  1. Engel has looked good this year but it is a huge leap of faith to pencil him in as a starter for future seasons. Playing a full season we would likely see him regress back to his former self with the bat.
  2. Bummer is our best bullpen arm not a struggling starter who often struggles with control. However I would agree it would be best to give Bummer a clean inning. However we still had Heuer and Foster, you have to go with your best arms in that situation. 3 games in a row in crucial situations we have used our worst bullpen options and lost the game.
  3. Didn't we have like a 97% chance of winning the division a week ago or was that just making it to the playoffs?
  4. If he is an elite reliever like Chapman, Miller, and Kimbrel in their prime then it would still be worth it.
  5. Lack of protection isn't the issue when he is not hitting the numerous meatballs we've seen him get during this slump. He is not squaring anything up.
  6. Grandal should be 5th and Abreu and Eloy 3rd-4th
  7. You may not like the rule but it isn't giving any team an unfair advantage when both teams get runners on 2nd in extras.
  8. Tigers have taken the lead 3-2 against the Twins, top of the 8th.
  9. Giving him one more batter is still preferable than going to Ruiz.
  10. Allowing Foster(one of our best arms) pitch to Ramirez would have been the best option. How can they rationalize putting a pitcher like Ruiz in one of the most important spots of the year for us?
  11. That is not very good chess playing because by tanking we ending up getting the Yankees first round.
  12. All of the talent we got back in prospects that are contributing come from the Sale, Q, and Eaton trades.
  13. I am not even sure what your first sentence is about. My point is that I don't believe the White Sox current success is due to any unique talent of Hahn as a GM. If he was a great GM he would have been able to do it without blowing it up. It is not normal for a team with the talent the White Sox had in 2016 on long term contracts to blow it up. That made Hahns job much easier than other teams who rebuild. Most bad teams are in some way rebuilding. GMs of mediocre teams similar to the White Sox in 2016 don't blow it up because they would rather try to make moves to compete now rather than dwell in the bottom for 3-5 years.
  14. The real talent would come from being able to build a winning team without blowing the team up. Great GMs do it all the time. It doesn't take a genius to be able to blow up a team and build a winner especially not a team like the White Sox in 2016. Often teams are complete trash when they decide to blow it up but the White Sox were not which allowed them to trade stars with long term contracts and get a bunch of high quality prospects. I would give Hahn far more credit if he were to have built a winner without blowing it up. Any GM could have traded Sale, Quintana, and Eaton and got a lot of talent back.
  15. You obviously don't understand the issue. With another catcher on the bench we can play can both McCann and Grandal at catcher and DH in the same game. Without another catcher we can't do that. That is why we saw them playing in the same game more earlier in the year. Now we only see it on the rare occasion when Abreu DHs and Grandal plays first.
  16. I would like to play the Yankees in a later longer series because it's more fun to play the Yankees in such a series and we get more national attention for the Sox.
  17. We already have fast guys who can pinch run. Dyson may be a bit faster than those guys but that is not worth taking up an entire roster spot.
  18. Jarrod Dyson is a wasted roster spot. We should have Yermin or Collins up so we could play Grandal and McCann more. Management is putting us is a worse spot to compete in the playoffs by not recognizing this. Our playoff lineup would be much better with Grandal and McCann playing every game.
  19. You obviously haven't been paying attention to what they have been doing lately.
  20. I do think the season is too long and should preferably start mid April to early-mid September but that would effect single season records.
  21. Local baseball ratings are much better for MLB than NBA.
  22. Cease had a 13.4 K/9 rate in AA. It has decreased every year since then, most dramatically this year. He must have picked up some bad mechanic changes as he has developed because the decrease in his abilities to miss bats cannot be explained just by tougher competition.
