  1. The diamondbacks of 5 years ago and the 2020 royals, who wouldn't want to replicate that structure???
  2. Dayton Moore is a weirdo but he's certainly had more success than Hahn. The problem with Getz is Hahn likes him. No idea what Getz would do if in charge, and the president hire is more important imo. Getz could be fine in the right spot, hard to say. People say sox have no developmental stories and that's not really true.
  3. If Dayton moore is pres of baseball ops, that would be fucking hilarious.
  4. They could promote him up to President of Ops mid-season. It's not unheard of.
  5. Yup and we can say what we will of AK, I liked the process and still like him in his role. Lonzo really changed everything from that plan design. If sox go full external and hire someone of similar ilk in baseball I'd be ecstatic.
  6. Someone needs to stay on and keep the lights on during a search.
  7. It actually makes perfect sense for Jerry to invest in a top of the line organization top to bottom now that he's planning on selling. Milk the last bit out of the organization before he moves on/passes.
  8. Dombroski doesn't build orgs. He's a finisher. Theo would require some ownership stake, which is an interesting angle. Although I'd prefer someone like Chernoff but doubt he'd leave for the Sox.
  9. I admittedly didn't look up the Nashville population and was going by the continually cited 1 million in this thread, but I guess my other point would still remain. I also don't think we're counting "Cities" within 2 and 1/2 hours unless all of a sudden Madison, Bloomington, Champagne, and the likes are now being accounted for in our Chicago example. The reality is, 99.999% chance the Sox aren't leaving Illinois, despite your doom and gloom nature. TexSox sadly will not get his dream of watching Sox fans be miserable as the team moves elsewhere.
  10. You don't understand what I'm saying when explaining that Chicago is more than twice as big as Seattle and OKC is 50% larger than Nashville? Uh, OK then.
  11. OKC metro has 1.5 million and Seattle metro had 4 million. So OKC > Nashville and Seattle << Chicago. Nothing alike, really.
  12. My tie to the White Sox is familial, not regional. It just so happens that them being on the South Side at one point instilled it in my father and grandfather. The challenge comes from kids born today, not from someone like me. I'll root for the Sox regardless. I'm not going to become a Cubs fan for god sakes. That said, I wouldn't blame my kid for finding whatever team he wanted because he won't necessarily have those ball game experiences with his dad and grandpa; at least not with any frequency like I did, and I'll be pretty damn bummed if that's the case.
  13. My company stopped matching my 401k after I left. Should I call the police?!?! Is this a serious thread?
  14. Man, you sure like rooting for this team to be moved. Pretty weird thing to hope for as a Sox fan.
  15. My pointless thoughts on this situation. Anderson needs to get some help, guy is losing it generally speaking and just needs to step back/away. Middleton is going to have a very hard time finding any friends anywhere he goes. This is also why s%*# in a clubhouse stays in a clubhouse. Now we're basically getting gossip posted as news. Grandal gets exposed by TA/whoever. So maybe TA used to locker by Abreu with the Cubans and with Abreu gone he moved to another part and Grandal took that personally so he leaks this. Now nothing we hear is anything but hurt feelings. Riordan blows.
  16. comparing palka nad burger is laughable
  17. Jake going to go on to have a Nellie Cruz back end of career.
  18. no one wins the media-trade-rave rewards quite like the sox. too bad those never count for anything outside of rick hahn high fives.
  19. and I was wrong, no excuses for Vaughn. Had his shots. Burger mashes.
  20. Trading Burger instead of Vaughn hurts me.
  21. I love how when you don't like a guy personally, it means all the players also hate him.
  22. Idk why you do this to yourself. They said they're not moving cease/TA and they're not imo. You're just setting yourself up for disappointment. They will try to patch work a roster next year. This is who they are.
  23. This is what I just don't buy... You're telling me Hahn pitches "hey, we spend 3 million hear, we save 100 million here in FA etc" and Jerry isn't interested? If Hahn had an idea to build out the proper infrastructure he could have. The Sox payroll is 190 million dollars; Jerry isn't forcing the Sox to invest the least in tech and analytics, and on PD. Maybe you think he wants to pinch pennies on amateurs and latin players, OK, but that doesn't mean he's going to say you can't implement this program, this system, these thousand dollar technologies... that's just nonsense imo and another Hahn excuse. Hahn was raving with Getz about a single message and technology and etc and then it came out then invested nothing there. If Jerry was that strict, a smart GM would drop 5-7 million off the payroll and put it in those segments because the ROI's in those spaces is massive in baseball right now.
  24. There honest to god might not be a more delusional group of people than the "Hahn isn't that bad" crowd. You don't need to sign mega free agents to compete. The Sox, under Hahn's watch, are bad at: drafting, Free agency, player development. Hahn was good and is now OK at: signing young guys to decent deals. It turns out that you actually have to identify and develop those guys for that skill to work. Rick didn't build a system from the ground up. He tried to build one from the top down, and just like everything he's done he was quickly exposed for the whole world to see.
