  1. Okay, I am more educated now. It's just when someone says "groin," it never sounds good to me. Sick of the injuries.
  2. Lucky it was only 6-3. Guardians had runners on in every inning. Should have had a big inning in the fourth and didn't. Were behind this entire series. Cease had a bad day, and he shouldn't have come out for the sixth. Team doesn't know what a home run looks like. This game was only about three hours when it seemed like four.
  3. I am not at the point of blowing anything up. But if this team disappoints this season, there should be changes in field and office management. LaRussa would have to go and other changes should be made. I just don't know if JR is engaged enough or wants to make any changes. Regardless, it's time for Hahn, KW, and LaRussa to leave. The team needs new leadership and new blood.
  4. You are being logical, but, in reality, there was no reason to start a B team in either game. Just because a team is facing a tough pitcher doesn't mean you throw in the towel. Everything about that doubleheader was odd. LaRussa says weird things at times; he also does weird things at times. This was not a good hire.
  5. Usually, I don't worry about three-game losing streaks. Tampa had lost four in a row before winning that last game. But this Cleveland stuff was weird. First, a losing pitcher throws his team under the bus, then the manager throws his team under the bus. The willingness to lose a game against a close division rival is also weird. I hope we don't see any more of this nonsense.
  6. The 1967 team was amazing. No regular hit over .250 and their leading home run hitter was Pete Ward with 18 and they came close to winning the pennant. The pitching staff of Horlen, Peters, and Tommy John never really got the recognition they deserved. Horlen had an easy motion and had his career year in 1967.
  7. Obviously, this is a very talented team. Two things can hold them back: Lack of depth in starting pitching and serious injuries. It would be nice if the FO can pick up a veteran pitcher at the trade deadline. Otherwise, the team has the potential to do something special.
  8. A great right hander who would have won many more with a good-hitting team. No-hit the Tigers who had the likes of Kaline, Horton and Freehan. Actually was hit by a pitch in that game and had a sore knee throughout. Should have won the Cy Young in '67. Didn't worry about striking anybody out. Induced hitter after hitter into knocking the ball into the ground. Great part of the winning 1960s teams. Just a fine player who knew how to pitch.
  9. Obviously, we can see what Tim Anderson does for this team. The same with Andrew Vaughn.
  10. I think that Andrew Vaughn is one player the Sox shouldn't trade, Make some other deal.
  11. Even with the Leury error, the defense was very good today. And that second hit off Bummer wasn't exactly a smash. The only drawback was that the Sox could have broken this game open and didn't. But Vaughn had another nice hit, and I think he will have a good season. Detroit isn't great, but it looks they will give the Sox some tough games.
  12. But just remember if you think outfield defense is a problem, especially in right, you're not a Sox fan.
  13. Don't worry. Jason said the offense will carry the team for the first two months.
  14. Vaughn was a bright spot. We just have to remember he is still young. But he is going to be a great hitter.
  15. We don't need to overreact, but it is tiring to see multi-run leads blown in the late innings. That hasn't happened for one game. It has happened too many times.
  16. Detroit played some good ball last year. Winning the division this year is going to be harder.
  17. There was no doubt about that home run. What is so special about Hendricks? How many ninth inning HRs does he give up?
  18. I am saying a past record is not always an indicator that a man is the right person for a manager's job at a particular time. He might not be the right man for that particular team. We would assume that a hire would occur when the candidate has some kind of good track record even if he has no major league managerial experience. But some men are good with younger teams, some are better with veteran teams. I think La Russa had been away from the game as a manager for too long.
  19. My point is that his past record is not relevant. Is he the right man for the job now? I don't think so. Yes, it was dumb, when the FO interviewed next to nobody else and didn't properly think this decision through. That's how they hired Ricky and Ventura.
  20. His Hall of Fame credentials mean nothing to me. The reasoning behind and the execution of the hire was just plain dumb. Mabe the Sox will still win with him, but this was dumb strategy.
  21. I can't see that players would want to knock their manager just as the season begins. I don't know what the real truth is, but what is the incentive for a player or anyone to pop off just when a season with high expectations is about to begin?
  22. 90. They will win the division although it will not be the cakewalk so many think it will be. What they will in the post-season is a mystery to me. Depends on what they at the trading deadline.
  23. I think this can be a breakout season for Cease. Kopech is still a question mark. His development was set back plenty by the surgery and the Covid year.
  24. Trading Kimbrel for something of value is good. Whatever Pollock can give the team is a plus and certainly more than Kimbrel could give. Kimbrel was not going to generate a superstar in return. Kimbrel was weird anyway.
