  1. This is an extremely Lance Lynn way to get ejected. Stay true King
  2. You'd think we were back in the cornfields of Iowa with all the strawmen in this thread
  3. I really really don't want to think about where all the blood could possibly be coming from but I can't stop. Fuck.
  4. Generally I agree, but if you draft a reliever in the first round, you better hit on them, otherwise you definitely deserve some criticism.
  5. If the Sox score 3 and only 3 here, that makes it worse right?
  6. What? Why shouldn't he? A team had just erased a 3 run deficit in the top of the ninth on homeruns from two of the biggest star power hitters in the game. That is incredible and insane and any broadcaster should absolutely be excited in that moment, just like he was excited when Tim answered back.
  7. Then there would only be one new team 😏
  8. TA7's walkoff is definitely a strong contender for best regular season home run, but there are levels to this shit, and most major home runs in the playoffs are going to beat even the best regular season homers. On a personal note, I went with Blum's 13th inning homerun. It has always had a special place in my heart for a weird reason - it was the only one I didn't see. I was only 11 in '05, and despite my Dad's best efforts, he eventually lost the argument with my Mom around the 11th and I was sent to bed (it was a school-night).... only to come flying down the stairs when I heard my parents erupt into cheers during that HR. At that point, they would have had to physically pick me up and carry me away from the TV, so I saw the bottom of the 13th, but I've never let them forget that they made me miss that moment. At the same time, missing it has built it up to an even more mythical status in my mind.
  9. The MVP trophy is Kevin Costner. He lives with the winner for a year, wandering aimlessly around their backyard while dropping movie quotes.
  10. Just so we are all aligned: when the panic starts are we counting this as a home game or a road game?
  11. "With Leury Garcia looming" might be the funniest thing I've heard an announcer say all year
  12. "That stands in a bit of contrast to Michael Kopech, who has become a more regular part of the late-inning short reliever mix, after spending much of the first half working multiple innings and spot starting in seven-inning doubleheaders when called upon. “He’s still capable and we still want to find him opportunities to have those multiple innings,” Katz said. “But one thing about where we’re at right now in the season is it’s hard to run him out there for three to four innings, and then we’re a man down in the bullpen for quite a few days, which can really hurt the other guys, especially with the way our bullpen is formatted now.” While general manager Rick Hahn recently reaffirmed that Kopech will be in the rotation next season, Katz believes working through high-leverage situations will serve him well in the future as a starter, even if the challenges of working through lineups multiple times will not be replicated. Also, while no one in a Sox uniform or polo shirt — and certainly not Rodón — is a fan of looking toward the playoffs, there is the reality of a sizable division lead to consider. Kopech’s playoff role will likely be getting high-leverage outs, not spot starting." (Mods lmk if this is too long of an excerpt)
  13. I know its popular to dump on Keuchel (and he certainly deserves it so far tonight) but this is actually really unusual. This season, first time through the order DK has given up a .285 wOBA against, which is 61st in the MLB (fantastic for a 4th/5th starter). The problem is that after that he is giving up a .356 wOBA against (which is 115th, so actually around what you would expect from a 4/5). We'll see how the rest of the season goes, but based on the season so far I would be perfectly happy to let DK go once through the order to start a playoff game.
  14. So cool that ESPN decided to broadcast batting practice! When does the game start?
  15. Pretty sure the law of averages actually implicitly says that doesn't happen at all so
  16. I like Sheets more, but I don't think Lamb is an indefensible choice here at all. Lamb is a veteran who, when healthy, has a longer track record of hitting RHP, and he looked good so far this year. If you choose Lamb, you can play him through August. If Lamb turns into a pumpkin or gets injured again, you can always DFA him then and bring back Sheets. But if you choose Sheets and he hits a rookie wall or gets injured, Lamb is gone. You retain more flexibility by choosing Lamb over Sheets for now, plus it gives Sheets daily at-bats in AAA.
  17. I liked Madrigal and I loved his fit on this team (if he could get the defense ironed out). But I am so so so happy we don't have to argue about his value on here anymore. You know the saying "I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy"? Well that doesn't apply here because I have been laughing all day at excited Cubs fans who have no idea what fresh hell their message boards are about to become.
  18. Madrigal at 44 sure looks silly in hindsight lmao
  19. We cut Tyler Johnson?? But the Blackhawks literally JUST traded for him, what the fuck is Stan bohhhhh wrong message board, nvm
  20. In hindsight, especially looking at the cost of the Marte and Gallo trades, the Padres did amazing here (or the Pirates front office are just idiots.... which is not unlikely). I don't care how much they liked Marcano, based on the other deals happening they should have gotten him plus another real prospect. Another example of a team getting a great price by being the first to market.
  21. Kinda seems like the right thread after all then
  22. Alright, be honest -- who else here was clenched?
  23. The 2008 blackout game is one of the most beloved memories of all recent White Sox fans. Would it have been better if it led to a world series? Sure. But instead it led to a 3-1 series against TB that felt as noncompetitive as any sweep. And you know what? The blackout game is STILL a cherished moment.
