  1. I'm not going to lie - as a fan - I really needed this win. I know they have a few more losses coming before things get easier and I couldn't handle another pounding against a quality foe. So this was nice.

  3. They're streaming on MLB.com and I believe mlb.tv as well. Here's a link to tonight's game https://www.mlb.com/tv/shows/mlbtv-featured-svod-video-list/1-19-gigantes-vs-estrellas-lidom-4089

  4. I have complete faith that the Bears will screw this up.

  5. As Whataboutisms go, We did it before, so why not keep doing it the same way is a pretty awful one. There is nothing wrong with learning from what you know today and adjusting your thinking to match. As for Curt, I always kind of felt his peak didn't last long enough, or wasn't great enough to overcome the rest of his career. He didn't hit any of the big key numbers. He never won a Cy Young. Close, but not quite for me.

  6. Jake Burger sounds like one hell of a human being. I hope they keep him.

  7. And politics has nothing to do with sporting achievement which is what the HoF should be about. There are plenty of unpleasant characters who were great players in the HoF.

  8. I think people are just wondering if this is like getting excited about Enoy Jimenez signing or if he is well thought of.

  9. Wow my confidence in this search just cratered with the announcement they are scheduling next round HC interviews before GM. Same shit different year.

  10. Especially if Schilling doesn't. Schilling is an ass and I hate almost everything he says politically, but his politics didn't give him an unfair advantage on the field.

  11. Considering it was fairly well reported that Crochet was available in the Kimbrel deal (Cubs chose Madrigal instead), I think he’s very much available for the right return. I am with you on Vaughn - hope the Sox are too!

  12. Sheets is useful to have around because we need lefty bats, but we don't need another DH and he sucks at 1B and in the OF. I'd keep him in AAA for insurance because he will certainly be needed at at tines. If we can get something more useful than that - I would have no issue whatsoever trading Sheets while he has some semblance of value - but I have a hard time seeing that come to fruition.

  14. The trouble with trading Burger is that the Sox won't get much for him. He doesn't have prospect pedigree, nor a meaningful minor league career. His AAA numbers last year were unremarkable. Sheets showed some ability last year, but it is the old small sample size, and he lacks prospect pedigree. That said, he is a lefty bat and absolutely mauled RH pitching. And the other thing is that his 2021 didn't come out of the blue... reports out of the ATF in 2020 said he had turned a corner. I'd say he's at least 50/50 to have a better year than Conforto (he has has better odds of being totally awful). Absolutely no one should have more information than the Sox on whether these guys could be the "real deal." Don't see a compelling reason to trade either of these guys. The one with the most trade value is Vaughn. But, he probably also has the most potential and most likely to be a major league regular. I think he's going to really hit. Abreu's going to be gone in a year, and we'll need the depth. The bigger issue to me is pitching.

  17. Everyone is tradeable for the right price...but, Sheets is someone I want to keep if at all possible.

  18. While I get the desire for more pitching, one big problem with this setup is that it leaves the White Sox very right handed, unless Sheets hits like 45 home runs and becomes an everyday player. Vulnerable to righty starters and especially to bullpen righties. Another big issue is probably defense. Especially if Robert has any loss of speed from his injury, that’s a very weak OF. Burger might be tolerable at 2b, but it seems hard to expect plus defense from him there. Anderson is generally ok on defense but not great, Abreu is ok but slow, Moncada is quite good, and Grandal is wearing down over time. That’s a lot of middling at best defenders and some really weak ones. The right answer should be “we saved tons of money in ‘17-‘19 and are selling a lot more tickets so it’s time to actually pay for a roster that can win by filling several positions” but…

  19. From what little I saw last year, right-handed or not, I want the Burger bat in the Sox line up. I think 2nd base is possibly a great way to make that happen. I can’t believe 2nd base is that much more difficult than 3rd base. Get that bat in the line up. I’m sure when Moncada was moved to 3rd, people were complaining about how that was a cheap fill-in that would never work. Turn out pretty well. Another thing, I am confident that the Sox can get to the World Series with some sort of Sheets/ Vaughn/ Engel hybrid in RF. That’s not where I think money should be spent. Pitching, especially starting pitching, is where the Sox need to spend FA money. I have no confidence in Keuchel, and little confidence in Kopech.

  20. MLB should be proud of guys like Buerhle. I'd rather hold him up as an example of what is right in the game than some of the guys that embarrassed the game.
