  1. So, I don’t post much. The reason being it was the same thing over and over about losing. As I and some others said, it would take 3 years for the fruits to start to bear. Most didn’t care. It probably felt good to whine to get it off their chests. Fine. I let it pass. 3 years later, the Sox are on the verge of being competitive each and every year. Now that we’re here, Everybody is playing gm. This has always made me laugh. Almost everyone is an expert. Here is Burnes, who only had success in a 59 inning stint becoming the next stud who would require a truckload of great prospects. And most responses are given as fact. In order to get a TOR player, you need to give up lots of prospects. His stuff is clearly SP1 material. As if the experts were never wrong. Their rankings get reshuffled every year. What does that tell you. Just a couple examples recently is meija and lux. Oh, they are so awesome. They are easily centerpieces of potential trades. There are many others but these come to mind because both played in the majors already. One has been traded numerous times. None of them scream out superstar yet. But hey, after 59 in, Corbin is clearly a stud. Ours are not worth anything. If this is how people rate people, I hope the trade doesn’t go through. I have no problem waiting to see if they become potential studs. Most don’t have enough play yet. Give up everyone to get him. I’ve seen too many so called studs blow up into nothing. Our players are clearly at their lowest points so what do we really gain by trading a bunch of them now. Your already saying they are not highly rated by including them in any trade offers for him. That’s how bad teams stay bad by getting rid of prospects before you know what you have. Uh oh, here’s the dreaded tatis jr. traded before we knew what he was. Now these guys before we even know what they are. But hey, burnes is a stud. We know that after 59 innings. I get it, it’s fun playing gm. So go ahead, trade the farm. One that sucks anyway. I like where we are at. I definitely want to add more pieces but this is not one of them. Especially at the cost you guys are talking about. I don’t care about the experts. They are mostly wrong anyway. This decade will be fun. I can’t wait for it to begin
  2. Somehow the quote erased. Sorry
  3. I hope no trade gets done if it involves our top 6-8 prospects. There is no way you can tell me that making the trade would guarantee a championship. All these players are only under control through next year. The prospects we have through the top 6-8 are way more valuable than 1 year. We have too many rookies to go through a tough playoff road to expect a win without lots of ups and downs. If you could guarantee it, I would do it. This is the same like 2 years ago when everyone hated this rebuild even though we just started it. Everything has to take its course. We have at least a 6 year window to win now, thanks to holding the course. That’s with all the prospects we have. No way do I ruin it by making a trade for players that expire next year.
  4. i Don’t get how some people think TA can sustain his numbers based on one year. Even guys like trout have numbers that fluctuate from year to year. It’s like since he did it, he’ll do this all the time. It just doesn’t happen. I get that he’s young and improving etc. but this is the first time he’s done it. Someone who doesn’t walk more than 15 times will be nearly impossible to maintain an above .300 obp. Who are you guys comparing him too. I’m just trying to understand it. Avisail Garcia is the closest comp I can come up with who walks little and had that one great year of .330 .380 with more than double the walks at 30. We can see what happened to him. TA just gets it I guess and will just keeping doing it. I wish he would but realistically, come on
  5. Who we have at his position? He will be needed. It’s crazy to trade him. We should be able to get a couple bullpen a couple pieces from our minor league system soon. We have other players to use if we want to augment this team. Trading Vaughn would just create another hole in the future.
  6. So this is for the experts in WAR. I don’t have any experience in it. Everyone talks about how hard it will be to catch up to the Twins. Can someone tell me if all the moves they made last year actually showed a 23 game improvement. I see predictions of us getting 9 more wins with a net of 5(according to some). We have basically changed half our roster but the improvements are barely double digit. Did the Twins actually make enough moves to improve by 23 games last year? I just find it hard to believe. Most swear by WAR and how we will hardly improve past .500 yet they improved by 23 games. Just wanted confirmation that it really can happen. Making moves that can improve a team by 23 games without signing a superstar. Thanks in advance
  7. SMH. We finally have good prospects and some want to trade them. Not 1 but let’s group 2 or 3 of them together.
  8. Do you guys listen to yourselves? You guys would not want one of the best players in their prime? Same age as Anderson but not a 1 year wonder. Don’t know if he will do it again but Lindor has been consistent. There is something seriously wrong with you guys lol. It would have to be for Anderson, not madrigal or Vaughn. Anderson has value. I don’t believe in the trade but if it happened I don’t know why anyone would not be excited about it.
  9. It is very hard to come on this board. It really is used only for venting. We got Grandal and Nomar. Don’t need anymore. Pitchers, need 1 if can otherwise it doesn’t matter who it is. All this talk about how important it is. We have pitchers, our problem is most will be on limits. If anything, the off-season next year is the most important. Doesn’t matter how bad you guys want it. 4 years is not that long. The players we have NEED to pitch. Have to see how they improve. All this complaining about signing so and so to pitch. I laugh every time I see it. Buckle up. I for 1 am excited to see everyone play. Can’t wait. Hahn, has done as good as possible. No mistakes so far. The window for Gio and Moncada is getting smaller. Nothing you can do about it. If they stay as good as advertised, we’ll be able to adjust. I just want to see what happens when everyone is up and playing plus the additions so far. It’s exciting to be a Sox fan right now
  10. So those that like the Houston front office so much, why do you hate on the White Sox and the way they are doing things?
  11. I love it. We need a thread so all the people who want to b**** can go ahead and do so. I hope they don’t win more than 20 games the rest of the season. Fingers crossed
  12. Spending 225 is ridiculous when your not winning. TBH, when I go to a game, I go because I love the atmosphere at the stadium. Way more than Wrigley, not even close. Outside the stadium is different but that doesn’t affect me. Obviously, winning makes it even better. I go there with the knowledge that within a year or so, this place is going to be even a lot more fun. If they didn’t have a plan or were not doing something about it then I would probably not go to a game and watch at home. In terms of Nova, it’s a waste to trade him for someone that won’t be any good. That’s taking the flip part overboard. There is no gain in doing it. At least in my opinion
  13. This is the first time I will be paying attention to the off-season. I do hope they sign a couple as you can see what’s needed. You can’t sign more than that because you have to see who becomes a part of the core and who doesn’t. If they don’t, I will be like the rest of you and start b****ing. The other years didn’t matter. This is where Hahn starts to earn his money. He did his job the last 3 as its been as successful as can be. I would of liked to have picked higher but it wasn’t in the cards. A lot will be riding on Madrigal and Vaughn as they are the products of losing the last couple years
  14. This is getting old. I don’t CARE how many times they have been below .500 this decade. They decided to fix it 3 years ago. I guess I have to explain it again since some of you don’t understand. How do you think Houston got good. Even Minnesota. Their core players are all over 25. Houston picked at the top of the draft how many years? At least they were smart and drafted at number 1 or 2 a lot of the times. Us, no! They got their core guys and filled in the rest with smart free agent signings. Minnesota just signed a bunch of them for 1 year just now but still have their core players above 25. Berríos got drafted in what, 2009. They didn’t have just 1 bad season and poof, they are winners. Their are growing pains. Once we get Roberts, Madrigal and Vaughn up plus our injured pitchers, then we will know what you need. It’s pointless now. Don’t you get it. It’s only been 3 years. Houston was able to get Bregman and Correa by not worrying about wins in a pointless season. It’s very frustrating. The first year to try and sign anybody would be for this upcoming season. They have seen what is missing in the minors and can now work to plug it in. Complaining about this years lineup is comical.
  15. Just caught up with this thread. Is it true that some of you guys said you wished Hahn was more like Minnesota’s Gm. Really? Do you guys just post stuff randomly? This Minnesota team that has been above .500 only twice this decade with at least 5 of the years at 70 or less wins. The 2 above never getting above 85. Wow! How can anyone take you guys seriously.
  16. I seem to have more time than I thought I would have. It’s given me a chance to post since I’ve been itching to do it for awhile. Abreu is a funny situation. On one hand, he does produce numbers even if his average and OBP keeps going down. Especially noticeable the last couple years. But, He is still on pace for his usual 30 doubles and 30 homers with 100 rbi’s, you can’t deny it. Although his war numbers are on pace for the same 1.7 as last year. What do you do? Some on here say you won’t get anything for him. If that is the case than he has to stay. On the other hand, if you can get a nice prospect for him, you almost have to do it. He will be 33 and I am sure his numbers will keep trending downward. It’s really an easy decision. Vaughn is the only thing we have that could take his position so when he comes up will decide how long we should keep Abreu. He wants to stay here so I’m sure that can be arranged. You can’t keep vaughn from coming up just because you love the player you already have. Especially one who will be 33 the following year. Makes no sense. I hear some want to sign him for 3 years, that is just too long because we will have many players to replace him. Year, possibly 2 is the max you can sign him. Any more would be a waste. Now for fans like Greg, I understand what he’s saying. He wants to reward Abreu for all the great numbers he’s produced in the past. And by doing so, we should win in the process. I think that’s one of the reasons why a city like Chicago has so few championships. We fall in love with our players and keep them too long, getting nothing in return. If you look at some of the winning teams, they get extra picks plus good prospects doing so. It’s how it is nowadays. With Abreu being 33 next year, there should not even be a discussion about trading him. If you get something, you do it. If not, he stays. Plus, it’s not like he wasn’t rewarded already. He never played in the majors before and he signed a huge contract to do so. He definitely got paid for what he’s done since he was here.
  17. Where do you guys get that the Sox won’t pay to keep their players? I have never seen that to be the case. If your basing it on the last 3-4 years than I can’t help you. Who are you guys that this happened too?
  18. I can only see low level prospects going for him and Stiever would definitely not be one of them. He’s shown 0 improvements over the years and teams know exactly what your getting from him. I can’t see how the rangers have any advantage with him on the trade front with all the outfielders they have on the roster. He would seem to be the odd man out. If a team wants to overspend on him, go for it but if it’s the white Sox, I definitely won’t be defending them as vigorously as I have. I guess it will depend on what player goes for him.
  19. I would like to know who you guys would of signed. I understand this has become a now society so looking at the big picture is a waste lol. I forget rebuilds only take a year or 2, my bad. So let’s hear it. I assume next year we will have Giolito, Cease, Kopech, and Lopez going. Rodon may be back for the second half. I assume you guys don’t like them so let’s here who you would of signed this year.
  20. I am always playing catch-up since I can’t get on all the time. Just don’t have the access. Anyway, do you guys think signing big money players is the way to win? All everybody cares about is the BIG signing. It doesn’t matter what the price, you’ll be guaranteed to win. I’ve noticed some saying we’ve only had 2 big signings and it was a long time ago. How’d that work out? Why don’t you show me how that worked for other teams. I can bet that percentage is very low. I’d like to know what big signing helped win a championship. I know there are a few but like I said, the percentage is pretty small. The White Sox didn’t have a big signing when they won. As a matter of fact, I remember having to argue with almost everyone when Lee was traded for Podsednik. God, every talk show, would just complain about how stupid that trade was. It seemed like I was the only one to like it since it fit our team need. We had plenty of Lee’s. Anyway, going off topic, the point being, signing for big money doesn’t guarantee anything unless you were the Yankees and got everyone. The teams that are successful are the ones that make smart signings. We have put ourselves in a great position to sign anybody with no bad contracts being locked in. How great is that and most want to sign just because we are so low. If the right one comes along, sure but right now, how do you know what we need? I hear Grandal, really? For 14 million more he’ll make us that much better. Seems like a lateral move to me but I forget, he has the name recognition. Who cares about anything else. I do think we need a starter and possibly an OF. But until I see how they do next year, am not sure. The first 5-6 spots in our lineup seem to be taken. I don’t want big names. If one falls in our lap then sure. I want what fits our team need. Being this early still, not sure how anyone knows what that will be.
  21. I wanted to come on here with facts to back up my statements. Everyone can find them. There have been changes made, things are happening. We are not just standing still. They are not cheap and they are doing something about the bad past performances. To complain before the results are in is what I am posting about. I don’t know what more you need. It’s not a constant rebuild, it should end after 3 or 4 years. That’s fast. Show me otherwise. I’m done. Just wanted to get that off my chest
  22. It seems like every time I respond on this board, it has a negative tone to it. But with topics like this, I can’t see how It can’t. It’s so funny how most come on here and constantly rip on management being cheap or incompetent. That tells me all I need to know because if you really paid attention to what was going on, you’d see the good things happening. Good things made by management once they finally realized what they were doing wasn’t working and doing something about it. First off, those that keep calling management cheap just have short memories and want to b****. All 1 has to do is look up payroll and you’ll notice that the White Sox have been in the top 5 and 10 of payroll many times. The way you guys talk about them would make everyone believe that they come in last every year lol In terms of incompetent, that’s another story. With only 1 championship, they obviously haven’t been too successful. Not all being their fault with the strike etc. but to call them incompetent the last 3 years just shows that they would rather b**** than do anything else. It’s like I am on repeat. We are only in year 3 of their plan and can see what the potential results of them could be. And yet people complain about how bad they’ve been the last couple years. Duh!!! That’s what it was supposed to have been. What can’t you see about it. If they had stayed on the same path as always than I could see the rational. They didn’t!!! Their payroll is small because if some of our prospects perform like they are supposed to, they will need it, so why all the complaints. In terms of free agents, I know they will come. I already stated before that 7 out of 9 starting spots will be taken and most of our pitching spots. They NEED to play and you guys want to keep signing whoever just because our payroll is so small. Forget that, it just so laughable. I’m glad we didn’t sign Harper. He’s definitely not worth the money he signed for. Machado, we’ll have to see about that but at least they gave it a go. The AAV was in some reports more than what he signed for so to me they tried. Again, our spots are mostly taken so we need to be sure of what we have and then fill in the rest. Now, I’m not saying everything will work out but so far it’s looking like we might be good. Real good. And yet most guys can only complain about how the last 3 years have gone. That I will never understand. I know some do and am thankful there are. It just gets tiresome to hear the same stuff over and over again.
  23. More time that passes, the more I get excited. This year has been about watching our prospects improve and it seems like that is exactly what’s happening. I liked Stiever when he was drafted but never expected him to start out so good. He is exactly the type of prospect we need to reach his potential since pitching is where we’ve had some issues lately. Hope he finishes exactly like he started.
  24. I am confused about the comment from jack about who’s here in 2020 and who’s here in 2026. I don’t understand what Roberts has to do with that. Most will be over 30 of the names mentioned so I’m assuming the window is shortened? We have younger prospects who hopefully will be ready by then. Don’t understand what 2 months will do to help that. There is nothing we can do to make next year any better with pitchers coming back on innings limits plus other prospects needing to adjust also. Help me understand how it does
