  1. I've been an ignorant fool for a long time. These are JR's White Sox. He gets to add Chicago to the game because he has a lease with a stadium he doesn't own in Chicago. They could just as easily be the Nashville White Sox, San Antonio White Sox, or any other city JR wishes to move HIS team. I'm a baseball fan. I've played in over 200 games, attended another 500 or so ( t ball to MLB) and watched too many to count on TV or listened on the radio. I follow two teams in particular. My high school and JR's White Sox. But I've stopped being a fanatic. Being a White Sox fan is like being a fan of a local McDonalds. They are just one of a franchise with a local owner. There are plenty of others that are basically the same. If the customer service at a particular McDs declines because they hired their idiot buddy to manage the store, you don't stop eating at McDs, you just move to a different owner's franchise. If half the staff is out sick and the experience at that store is horrible, you stop at a different one. So JR, I'm sorry but I don't like your franchise much these days. I think you are destroying your location and starting to remind me of Ozzie when he wanted to move to Florida. Perhaps you want to be so disliked by fans the entire city with throw you out and you can move YOUR team to a nice place. Go. I'm past defending, I'm past blaming injuries, I'm way past defending Tony, and I'm well past blaming Tony. I'm finally looking at this as a consumer. Much like you seem to look at this like a personal hobby business for your friends and cronies. I came to Chicago for a visit and for the first time in 50 years avoided attending any games. Instead I played a little golf, visited some friends that I wouldn't have had time for, and enjoyed my stay just fine. Thank you for giving me that gift of time you miserable son of a b****.

  2. An organization so completely devoid of confidence in their ability to keep players healthy...that they are actually telling their players not to hustle to first base... How can a training staff be this inept? How can a training staff be completely incapable of conditioning their players to be able to sprint 90 feet without fucking hurting themselves? What the fuck are we doing here? Short-handed Chicago White Sox, understanding that 'their legs are important,' tell some players to slow it down running to first base (espn.com) I am without words. Burn this organization to the ground.

  3. The guy does nothing but post videos of him working out in the off-season, look at the man he is super cut. I don't think a one day music video shoot ruined his conditioning. Now maybe he should start working on flexibility over building muscle but the idea that this one music video somehow made him injury prone is laughable

  4. Unwilling to part with: Cease, Kopech, Bummer, Vaughn, Robert, Anderson Only willing to part with for a very hefty price: Giolito, Lynn, Hendriks, Graveman, Lopez Willing to drive to the airport: Vaelsquez, Cueto, Foster, Crochet, Lambert, Ruiz, McGuire, Zavala, Jimenez, Harrison, Engel, Pollock Would say I'd drive to the airport but would drop off in Englewood at 2am: Garcia

  5. I am deeply truly sorry your precious volatile fragile feelings are so distraught at the mere suggestion that the team should remove a dreadfully underperforming manager. Perhaps tis not myself that needs to do the growing up.

  6. I am currently looking over our offense and where we rank under Menechino's glorious guidance: 1) Worst team in the league against fastballs (wFA) 2) 27/30 against the slider (wSL) This is a recipe for disaster 3) 1/30 in opposite field hits 4) 4/30 in O-Swing % (balls swung at out of the zone) 5) 5/30 in GB% This tells me the offense is constantly looking to poke the ball the other way and "not trying to do too much", a Menechino mantra 6) 29/30 in LD% (Line drives) 7) 10/30 in EV (number has decreased over the year) 8.) 25/30 in LA 9) 22/30 in pitches seen 10) 26/30 in HR

  7. Doesnt matter, this is franchise stuck in hell and anything they do will turn into shit as long as JR owns the team.

  9. Truly an outrageous comment. Giolito has certainly done some damage to his value his page 5-6 starts, but salary dump is just a comical take.

  10. This is absolutely not true, by really any standard. He's making 7.5 million this season and next will be his last arb year. On May 25th of this season, he was sporting an ERA of 2.63. He's had a terrible June but given that Giolito is in his age 27 season and has put up 3 consecutive seasons of well-above-average production, expecting a C-level prospect back for Giolito is an insane take on June 27th

  11. I must admit that when I heard and read about this I started mowing my lawn at 80% speed. It's a long summer and I also need to stay healthy. Great advice! Thank you, Chicago White Sox!

  12. Anyone who is trading for him is doing so for what he can give them right now, because he's a free agent in 1.5 years. The only way he's worth anything other than scraps is if he has a really good July. Right now he's almost literally a salary dump.

  13. If nothing happens in the next month, this is a franchise that should listen on anyone that is a short term deal. If someone blows you away, you work on reforming the shape of this team into something more balanced going forward. Unfortunately, the guys who fit that description are mostly hurt and/or awful, so I doubt we see returns that are worth much to the future of this franchise. Typically a guy like Giolito should bring a huge return, but he has been terrible since COVID. Maybe we could get something for the relievers, but even they have been injured and brutal in the top cases.

  14. You should know better than that. I understand that is what you have done, but that's not for me.

  15. Players getting injured running to first base is not normal. Sorry.

  16. Here are the ages of men sitting on the White Sox Board of Directors: Robert Judelson 83 Judd Malkin 85 Allan Muchin 86 Jay Pinsky 73 Lee Stern 95 Burton Ury 95 Front office man Howard Pizer 82 Don't get me wrong. All of these men have had successful careers. But these ages speak for themselves. It is really hard to expect much from this organization with a situation like this. Change and growth just does not happen. And we cannot expect change in the near future.

  17. Running in dirt and hitting obstacles like bases do add some additional issues, but yeah - for a whole team to have such a problem with this that they have a standing order not to run hard covering multiple people is something else. One or two guys getting that instruction because they're in their 30s and dealing with long-term issues is one thing. Everyone getting it? That's something unusual.

  18. While the training staff deserves some blame…let’s not take accountability away from adults getting millions to be athletes. Unless there was some sort of mandatory program forced on the players, I don’t want to hear blame for an athlete not being in the proper shape. Trainers can’t force the players to train, stretch, eat properly, sleep, ect…be accountable for your own body, it’s literally an athletes livelihood

  19. Best outcome out of this one today is that Lucas did indeed make himself a little bit more tradeable.

  20. Reyto got squeezed on some calls. That lead-off walk set up the 8th inning for them. I thought Robert made the same mistake Sheets did. They both altered their stride in anticipation of hitting the wall. Also the shape of the wall in the corner made that play tough.

  21. He's a bad defender at 6 different positions which is impressive in its own way, i guess

  22. GTFOH with this Monday Morning QB bullshit. Sheets takes a shit on another ball in the 7 or 8th inning you'd be the first one bitching up a storm on why wasn't he pulled.

  24. Keep wanting to get a lot more from him. The way he finished 2021, I honestly thought he'd take off playing MVP ball going forward. Let's hope this is not another Yoan post 2019.

  25. Robert with a .733 OPS is a giant disappointment. His approach is garbage and yes, his defense sucks now compared to before his major injury.

  26. Both Cub guys were basically rentals. People want to trust Hahn making trades.

  28. Every team, even the Orioles, seems to have so many more legit major leaguers in the lineup. Every day the Sox have 3-4 minor league caliber players in the lineup.

  29. This is perfectly said We keep hearing about "wait until they all get on the field" but based on history of guys, specifically Jimenez, Robert and Moncada, that just might never happen consistently

  30. I don't trust Rick Hahn or the minor league player development for another rebuild.

  31. JR I suspect has never taken a marketing course. The”customer is always right” mantra is foreign to him. Being buddy to TLR and looking the other way to TLR incompetence, and not listening to the fans is not smart. The fans are the ones putting $ in his pocket, not TLR.

  32. True, it is not shocking that JR doesn't understand working class people. I don't regard him as a sociopath. He lives in a different world, and, even after all these years, he still doesn't get certain things. The Yes people around him only make things worse. My point is that he alienates some of the most loyal Sox fans. And people like Hawk, Ed Farmer, and Steve Stone have been his enablers. His supporters say he loves baseball. Might be true. But from day one, he never had any idea what motivated Sox fans, and that has nothing to to do with money or class. He just doesn't get it.

  37. Great thread idea. I don't know that I know enough to really rank them, but I am very excited that Colson Montgomery has gotten off to the first half that he has had. It really gives the system merit when he is out there just absolutely destroying folks in A ball. Wes Kath has recovered nicely after a .500 OPS to start with in April, to push himself up to .730 on the season. Norge Vera is by far the guy I am most excited about, as he might be the one guy in the system with star starting pitcher stuff. Oscar Colas is out there destroying baseballs in A+ without any red flags in his numbers. You'd like him to walk more, but outside of that, he is looking really good. Christian Mena is also off to a great start in the lower levels, really nice K numbers, walks under control, solid H/9, and improving as the season goes along. Loidel Chappelli has been absolutely destroying DSL, and seems to be a guy who is ready for US ball. I get he is 20, but it is nice to see him doing what he should to inferior competition, as we haven't always saw that. I know Kohl Simas is down with injury, but what a start to the season he had. 12.3 K/9 and a 1.024 WHIP. Tommy Sommer is also putting up huge K numbers at A ball with 82 K's in 65IP. Not many hits against either, but giving up a few walks as an older guy. Darrio Borrero is off to a nice start in the ACL as is Victor Quezada in the search for the next Latin American shooting star. Bryan Ramos had the huge start, huge slump, and now seems to be adjusting back again.

  38. I dont understand how baseball players can be so injury prone in their legs by running. Soccer and basketball players do 0-100 constantly yet they dont have hamstring or "lower half" problems like the Sox do. I just dont get it. Can someone explain this to me?

  39. It's tough when the team is missing most of its lineup. Yesterday the team started only 5 of its projected starters for the year. I'll reserve final judgement when they have at least 7 or 8 of their projected starters available for an extended period of time.

  40. So in retrospect the Sox weren't bad enough during the rebuild and they aren't good enough after the rebuild. Is this what Hahn meant by mired in mediocrity ?
