  1. I love Madigral as a prospect, but I can't imagine them extending him yet. You don't know hat type of player he will be, nor his eventual worth. The guy they need to extend is Moncada. He recently proclaimed his desire to play here for his whole career. Strike now while he's still feeling all warm and fuzzy.
  2. Agree, though it appears EE is the guy they are going with. So the ship has likely sailed on signing Castellanos.
  3. If it's indeed 160 inning per year, that's easy to block if necessary. I'm not so sure that's the case though.
  4. I see I'm not the only one with trouble sleeping, haha. While I'd love the Sox to sign Nick. I would be absolutely shocked if they did. Everything seems to be pointing to Edwin Encarnacion.
  5. The Sox would have no incentive to do 6 years and 90 mil. But I agree, I suspect if it's an 8 year deal, the dollar amount will likely be higher than $80-90 mil. That's buying 2 free agent years, right? Unless the Sox play the service time game with him, which might not be the best idea. Everyone seems to be watching for that now.
  6. The home run comparison was made to point out how power could surge when leaving Comerica Park and it's deep alleys. If you construed it that I was trying to say that he was a HR hitter of equal stature to JD - then that's on you. I never said or implied that, and the numbers I posted would of laughed off any such argument.
  7. LOL. Ok, when you have to say you're not trying to be a dick, that means you know you're being a dick. With that said... I keep telling you we're not saying he is or will be as good as JD, but you keep skipping right past that. I don't know if there's reading comprehension issues at play here or if you need to conveniently miss that point to make your argument. Nick doesn't have the power of JD. He does hit a shitload of doubles, though. His hitting has improved quite a bit in the last 2 years. Especially last year. He shows the sign of a guy on a serious upward trajectory. Again, Nick isn't as good of a player as JD. That doesn't invalidate the point that he could be a guy that is undersold from playing in the dungeon of Detroit. He could be a late-ish bloomer, much like a guy named JD Martinez. Nick did have the 10th most doubles of all-time last year. That's pretty good. Some of us don't live and die on just home runs. A doubles machine in the Sox lineup would be amazing. He would probably be a great #2 hitter in the lineup. ps - Nick isn't as good as JD.
  8. Alright let's clear one thing up. I don't think anyone is saying he is as good of a hitter as JD. he's not. It was that there's potential similarities of 2 guys that left Detroit, and possibility went on to bigger and better things. Second - your math is off. Castellanos had a lot more at-bats in Detroit than Chicago. Almost twice as many - yet he still hit more HR's than in Detroit. In Detroit he hit one HR every 36.6 at-bats. In Chicago he hit one HR every 13.25 at bats. That's almost trippling his rate in Detroit. And finally - as I said, he doesn't at this point (probably ever) have the power that JD has. But he hits a shit-ton iof doubles, which would be amazing in our lineup.
  9. But that brings up an interesting point. Look at JD's power in 2017, when he spent the first half season in Detroit, then the latter half in Arizona. DET - 16 HR's in 200 AB's ARI - 29 HR's in 232 AB's That goes along with Castellanos' power surge when he left Detroit last year. DET - 11 HR's in 403 AB's CUBS - 16 HR's in 212 AB's
  10. JD is 5 years older than Nick. Compare Nicks's last 2 seasons with JD from 2014 and 2015 and I think there's some similarities. Maybe he will be more of a doubles guy than a HR guy, and frankly if you insert that in to the Sox lineup, that is just fine with me.
  11. Clevinger? Seriously, you worry about Vaughn and how or where he fits a year from now - if he is ready for the show at that point. It's a non issue in 2020.
  12. I feel this way a bit as well. In fact I was thinking exactly of JD Martinez.
  13. Also this says source says White Sox still interested. For all we know, Castellanos could be closing in on a deal with the Reds, and Boras throws this out there to get that last budge on the contract terms.
  14. This definitely intrigues me. I know his defensive numbers improved last year. I'm not sure where that puts him right now, or if there's room to improve still given his relative lack of experience in the outfield. If his market has fallen off and they can get him on a great deal, then awesome. If he's willing to be a primary DH, then even better. I think he's become a more dangerous hitter the last year or two, and hopefully he can continue or I'm prove upon that. I think he would be a huge get for the Sox lineup.
  15. Yeah it makes sense. They potentially have a huge flip on their hands if he is hot and healthy at the right time. And I have no idea what the Angels are doing. All that money tied up in Rendon and Trout, and they aren't trying to get a competent pitching staff for some reason.
  16. Yeah, but that vest is extremely easy to hit. Basically he would need either a major injury or to bust out hard in the first 1.5 years of the deal, to the point where the Sox would rather bury or release him than let that 4th year kick in.
  17. They didn't get a TOR starter like I hoped (Keuchel is not a TOR starter IMO), but otherwise it's been really good step forward for the rebuild this winter. Fine job White Sox front office.
  18. Well he's right about the Bears stinking.
  19. That random DM put him above all the other supposed Sox insiders. Really, Steve Stone is the only insider who's words mean a damn at this point.
  20. If they sign EE, I would think Collins might be moved. Probably for a reliever as some have guessed along the way. There just doesn't seem to be any at-bats for him if EE comes in. Because Grandal, McCann and Abreu are likely to get some DH at bats as well.
  21. Hopefully the Angels panic and offer Ryu stupid money, now that it's down to one potential impact starter left in free agency. Keep him away from the Twinkies. He would scare me with them.
  22. Hopefully not Encarnacion. I'm liking their aggressiveness here.
  23. Arenado wouldn't make any sense if they are alluding to him. If you wanted that, you could of gone for Rendon in free agency, and not given up the couple of big prospects the Rockies would surely demand.
