    Hes actually even worse defensively.

Hes a great case in point for baseball caring a lot less about defense than 1st base WAR does.

Bell was a 2.5 WAR player. If he was made available, his package would equal that of a 4-5 WAR talent not A 2.5 WAR talent.

    Bell (26) - .277 / .367 / .569  / wRC+ 135

    Abreu (32)  - .284 / .330 / .503 / wRC + 117

We need a DH let Bell or Abreu focus on one or the other but Bell would be a massive offensive upgrade at DH.

Do you really think that it makes sense to sign 3 position players? I think that Rendon and a LH bat (Moose, or Grandal) would be sufficient. Then spend the money on pitching

    I do yes

Jerry has the money to spend but won’t

lol I remember you...You were the guy that kept telling us to “get ready” for the Machado signing last year!

Hahaha yeah they played me I just wanted to hype up this thread.

Hoping for JDM, Grandal, Rendon, Wheeler, Betances

    But highly doubt it happens

If the White Sox are going to pay premium salary, they should get a premium player.

That was why they should have signed Machado or Harper. Guys who, even if you gave them a large and lengthy contract, were going to give you their first ballot HOF prime years. So what if you gave them 1-2 years at an inflated salary? If you won big during those prime years, it would have been worth the invesmtent.

With Arenado already off of the board, I would save my money and make a huge offer in a few years to Mike Trout, Kris Bryant, Mookie Betts, or Alex Bregman. Sure, you have to outbid large market teams with deep pockets. Sure, it would need to be in the same realm as Harper or Machado. Yet, those are the players you pay that kind of money to. Not an aging guy like JD Martinez. That was why Hahn and Kenny royally f***** up this off-season.

This is spot on, there’s nobody in next year’s free agency class that I want, you use that money for the big guns even though the Sox will just end up finishing in 2nd every time. I don’t want them touching any of the junk next year. And with that being said they’ll overpay for some aging bum next year only to say “hey we spend the money”. They screwed up this offseason and deserve to be destroyed for it. I for one will not forgive them for blowing this offseason.

  5. What I don’t think Jerry understands is that Harper would only improve the organization’s worth, put butts in the seat, make it more marketable, and show fans he’s serious about this. If they truly are out on Bryce which I believe they are then it goes to show everyone they clearly do not value us as fans and only in for the money. The way the negotiations went with Manny was a shit show, to think your future, having his brother in law and good friend here was more valuable than money guaranteed money to the player goes to show you they don’t understand this market.

  6. Well at least we still have funny man Yolmer Sanchez here and the players love playing for Ricky Renteria. Guys this is the lowest I’ve been as a fan that I can remember. The fact that they won’t even bother with Bryce is an embarrassment. Jerry needs to sell the team because this is horseshit and they think that fans will still just show up because they still have prospects, granted I’m excited to see Eloy and the young guys but how can I support a team who doesn’t show the appreciation for the fans. It’s just hard to accept that the Padres who have a better farm system, have 2 guys making over $20 mil, and play in a small market were willing to go above and beyond to build a competitive team. I hope Jerry, Kenny, and Rick get no sleep and this moment haunts them for the rest of their time here. I can’t do it guys

  7. Back to being a fan again.....

I hate Jerry Reinsdorf, the fact that we lost out to the Padres, the damn Padres of all teams is an embarrassment. I really hope Jerry, KW, and Rick make a nervous move and just offer the moon to Harper but they won’t because the prospects... they need money down the road for the prospects... I hope Scott Boras shows Sox Twitter and shit even this forum to Jerry. Competitive offer my ass, you guys BLEW IT.

  8. Guys, I apologize, I thought the Sox had this in the bag and stupidly had more faith in this front office and ownership to get this done. I thought they turned a corner and I was fooled. I’m sitting here just as pissed and stunned as you are. I’m not gonna delete the account because it’s a good chat to be apart of.

  9. I understand all the pessimism but really other than us fans getting a fix from Sox rumors it’s more beneficial that we not hear them. I guarantee you Hahn and co. are working hard to get this done. The Sox will end up with Manny again it’s just a matter of how much and when it’s announced.

And who do you think leaked that?  It’s clearly coming from Lozano.

This is Lozano trying to sneak in a few more bucks, Manny does not want to play in San Diego, folks this will get done, I understand the frustration and worries but this separates the men from the boys. Rick and co. know damn well the firestorm that would occur if they don’t pay up. Everyone needs to kick back enjoy the roller coaster ride but come opening day Manny will be on the Sox. I will say this the Padres interest is VERY real but Manny’s interest in San Diego... not so much.

The Sox will sign Machado, the Padres stuff is real but Manny does not want to go there, this is a ploy to get the Sox to pay up. I can say with 200% certainty Manny will be playing 3B for the Sox next season.

Guys, breathe.... He’s going to the Sox just a question as to how much he’s going to play here for. Rick and co. have been planning for this for 3 years. They’ll seal the deal.

San Diego came to the dance late. They're kicking the tires. Only because of the market and its depressed condition.  They are the team that's looking for things on sale - clearance.

The whitesox have been planning this shopping spree for what 2 years?  At least, maybe 3? The sox have done a lot of planning. They have signed his 2 best friends! There is too much invested in him to let some bargain shopping team like the Padres come in at the 11th hour and try to buy him. Sorry San Diego, not happening.

^^^ Manny will be the starting 3B for the White Sox on opening day
