That's why I haven't COMPLETELY understood the doom and gloom unless you are entirely ignoring the whole picture. There is some hope to be gleamed from it all. Yes the major league team is complete ass, but literally no one on the team matters in a year or two minus like, 4 or 5 dudes.

Because the White Sox have two good major league players.

The majority of those prospects will not be good major leaguers.

Oh and because they were supposed to be in their peak contention window from their last rebuild, this year, but instead they're one of the worst teams of all time.

I don't know how anyone on earth doesn't completely understand the doom and gloom.

I’m sure I’ll get flamed for this, but I actually love that Getz pulled this off.  I really thought he’d burn the extra year of control for the sake being different, but he handled this correctly and it’s a good sign of how he’ll handle in the future.

Turns out nastrini got pneumonia which was the only reason his start was pushed back

  3. Nastrini looks like he could be a nice 3/4. Fastball placement needs to get better but the slider and change were nice. Slider needs to be more competitive as he got a swing or two he won't get again.

Crochet starts are must watch baseball. Everything else is terrible and even crochet starts are just worth watching his side of the ball.

Let that stupid old c*** threaten to move the team. What city in their right mind would want the Chicago White Sox? Serious question. They are perennial losers, who don't draw. They don't have a national fanbase. They've been the laughing stock of the MLB for most of the last two decades.

The sox have one of the most international brands in the game.

Does bro know he's coaching a 40 win team projected to finish league last in runs? Mofo giving quotes like he's got the '27 Yankees.

You think you can just bring anyone into this clubhouse and risk them disrupting the great thing they have going right now?!?!?!?!

  6. What's absolutely wild to think about is that the White Sox pitching has FAR exceeded any possible expectations for this unit at the start... and I doubt there's much sustainability there beyond Crochet/Fedde, and the team is still absolutely terrible. Now they lose Robert. The bottom is low!

I just did not understand the rationale for trading Burger. Is it that they were risking him becoming injury prone again or that his power hitting was going away? Was it just that he was getting too old and they needed to get starting pitching? Or that they wanted to have a fire sale to replenish the farm?

Kenny hated Rick and wanted to move Burger behind his back.

Lorenzen got $4.5M guaranteed. Both he and Clevinger have proved more in mlb than  Crochet. The reality is crochet is another TJS away from not getting a meaningful FA contract after his arb years. Even giving him $20M guaranteed is risky at this point until he proves he can stay healthy and pitch more than 50 innings in a season. I agree he has a ton of potential but so did Michael Kopech and Eloy Jimenez.

The only way teams like the sox can lock up guys like crochet is to get him locked up early and take some of that risk..

Clevinger and Lorenzen are in no way worth more than crochet.

I'd probably look to deal both guys (assuming they have had good seasons relatively) this deadline. Their arms have had a lot of usage and injuries already and although I'd wish both guys well and another thousand MLB innings each -- I just don't see it.

It's a good problem to have if it happens. Crochet is clearly on another level he could really get a haul if he's having a '22 Cease like season.

I actually like crochet a ton because his arm doesn't have a lot of wear and tear or volume. If he can stay healthy he might have a lot of bullets left. Similar to someone like wheeler, not terrible to get hurt a bunch in your early 20s if you can find some health.

If they can get a Cease type return (or better) I would do it. This team isn’t competing until 2026 at the earliest anyways and it’s not like the Sox are going to pay him after the 2026 season if he’s the next Randy Johnson.

Crochet is 24 years old. They could... you know, sign him? Sox don't plan on being good in the next 6 years. You watching what this guy is doing in his second big league start vs avcuna and an elite offense?

The injury risk is large which is the big concern but if he shows me durability and sustained success this year I'm not moving.
