  1. Funny that there are some people worried about a $35 million AAV as opposed to $30 million AAV. That’s one mediocre player off the roster, like Jon Jay for example... or any one of the countless ~$5 million dollar players the Sox have wasted money on over the years. Yolmer Sanchez is making $4.625 million this year and I’d rather see him dumping Gatorade on people than playing. And this guy will be starting at 2B if the Sox miss out on Machado...
  2. I don’t have any info but a number that high ($280) for 8 years seems like an agent-generated rumor to up the offers when the other rumored numbers are all much lower at $175, $250, and $240. I guess we will find out when he signs in two more months, lol.
  3. If the Sox don’t land Machado, Rich Hahn is surely going to look like a clown. $13 million for Alonso and Jay looks fine if Machado is wearing a Sox fan but it looks like crap if Machado is a Padre. Imagine having to watch Alonso and Jay play for a Machado-less Sox team? Puke city.
  4. I guess my question would be why were so many people sure the Padres offered $280 when a $240 number was also throw around. Just like the Sox $175 and $250 numbers. The truth is it doesn’t seem like any of these reporters have very good inside info.
  5. Exactly. There are two 26 year old Hall of Famers available for nothing but money. Let’s be honest. The Sox have no prayer at landing Trout. Arenado will be older than both Harper and Machado when he hits free agency. He will be 29 at the beginning of the 2020 season after he signs. People act like the Sox will have another shot at two young future Hall of Famers. I’m not seeing it... the fact is that there will never be a better time than now to spend big money on one of these two top free agents.
  6. It’s not an “at any cost” situation but it’s pretty close. The Sox don’t need to become the place that no free agents want to go like the Bulls. Rick Hahn has been telling us, the fans, that they have been planning for this offseason for awhile. Now it’s time to put up and land a whale or shut up.
  7. This is definitely the way to go. I ordered some Bears jerseys (Mack & Hicks) before the season started and while it is extremely slow boat shipping from China, the jerseys are great knockoffs and were dirt-cheap at around $20 each after shipping. DHGate also has an app you can download to do your searching and ordering.
  8. I watched some videos on this from whitesoxdave’s Twitter. I have to wonder what the White Sox marketing staff was thinking -- 11 AM on a Wednesday? Also, they had people pitching with a windup backed up against the bullpen wall. If you watch the videos, look at where the pitching rubber is. Also, could they not have been bothered to at least try to shovel/rake out some of the snow/ice? If you are going to bother having a cool event like this, at least exert some effort and do it right. Great idea, poor execution.
  9. In GMoney’s Twitter profile, he has “Part Of Alonzo Family Tree” and spelled Alonso with a z instead of an s. Both seem very legit... I’m excited now!
  10. Poor J.D. Drew... https://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2011/3/11/2044411/jd-drew-phillies-fans-batteries
  11. This is getting old... Sign Machado, sign Gio, trade for Joc, and end the offseason.
  12. And what did he say? Typical BS response by Hahn?
  13. In that scenario, I would expect Vince McMahon to come out of the limo and laugh maniacally at all of the press expecting it to be Machado and/or Harper to announce he has purchased the Sox from Jerry and is cutting the payroll to Rays/Marlins levels.
  14. Yes, but this seems to be cat and mouse holdout game between Harper and Machado. Neither wants to sign first. Harper will have to sign at some point to give Sony some time to print artwork of him and his new time prior to the game’s release date of March 26th but that’s still awhile away and I would guess they both sign much sooner that that.
  15. Bingo. I’m sure there are insiders but not as many as you would think from reading the social media cesspool on Twitter.
  16. I don’t believe this conspiracy theory as much as I believe social media clowns want to try to grab free attention.
  17. I did hear that White Sox Fest is gonna be pretty pretty pretty good this year... 😂
  18. All of these social media sources are a joke. Everyone wants to say they know when it is happening to get more press/publicity for themselves. Just like Richard Roeper and his hinting of Machado signing for SoxFest. And now, since he never specifically said it, he gets away with his bit of fake news. Just like the rest of these clowns jumping in saying he will sign today or soon based on every other hint or rumor of it possibly happening.
  19. Not to get political but the Sinclair news is actually very negative and disappointing to a large number of liberal Cubs fans for obvious reasons.
  20. I don’t think Hector knows exactly when Machado will sign but I think he has the feeling it will be soon. He seems to have the most inside knowledge of Machado and his agents dealings, likely from Machado’s dad.
  21. Lurker here but I have been following this thread for awhile... My buddy who is just a Sox fan with no sources messaged me the following this morning: “Wife has a couple Chicago cops in the family. 2 are on "special duty" today at Comiskey.” However, he was unaware of the Fast Pitch event at GRate. When I told him about this event, he said damn. However, the Rawlings gloves are still giving me hope that the Sox nab him and possibly soon.
