What the hell? Dominating performance by Rodon. Yoan with a huge double. Hernandez proving he was an awesome acquisition. Abreu continuing to own Wrigley. How about a winning thread.7 points

I was there. What an awesome game. Thinking back to so many crosstown series over the year, I feel fortunate to be in a position to watch this team dominate. I don’t know if that win was sufficiently narrative-furthering to satisfy the connoisseurs, but a day spent high fiving Sox fans at Wrigley Field is always a top day in my book.3 points

I don’t think people realize how much he helps the entire offense with his ability to take pitches. Abreu won an MVP with Grandal hitting in front of him. And he can hit righties. I think he’s worth every penny we paid him and can’t wait to have him back.3 points

One post before this, you suggested saving Liam. Who’s TLR supposed to pitch if not Tepera?3 points

As an avid anti Grandal fan and I still think the contract is a huge cripple to this team (since he’s always injured). Please come back soon I can’t stand watching Collins or Zavala consistently.3 points

Engel just hits well at Wrigley for whatever reason. I'd rather have him out there than Leury but they probably don't want to play him 3 days in a row. Vaughn should be playing instead of Eloy. Eloy also shouldn't be hitting 4th until he finds some consistency and timing at the plate.3 points

Yasmani has been very sorely missed. Dude makes an enormous difference on this team.2 points

Sox are back to within 1.5 games of the #1 seed in the AL. Keep winning series and that upcoming series in Tampa will carry a lot of importance.2 points

I wasn't bashing the fan base. Read the room, moron. I also thought he would be the manager. My point was his fall from grace was significant2 points

I watched a little early on. Rodon is special, folks. Hope he keeps it up. He is a damn fine pitcher. Sox are stepping up. Cubs got their attention after Sox had the stretch of playing all those lousy Central teams and Sox are focused for this series, baby. Tony is our best manager in a long, long time, yes even better than my idol, Ozzie. It's nice to have a veteran manager Hall of Famer who knows how to expertly run a game. I wouldn't be surprised if Tony figures a way to sweep these Cubbies in Wrigley. Do it Tony. Pick the right pieces to play Sunday.2 points

Crappy opponent or not it’s nice to see a semblance of what this team is supposed to be. Great start from Los, dominant bullpen and Jose and Yoan bringing the bats. Good stuff.2 points

At some point (playoffs), our bullpen is going to need to get some high stress outs. They can’t expect a “clean” inning every time. TLR needs to know who he can trust with runners on.2 points

Everything in my mind always boils down to the Randy Quaid character in Major League. I mean I hate to be a d--k but what about today's game made it so non-enjoyable for a Sox fan? Sox blew the lead on a clutch 3-run wind aided Cub home run. It only tied the game. When Stoney reminded the Sox had the top of the order coming up, I thought, 'This will be a nice win, winning even after blowing the late lead.' Cub fans took off after Sox exploded in the 10th. That was awesome to see as a Sox fan. Cub fans gave up. Also Goodwin's blast was special. Yes it was annoying again when Cubs cut it to two in the bottom of the inning. But in my mind, if you can't enjoy that win, you might need to consider professional help. Cause it's still a "game" and whenever you play a game, BOTH SIDES are trying to win. For me, realizing how crushing that was to the Cubs and how neat it was to see Goodwin all smiles again, it was one of the most fun wins of the year. To me, if you hate that win, you just are the Randy Quaid character in Major League and you are only gonna be able to enjoy this ride when it's all over. Last pitch of the clinching World Series win. SOX WIN THE PENNANT! Sorry if I have a bad post here, I just truly can't understand the sentiment of anybody who is a Sox fan not enjoying that game. The Cub homer only tied it, folks. Sox still were in good shape entering the 10th.2 points

Yep. I hate to have a sure handed guy out there. Much rather have a guy like Goodwin or Eloy out there so they can more quickly get to the ball that they will ultimately misjudge.2 points

Appreciate bmags, bamadoc, et al for keeping us all updated on the young guys on the farm. I always enjoy checking in on these posts2 points

Sox starters are third in IP Only behind Oakland and Houston and some guys look like they are getting tired. Imo there needs to be some kind of intervention like a fake DL stint or at least a skipped start. I don't care if the Sox have a 2 win 10 game stretch but give giolito, rodon and Lynn some time off.1 point

The number 1 predictor for injuries is previous injuries. Rodon has had surgeries the both his shoulder and elbow. He has already pitched far more innings than the last 2 years combined.. He also has Boras for an agent.1 point
-
I agree but if he can make it through the season and extra rest and pitch well in the playoffs that's a great thing for him since he's pitched so few innings the last 2 years. Maybe he will actually want to resign with the Sox for all the things Katz worked with him on and the way the Sox have handled him. After all Boras works for him not the other way around. He could tell Boras get the best deal from the Sox you can if it isn't drastically different from the best offer.1 point

This is a very disturbing report. One of the disturbing things is that supposedly the other coaches laughed about it instead of stopping it and beating the living shit out of the pervert. The players should have stepped in also if they witnessed it. They are all sacks of shit for not doing anything.1 point

No they don’t, and Engel / Vaughn are solid defensively. Engel and Vaughn should only sit at this point for load management. Garcia should only play infield at this point with everyone back but Luis, rest Anderson and Moncada who clearly need rest. Tony will still play Leury in OF with Robert back, he is Tony’s RLRLRLRL missing puzzle piece. 2021 OPS vs. RHP Engel .959 Vaughn .664 (much higher of late) Garcia .6351 point

That’s really interesting. We basically got 1.2 years of Kimbrel, 1.2 years of Hernandez, 1.0 years of Mazara, plus whatever Stiever gives us out of the first six rounds. Not sure how to think of it when viewed through that lens, but at least there are some other guys like you mentioned where hope remains.1 point
