I saw him at the start of 2018, pitch in Indy at AAA. He looked pretty bored on the mound. I think it would be a huge step back, keeping him in the minors more than the control of the 1yr they get back. He needs to be challenged.
I think, they thought, it was the best bat on the board. But the problem was, he is unathletic playing 3B. At best, I think it was a switch to 1B or DH, but did you really need to draft that?
It's not about that. He was suppose to be playing last year, and he never did. I don't think he is healthy, and by the time he is, his progression through the minors, he is gonna be like 26yrs old. He is probably Palka at best, if he gets healthy.
I am not sure why you think Vaughn is an automatic lock to be a star? There is no downside to the Jose extension, the payroll is low enough that if Jose is not good in a year or 2, he can sit the bench.
It is about development, if you are rebuilding. Not holding talent back to save a buck. They did it will Robert too, he was ready at the end of the season to come up. I would argue Madrigal was as well.
It kinda does. Eloy was offered a contract at the end of 2018 season, and he balked, so the Sox kept him down. What would of happened to him this past season, if he would of had 100-200 ABs in 2018?
