  1. I don't usually get excited for things like this, but I don't recall ever seen the Sox fan base as a whole this excited for the upcoming season. Hopefully, our enthusiasm continues for a long, long time.
  2. Give it to a kid. it'll mean alot more to them, than it does you throwing it.
  3. In a bizarre turn of events the White Sox sign Harper. In a corresponding move, Engel is designated for assignment. Harper puts up career lows the next three years and picks up his option because nobody wants to pay for a hitter batting .220 with 15 home runs and 60 rbis. Engel was claimed by the Padres. Engel average for the past three seasons was .300/ 20 HRS/ 80 RBS/ 60 SB/ 8 Robbed Homeruns/ 3 gold gloves
  4. That was only because the Giants are apparently willing to go ten years. If the Dodgers offer a 6+ year deal I think he takes it.
  5. He's going to sign March 1st at the latest (my opinion). I feel this is the last ditch effort to get some final bids. Harper loves the game of baseball and its probably killing him not to be in spring training right now. The Phils don't believe they have a good chance was reported to see if it created an opening for a team like the Sox or Giants. We're going to hear about all these offers/meetings for the next 12 or so hours and Harper is going to end up signing. In order of likeliness here are my top teams: 1. Giants 2. Dodgers 3. Phillies 4. Sox 5. Nationals 6. Padres
  6. THE Jake Peter? I don't think the Dodgers are that foolish. We'll have to eat at least 75% of the salary.
  7. Like sign Harper and somehow make the Sox pay for it? "Hey, if you could spot us money to sign Harper we'll let you use our spring training facility"
  8. I don't follow that logic. In that case I'm the number one plan since there isn't any evidence and are completely silent on the idea (even though I would sign at league minimum).
  9. False. Pepsi (White Sox) is far superior when compared to Coke (Cubs). If fact. some people prefer the taste. We could be in worse shape. We be RC Cola (Marlins) or Shasta (Rays)....Never would have thought I would use a pop metaphor for baseball.
  10. That would probably be better doing it at ST. It will be right in front of their faces every day.
  11. I agree Adam LaRoache was worse on the Sox, but I based the list off the players best prime years. Even though LaRoache was worse for the Sox, Dunn had the better career so he made the list. That's also why I put Frazier on, even though admittedly he was a reach.
  12. The only thing Dunn had going for him that year was home runs. He was 76th in the league for OBP. He barely broke 200
  13. I can see the argument for Frazier, but not Dunn. You can't go from batting around .250 for most of your career then bat .220 for the rest of your career without regressing.
  14. Dunn's highest BA here was .219. His second best was .204 Even thought he's not known for his average, those numbers are horrid. Frazier batted .225 and .213 with the Sox. Again, Power numbers are up but those averages are a disaster
  15. Damnit. I could have sworn I put them down. I'll update it now.
  16. The Marwin Gonzalez type player works best when teams are already good. If let's whoever's hot to keep playing and give guys rest. His ability to play everywhere isn't valuable to a rebuilding team as it is to a contender.
  17. Even though Santana is only a year removed from a decent season, I can't help to think that the Sox FO loves getting older, washed up veterans. Imagine all these guys in their primes: C- Sandy Alomar Jr. 1B- Adam Dunn or Justin Morneau 2B- Roberto Alomar SS- Jimmy Rollins 3B- Todd Frazier LF- Manny Ramirez CF- Ken Griffey Jr. RF- Jose Canseco SP- Ervin Santana Bench- Melky Cabrera Bench-Kevin Youkilis Bench: Kenny Lofton Feel free to add more. These are just the names off the top of my head.
  18. That was such a poorly worded fake source. It wouldn't be a "mystery team." It would either be the Sox, who were already linked to him, or the Cubs (the only other MLB team in Chicago)....It wouldn't even take Scooby Doo and the gang the full 30 minutes to figure this out.
  19. I think it has to be old. No way someone would be able to take this type of picture.
  20. I admit I'm a hypocrite. I get pissed when other teams do it, but if Kenny would have said it and we got Manny I would have laughed as if it was nothing. Fuck the Padres BTW.
  21. I'm happy with having Yolmer as our versatile guy. He's not going to have the numbers like Marwin, but Yolmer is great for the clubhouse, fans, and coaches.
  22. Agreed. If they said "don't come here" that's completely different. They said San Diego is a beautiful city. What's he supposed to say? My friends said this city sucks and I shouldn't want to be here?
  23. I don't think this is going to affect how people perceive them. As soon as he signed elsewhere, they already knew they weren't going to be received well by the fans.
  24. Assuming they still perform at a high level and don't get injured. Otherwise not a team in the world would take on those contracts.
