Ivan Nova open to re-signing with the Sox

This team needs to fill out a rotation. You can't go out and sign 4 number 1's or 2's. Kopech is going to be on a inning limit if he comes back and really other then Gio what do you have?

    Alcides Escobar Released

    Bingo

Aaron Sanchez + to the Astros

Really low price for Sanchez. Would have been interested as a buy low guy. We don't really make these kind of moves and I don't understand why. Sure beats trading for low upside guys like Nova

Trevor Bauer traded to Reds - Puig to Indians

Yeah I need to get some sleep. I misread your post my mistake.
  5. We aren't trading Jesus. Alex sure. Jesus is untouchable

Trevor Bauer traded to Reds - Puig to Indians

He's not an OF though. He's a low OBP, high slugging 1B/DH playing the OF.

Trevor Bauer traded to Reds - Puig to Indians

How? Reyes numbers are super inflated and he is a butcher in the field. Logan Allen isn't anywhere near the prospect of Trammel

Will you be mad if the Sox do not seriously try to move Abreu?

    Yes, Yes, No

    Lol...Stroman to Mets

Are you sure about that Bref has him a free agent AFTER 2020. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/stromma01.shtml Which means he isn't a rental. Not sure where your guys math is coming from

    Lol...Stroman to Mets

They also traded Stroman who had two years of control and is putting up ace like numbers. I think they should have gotten more Anthony Kay is pretty old it's a make or break year for him and he's struggled hard since being promoted to AAA. I like Woods-Richardson but mote as the third guy in a deal. I think Kay and Richardson where fine but they should have gotten a top 100 prospect in addition to that and the fact that the Mets system was trash which resulted in Kay being ranked 4th and Richardson 7th doesn't mean much. The Toronto system which has had a ton of promotions this year in Jansen, Vlad and Biggio still have him ranked a spot higher then the mets. I don't think Kay is much of a prospect he projects as a back end guy at this point. Not an exciting return if I am a blue jay fan. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/marcus-stroman-trade-evaluating-the-prospects-the-blue-jays-will-receive-in-return-and-what-the-deal-means/

    Lol...Stroman to Mets

Neither guy is in mlb.com top 100. Seems like a very weak return. http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2019?list=nym
  12. trade him and see what you can get.

Free Agency - How confident are you?

I said this years group wasn't ready and I didn't want us to waste big money on Harper and Machado. I still believe that. Because we still don't have a good idea of how far away we are my preference would still be to do 1-2 year deals. This club still has major holes in the rotation and certain positions. There will be bounceback guys like Porcello forced to accept 1-2 year deals. That is where our energy needs to be.

    Bryce Harper and Machado?

Harper has a statline of .260/.373/.479/.852 with 2.6 WAR/150 and 13.7 UZR/150 Machado has a statline of .271/.342/.512/.854 with 4.1 WAR/150 and 3.7 UZR/150 for 3B, and -5.8 UZR/150 Note BR ref is harsher then fangraphs on harpers defense which affects his war slightly. The point is has how either performed changed your thought process on the effort spent pursuing them? Or would you have rather explored other options?

    Is Giolito an ace?

It depends on his stuff he's gained almost 2MPH on his fastball from last year and done a much better with location. It's turned what was one of his worst pitches into one of his better ones. if he can maintain his stuff moving forward he has a chance if he regresses back into that 91-92 MPH pitcher from last year not so much.

    Eloy going on IL

He had that incident in the wall in what April? He's looked real awkward out there at times this injury though just makes me angry because it was totally avoidable if he just listened to his CF. Also had Tilson not made the play Eloy didn't put himself in position where he could have backed him up. Anyways what done is done I hope they are still having him do work in the outfield even with the injury. He needs to get much more comfortable out there. ?. I can't find a video anywhere online of it but if someone does and posts a slow motion replay of it you will see Eloy was not going to get to the ball.

    Eloy going on IL

I watched the play again in slo mo. He had zero chance to get to the ball.

Steve Stone with a dose of reality for Sox fans

Past you was wildly optimistic which is why current you is so disappointed. I am not disappointed with the fact the sox decided rebuild but I am disappointed with the moves we didn't make. I looked at the Archer trade and wondered why didn't we move Rodon for that kind of return? I was disappointed we weren't interested in Pham. I was disappointed we spent all our offseason trying to get Machado and Harper instead of signing guys to one year deals instead bringing stiffs like Jay and Alonso. One thing that has kind of been apparent is the lack of a clear direction. We are sort of half in half out. It's cost us some opportunities I think to move guys like Abreu and Rodon who should have been moved if they were more realistic about their timeline it probably also cost us two years of control on Kopech too. In other words they have made a ton of what I think are mistakes they've made a ton of moves I really liked too and I was surprised with the return the thing is even had they done everything I wanted that I was right on (I won't mention the things where I was wrong ) and they got better then expected returns this team was never going to be competitive this year. It was always about 2020 at the earliest.
  19. I don't think he would. He wants a 3-4 yr 30-40 million multi year deal. In any case another reason to move him

    Disco Demolition Review...

    The day disco died.
  21. We will receive a comp pick if he leaves so any team who trades for him has to do so with that in mind. I'd like to move him if we could not just because we could get a guy who could help us in the future but he deserves a shot to play for a contending team.

    Eloy going on IL

Yep there is no way Eloy should have been there. For one he had no play on the ball and two Tilson was already calling for it.
  23. wrathofhahn

To Sell or Not to Sell?

This is the kind of nonsense we heard last year about Fry. If you can get a decent return we should be moving them all.
  24. wrathofhahn

    Eloy going on IL

I watched the play several times Tilson was the only one who had a shot he also is the one who has the priority because he plays CF. This injury is a result of Eloy not doing his job which is to backup Tilson once he calls for the ball.
  25. All jokes should be told.
