If the season is lost, how will it affect players?

Long time reader, don't post on here all that often. Lot of conjecture going on here right now! Which is cool, because this is a message board, where opinions can be thrown about without recourse. That said, I wish some of you would go back to talking about how tomorrow's weather 'would' have impacted the game. How inconsiderate the Sox are for not cancelling before people take the day off work, or how big of a dick move it would have been to allow 33,000+ people inside the stadium in to sell beer, etc. just to make money before cancelling it, which they could have done at 9:00am. Maybe, some of you can talk about how bad we look after low-balling Manny Machado. At least some of those topics, we all have minor knowledge on. TURN OFF CNN FOLKS! This isn't political at all! TURN IT ALL OFF! If some of you really don't think there will be a 2020-2021 basketball or hockey season, or a 2021 baseball season with fans, etc. you are doing exactly what the media wants you to do! Panic! This specific virus will never go away permanently. Just as H1N1 is still around, AIDS is still around, etc. The thousands of brilliant scientists in the world will come up with something to help with this. I'm worried that with the relentless negativity, along with the isolation we are experiencing, some of you might not be around to enjoy the 2022 World Series Championship (played in Chicago, with fans). Relax, wash your hands and watch Tiger King!

Sox and Sawks to see if the Price is Right

Totally agree with you! One of the dumber trade possibilities I've read lately. But, since we are talking about the White Sox FO ... what if this was actually true??

    Successful Plan B; What’s Next?

I too feel like today is Dallas Kuechel day.

    Tsutsugo - UPDATE: To Rays

I mean, at this point, you just have to assume the Sox were a "bigger" offer right?

    Successful Plan B; What’s Next?

This is pretty much spot on! Guys, you've all said it ... It comes down to money. Jerry won't spend it. End of story. We will not work with Scott Boras because we know he will squeeze every penny out of us. Jerry doesn't like that. The Mazara move is another example. I don't "hate" the trade, but it is another move that was made, simply to say we "made a move". As opposed to simply going out and paying for one of the two players (Ozuna/Castellanos) who are established MLB professional players (I don't give a sh*t about the defensive metrics, that can be debated another time because all the options were bad), we chose to give away prospect capital for a player we hope breaks out with a change of scenery. In reality, it's because 5.7 million this season, is less than 14-16 million. It's the same with the Bulls. There is a reason we end up with the Carlos Boozer's and Pau Gasol's of the world and not the Dewayne Wade's, Carmelo Anthony's, etc. If I had to guess ... "Plan B" will be Ivan Nova and Brett Anderson. That way the money that "will be spent" will still be around for one more year closer to sale/death for Jerry.

    Angels sign Rendon - 7yrs 245

Yes, very difficult to not have this opinion. The Angels have an owner who “loves” Anthony Rendon, so he will spend whatever necessary to attain that player. Our guy simply loves money, so he will do whatever necessary to save it all.

    Nomar Mazara Speculation

It’s rumors like this that really make me think ... “you know, I could really be a GM of a baseball team.” Can anyone confirm, was Osuna’s flight delayed an entire day???

Encouraging start to the second half by ReyLo. I guess that has made today tolerable.

This whole weekend has been very tough to watch! Wow!

    Collins getting called up

Hoping one of these prospects come up and go bananas right away. From a power standpoint, Collins could be that guy! Sucks seeing guys like Soto, Acuna, Torres, Riley, etc. come up and rake right away while our guys need to “develop more at the big league level”.

    The 2020 Rotation - What’s Your Plan?

Sink large money into starting pitching. The offense will be fine with continued development and a piece here or there (Castelleanos, Puig, etc.) 1. Cole 2. Giolito 3. Hamels 4. Kopech 5. Cease
  12. Is there any chance the Yankees would want Colome? You can never have enough bullpen arms in the postseason. Clearly a logjam in the OF for them. Any chance we could swing for Clint Frazier?
  13. I need only one at-bat from each Rondon and Sanchez to again question why either of them is blocking Danny Mendick from even getting a chance.

Wait, they didn't send you a home plate shaped seat cushion? I got mine! I felt appreciated!

White Sox @ Astros: a game thread

No accountability in the entire organization. Yet we all still watch all the games, pay money for tickets, and spend time away from family to talk about it. Who are the real idiots here? (Yes, thumb firmly pointed at myself)

White Sox @ Astros: a game thread

Yet again ... Jose Ruiz sent down after tonight's game. The only people in the entire organization who are held accountable are the young relief pitchers. Not the GM, not the manager, not the hitting/pitching coach, not the drug-using catcher, not the brother in law, not the gatorade boy, just the relief pitchers (and Ervin Santana).

White Sox @ Astros: a game thread

I am not even sure my comment was intended to directly imply it is on Eloy as much as it is on Todd Stiverson, Rick Renteria, etc. What is being done from a coaching perspective to help further develop the player? Other teams seem to be just fine at helping their young prospects reach a high level immediately, or at the very least ensure their rough patches are minimal. Why does it seem that every White Sox prospect needs 2+ years to "go thru the learning curve"?

White Sox @ Astros: a game thread

Some of the swings these guys have taken tonight, make it look like this is end of September and they just want to get the season over with and go home. Non-competitive. I don't care about how big the sample size is for guys like Eloy. When you can't see any noticeable adjustments over the course of 20+ games, that is a cause for concern.

White Sox @ Astros: a game thread

Yikes ... Moncada & Eloy Our record when this road trip over will be the least of our concerns.

White Sox @ Astros: a game thread

This was talked about earlier today, but at this point, there is no reason to not start to break it up and see what else is out there. I'm not sure why Mendick is not given a chance at this point. What is the point of keeping him down in AAA any longer? If he can't cut it, there is nothing hurt by playing him for the rest of the season. If he can, he is still 25 years old, maybe a late bloomer. Palka and Collins both should be here as opposed to Castillo and Alonso. It drives me nuts that the only people held accountable, in the entire organization (on-field and front office) are the young relief pitchers (and Ervin Santana).

Idiotic pretty much defines just about every on-field decision that has been made for a while now.

White Sox @ Astros: a game thread

This will turn into a 9-0 loss. Ugly! Hey, tomorrow is a new day (just with Castillo and Alonso back in the lineup)!

White Sox @ Astros: a game thread

People on here yesterday thought the people saying 2 wins on this road trip were being to "negative". LOL. This is the have's vs. the have not's!

    Time for some changes, Rick

Yeah, possibly have to add in a lower level prospect to make it happen, but again, they do not use Almora near enough to say he would be off limits for maybe the only piece they are missing this season. I agree that Robert is the future, but would their be anything wrong with having 2 "CF's" playing somewhere in the outfield? Considering our OF defense at the moment, I'd be good with both of those guys covering ground out there.

    Time for some changes, Rick

I mentioned this to a few people this morning... Trade Colome for Almora Jr. & Ian Happ Almora can play CF for us for the next at least 3 seasons, moving Robert to a corner. Happ can play 2B until Madrigal is ready, then can bump to a corner OF moving Eloy to DH. The Cubs aren't using either of them enough anyway, so I don't know what their logic would be in balking at it.
