and touch the plate even if you thought you missed it after you have been called safe? The ump's call has finality when he signifies a run has been scored, unlike a call at one of the other bases. A safe call at home, the runner heads into the dugout.

  17. Please remember to touch home plate next time. Thank You!

  18. Sheets is hitting the ball pretty hard.

  19. Called him safe twice. Once on the initial play, then again on the appeal when they gave the catcher the ball and he stepped on the plate. Of course Yoan could've just slid across the plate and all this doesn't happen.

  23. Or to the Pirates for Adam Frazier. This guy isn't going to start with the Sox ever.

  24. Another bone head running play by Yoan. Should have gone back and stepped on the plate. This umpire crew sucks complicating this play.

  26. He called him safe, what is he supposed to do? If he doesn't call anything then he has to go back

  31. Remember when Ozzie and Ozney got so offended that Ozney was drafted in the 22nd round that Ozney didn't sign and he was never drafted again? And how Oney Guillen ragged on Jenks, who famously battled depression and addiction, for crying in the clubhouse, leading to his resignation as a scout? Apples don't fall far from the tree.

  32. yeah it seems that way, James laid it out nicely here.

  33. This may shock everyone, but most teams have a problem beating good teams with good pitching. 9 game lead missing 4 regular players. What you are asking for is the impossible.

  34. I'd honestly be so down for something like this. Once a month? Hawk was a lot more fun when he was calling for a good team and you know hed be having a blast calling for this one.

  36. Stone is to Vaughn like some posters have become and I suspect he might be part of the reason. I prefer to evaluate players based on what I see, not what others, including Stone, tell me what to see. IMO, the promotion of Vaughn as being even adequate in the OF is a stretch. Every catch he makes of a pop up is not a great play. He is probably the slowest player on the team and cannot get to balls that most other ML OFers do. After Eloy injured himself reaching over the wall for a home run, Vaughn is a perceived as an exceptional outfielder because he doesn't even try to make those plays. In the process, he avoids errors and injury. Playing it safe is fine, except when a play has to be made...like the ball Vaughn couldn't get to that probably cost Rodon a no-hitter or the umpteen short fly balls that drop in front of Vaughn for base hits. He lacks range in the OF and, like Eloy and Sheets, should never be out there in an important game situation where defense is critical. If Vaughn, Abreu, Sheets, and Eloy are destined for DH/1B, some decisions will need to be made as Cespedes,Colas, and other outfielders are added.

  37. even if you hate him you have to say hes a HOF, a well known HR call, lots of catch phrases, everyone knew of him and had an opinion for decades. Thats HOF worthy in and of itself.

  38. It sucks just how winnable this game was. If we make 1 defensive play in the 4th and Yoan touches home plate, it's probably a tie game at this point at worst.

  39. yep would have to be something else involved, but all their relievers STINK. By the way, saw a rumor that Mets are interested in the main Pirates trade chips.

  40. Wrong call since the ump signaled safe and they didn't challenge within 20 seconds, but Moncada is always fucking something up.

  41. I am sure it is more of a - ease back into it type of thing. He played 2 - give him a day off - back out again today. Marathon not a sprint.
