  1. Ofcourse they aren't going to fold immediately. NYY is clearly worried and will wait till the very last second before opening day before caving. And I don't believe he hasn't had an MRI yet until now. I believe there must be an MRI already showing a tear because they are already talking about second opinions and they are trying to stretch it out to buy time to figure out what to do. Wait them out. It's only another couple weeks we've been waiting for months already. Ofcourse it would help to know what their enhanced offer is too. @Pal
  2. Yeah but that's the scenario at issue. He knows he doesn't have forever because JR could go at any time, so he does need immediate or close to immediate returns on his trades so he can burnish his rep for the next owner or if they are gonna clean house either way, then he needs some positive results to get another job. I just don't see him taking a main piece that won't see the league for like 3 years. Secondary pieces that are high upside but far away (Lalane)...sure...main ones no.
  3. I think part of the equation is that Getz kind of needs the payoff to be semi-immediate (24 or 25) otherwise he risks getting assets for his successor. If Arias ETA is like 27, it doesnt really help him with job security, esp if there's a new owner before then. He needs the optics of a shiny new mega savage hitting bombs out of GRF for his resume. These are ofcourse supposed to be illegitimate considerations in the abstract, but we all know they are present in the political calculus and will make it harder for the FO to accept an Arias/Hampton package.
  4. IMO if the Sox have targeted Jones and believe he will provide legit LH savagery plus a good glove in the OF, we shouldn't settle. NYY is in no position to dictate terms if they are already seeking "second opinions". Get the savage we want
  5. Maybe but alot of data suggests regression is coming for Snell and Cashman needs to actually win thus year, not just placate the fanbase with a signing in ST. If he adds a huge bill that Steinbrenner has to pay AND the signing sucks then he's done. He's better off biting the bullet and making the trade.
  6. I hate to say it as i have nothing but the upmost respect for Gerrit Cole but.... ....WE FUCKIN!
  7. He'll look even more fantastic wearing the other pinstripes!
  8. Awesome. Hopefully they will actually get serious now that Rodon looks like s%*# again
  9. Sucks for him. I feel bad for Lucas he's a very good dude. Now Boras has BOS over a barrel on Montgomery.
  10. Yeah but if he sticks at SS and can hit for AVG and get OBP, it's sort of fine, as Jimmy has mentioned.
  11. The devil hasn't made good on the bargain tho. We didn't ask for left handed hitters, we asked for left handed hitters that are actual savages and that hasn't happened yet. I guess we can get our souls back.
  12. Bro....I don't care about the record. Pedro said the vibe is different this year, he can feel it. I think we're good.
  13. Yeah he looked awkward there for sure. IMO, Law and Jimmy both think Gonzalez looks fine at SS, so maybe if the latter has a bounceback season, it could ultimately be 3B Montgomery, SS Gonzalez, 2B Ramos. Still need a couple savages for the OF.
  14. Yeah that's the one thing about him...he has had very high BABIPs every single year. Theoretically, if it was only luck, then it wouldn't have happened like 4 years in a row, so maybe he knows how to find holes.
  15. I'm really hoping they are just moving guys Bannister really really doesn't like and has advised the FO that he can't fix because between this and Mena, they are playing a very dangerous game, especially for a team that purportedly values cost controlled young pitching above all else. And why would we trade for a reliever (that we used to have) when we aren't going to be competing for awhile? You couldn't get anything else for him?
  16. If Bush can be a groundball lefty no. 4 type that would be very helpful at GRF and in a rotation of RHP.
  17. Boras got owned. Now get his pitchers signed so we can move Cease
  18. We need one of NYY SPers to get hurt in ST to force the issue or for Rodon to look like s%*# again.
  19. Fangraphs also noted that Gonzalez put in alot of work in the fall as did Jimmy. Hopefully he has a good showing this year in the minors.
  20. Good luck to Liam! I will always cheer for him when he isnt pitching against us.
  21. Hopefully his wrist is 100%. If he can get to 15 HRs along with maintaining a good AVG and OBP, we might be able to unload his contract (or most of it) at the deadline.
  22. Jimmy, anything new on the Cease front? You implied the other day things were heating up with BAL again.
