  1. A friend was at the game today. He wants to know if he’ll get a rain check.
  2. The radio guys are hot about missing the cutoff men. 2 plays in a row.
  3. If they DFA Alonzo I know they’re on the hook for this year’s salary, but what about next year’s vesting option in case he gets picked up and reaches 550 PA?
  4. This is why we need Witt. Tim is hitting well enough to play outfield now.
  5. In the Quintana trade I would have preferred Kelly Crull instead of Flete.
  6. I’ve often wondered, do any of the posters here think anyone in the Sox FO scans these pages occasionally? Lots of good stuff and commentary on here.
  7. Is John McDonough still with the Blackhawks?? Can he come over and take Kenny’s job, please.
  8. I don’t know if Ed Farmer is going to make through this doubleheader.
  9. Carlos has a career fwar of 6.6. He may get up to 10. Below average for a #3.
  10. Major league record for Ks in 9 innnings by a team is 20.
  11. Vaughn is listed at 6’0”, but that’s a real stretch. I’d like to comp him to the 5’10” Steve Garvey who compiled 2600 hits and 4 Gold Gloves at 1st base. Cub killer too.
  12. I think this is easy enough. Celebration is fine, taunting the other team is not. Umpires discretion.
  13. Or, pick Witt Jr. or Lodolo and FA Grandal.
  14. Catcher Shea Langeliers has been back in action for some 3 weeks now after missing several weeks with a hand injury. In 100 AB he’s batting .285 with 3HR , 2 of them this weekend. His draft stock has slid from Top 10 to back of the 1st round. As we know hand injuries can rob a player of power for some time. Maybe the Sox can overslot him for the 2nd round pick. He was the D1 gold glove catcher last year.
  15. Has JR ever sat down in the stands with the fans? He should be out there handing out $100 bills.
  16. And another thing, I heard some of that “howling” coming from the stands last game. You can hear that a lot in a few parks but not really in Chicago. Probably Rays fans. It’s terribly annoying.
  17. The Rays are a cheap-ass outfit. They’re spending $28M less than the Sox on payroll this year
  18. That’s right. Based on $8M/war. Also doesn’t include substantial goodwill benefit.
  19. Back of the envelope, Eloy will have to accumulate about 28 War over 8 seasons (3.5 per season) to even out on the contract for both parties. Excellent deal for Eloy.
  20. Nelson Cruz has accumulated 32 War on his 10 full seasons or 3.2 per year. David Ortiz 50War in 15 seasons, another 3.2 per year. I’d take either of those careers for Eloy
  21. It’s been my understanding that the White Sox have been wanting to negotiate a long-term deal with Jimenez since last year. $70-80M figure had been tossed around. Certainly fair enough, and would have obviated the service time issue. Turning down generational wealth is nuts. I think Scott Kingery or Johnny Danks would vouch for that. I don’t think TA regrets his deal. Sure, it cost Sale a lot of money, but his arm could have blown out like Danks. There is a greed element with the players and agents too.
