I just don't know why the Sox would even consider another old fossil. What is the point? Is there a lack of candidates under 60?

It mentions that Goldschmidt and Yadi reached out to him after he was fired. So if there was anything toxic, it didn't have the top players against him. I think he would be a great hire. He got results in St. Louis and kind of got that organization back on track.

I didn't like Benetti for a while. That may have been more me missing Hawk than anything against Jason. But I've grown to accept and even somewhat embrace him I guess. That said, I do prefer Len Kasper. If he ends up replacing Benetti, it will be an upgrade for me. And they can always tell Len that he can do the radio if they somehow turn this around and make the playoffs next year.

I see your point. But regarding Cleveland - I think you're getting caught up in that trap where you assume a young & talented Cleveland team will only improve, or at least remain the same. Where have we heard that before? It wouldn't surprise me if they dropped 10 games in the standings. I think they over-achieved this year. Good for them - but let's see them do it again.

If Ohtani is on the block, it would take something far bigger than Colson I suspect. You may be right about the secondary prospects being the trade chips, but if that's the case, I doubt you're going to get much of any impact. Probably nothing more than a #4 starter, etc.

One thing Hahn made clear is - in the 20 something years he's been here, all major decisions have been made in consensus between him, KW and Jerry. So unless he's lying, KW is every bit as responsible for this debacle as Hahn is. And so is Jerry - which would probably explain why he gives them so much slack when they fail.

I doubt Vaughn gets moved this winter. And the reason is - I dont think he has a ton of value anymore. You may as well give him the reigns at first base and see what he can do. I suspect the arrow is pointing at Colson Montgomery as the likely trade bait if they are trying to bring in any type of talent.

Yikes. Seems our only hope next year is that Colas comes up and is a star right out of the gate. Otherwise, it'll mostly be hoping slumping players find their former selves. But as long as Menechino is gone, there's some hope.

You're right. But now we've watched a season where all too often the guys didn't appear to be playing hard. Other teams took advantage of this all season long. A new manager will help, but there's does need to be some roster changes as well IMO.

There's nothing confusing. He's the same potential risk vs. reward for the White Sox as he would be for every other team in baseball. I'm fine bringing him back - but they better not depend on him as anything more than a #5.

You're not making any sense. He's a great bet for the White sox but a terrible one for everyone else. And you can go ahead and lose the attitude.

I really don't know what they're going to do. It's a weird case where it feels necessary, but at the same time, just about all of them would be a 'sell low' situation, where you likely end up losing the trade badly. I would feel more confident in this process if Hahn was let go and a new GM had the reigns over moving core guys. Hahn almost never wins trades of major leaguers for major leaguers.

I can't see Lynn being traded, short of them ripping this apart and doing another rebuild, and I can't image that. He righted the ship for the most part and is likely to be the Sox #2 starter next year.

I agree with most of what you say. I think the wild card question, is how many of the moves in the past 2 seasons were forced on Hahn by TLR? Tony has been well know for loving loaded bullpens. Although they failed badly, they spent tons of money on the pen trying to load it up, and they did it at the expense of filling legit holes on this team like RF, 2B and SP depth. With left handed power being a huge need among the needs on the team. And let's not forget this spring when TLR called out Sox fans who wanted a right fielder from outside the organization - saying they must not be real White Sox fans if they think RF can't be filled from within the organization. How did that turn out? I'm not saying I want Hahn back, as I've been clear I think a 100% turnover in the front office and coaching staff should happen. But if Hahn's hands have been tied by not only Reinsdorf's risk averse approach and refusal to sign top tier free agent talent, but also TLR's mandated moves these past 2 seasons - I could see where JR would give him a mulligan.

If it's such a no brainer to bet on Giolito, then why don't you think you would get a lot for him? It's not like the Sox are smarter than other teams. Quite the opposite has proven true in recent years. Again, I am in the 'don't care' category. He was a very big part of why this season sucked. He may bounce back in 2023. Or maybe he won't. But what is he expecting to get, around 10 mil? Maybe they'll feel that's worth the risk. Or maybe someone like Quintana might prove to be a safer bet in their minds, for around the same dollars?

Another thing is - rebuilds the way the Sox did have more limitations than previously. Big market teams cant pick in the top 6 in consecutive years. That was Madrigal and Vaughn. Granted, neither of them has given the Sox a whole lot, and Madrigal is already gone.

Injury prone players getting injured is not insane bad luck. It's an expected outcome. If you're going to build a team based on a core of fragile players that can't stay on the field, then you at least better build up insane depth. Unfortunately the Sox depth is among the worst in baseball.

It wouldn't shock me if Katz is gone, if for no other reason than a 100% culture change. This team seriously needs a heart transplant, and the easiest place to start is a 100% turnover in the coaching staff. Katz did some good things, but there were also some disappointments in the staff. I'm fine whichever way that goes. And for Giolito - seriously, who cares if he is traded? He is a bottom of rotation guy now.

I wish Tony good health and a nice retirement. And I like the thought of not only a managerial change, but it not being Cairo.
