  1. 96 and 96, on 0-1 and 0-2. 2 fastballs in a row. I watched this shit last season. This is what Abreu did when it counted last season vs. the A's and now he's doing it again. He choked and there's no way around it. A Vaughn/Sheets platoon at a discount can give you this, and maybe you can take his salary and buy a guy who won't choke in return.
  2. ^Is that what your best hitter is supposed to do on fastballs in the playoffs?
  3. He swings through a slightly elevated 96 up over the outside corner against Graveman and then proceeds to swing through 95 down the middle part of the plate? Did you watch? The only task this guy has is to hit, especially, to hit fastballs, and swinging through 2 straight fastablls in a row in those locations on the biggest stage of all? Yeah sorry Jose. I like the regular seasons tats but you're a dead llama when it counts. Go climb a hill and disappear on the other side if that's what you are going to do when it really counts. Again, this is Graveman, this isn't the best the game has to offer. See ya later. I'd rather play a Sheets/Vaughn platoon and reallocate the $15M or whatever it is elsewhere at that point.
  4. Rick Hahn still has to get approval from KW and JR. Again, how is letting Hahn go a good thing if you're going to keep KW and KR? Look at the Sox extensions resutls under Hahn vs. KW. I would argue that Hahn has been as good or better of a GM than KW. I think his extensions of Sale, Q, and Eaton are the best FO moves the org has made since the championship in 2005.
  5. Abreu was trash in the postseason last year, and he can't do better than that? He's the lead guy at the forefront of our giant 1B/DH monster. Time to go kick the can down the road Jose. Yeah it sucks, yeah the biz is brutal, see ya later. If the Sox can go from Frank to Thome they can let Abreu go. See ya. Thanks for all of the highlights during losing seasons but see ya.
  6. I hate being hamstrung by the very top of the organization. I have felt this way ever since I was old enough to understand how baseball teams worked. The Sox should have dominated this divison since 1990. Instead it's been CLE and MIN, and DET have been the big spenders. Sox have one title. What a fucking joke.
  7. Ahead of schedule? Only ONE TEAM in a division of 5 actually tried to compete against us. CLE had a shot and salary-dumped their starting 2B on us for a guy in A ball. Only one team actually even tried, and they fell on their faces out of the gate. This team has a golden ticket to the postseason. And the rest of the league also dealt with injuries. We had a gift division championship. Don't act like our guys overachieved about anything. This was a team that was supposed to be good enough to fend off even a terrifying MIN offense and quality pitching staff. As it turned out we didn't have to fend off anyone; we just had to show up. And we barely got up and out of bed.
  8. Holy shit probably at least a top notch RP and an interesting prospect. Let's not bury our heads in the sand. We could have gotten a good player from somebody.
  9. LOL both of these games were winnable, especially this one. This game WE SHOULD HAVE WON. Fuck & Destroy & Delete all of the elements that have blown a 4-2 lead in this game. This was ours to win. This year the Sox have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory so many times already. With that dogshit division -- even given the injuries -- we should have won 100+. We got 93. And we should at least be 1-1 heading to Chicago. Actually, we should have played the first two games at home, considering how much better the AL West was than the AL Central this year.
  10. I think that trading him for a RF, 2B, or SP, or even C would have been a good call. But for a RP? Especially one making like $32M or whatever for 2 years? And giving up Heuer in the process? Holy shit. I mean you couldn't have gotten a Staumont type for Madrigal instead, if you really **had** to trade him for a RP? Really?? Just an epic miss.
  11. KW thought that Kimbrel was the best guy to go after also. Getting rid of Hahn accomplishes nothing. Hahn is merely a stooge.
  12. Great line by the TV man: "Kimbrel, close to untouchable for the Cubs, has been something like a punching bag for the Sox." Right. If this was Jason Bennetti he'd be singing the nationwide jingle or doing something else dorkish or stupid.
  13. Right. TLR is here until he doesn't want to be, or until JR is dead.
  14. Now is about the time we need Jason and Steve to start making excuses for the team. Where are they?
  15. Bummer gets fuckloads of groundballs, problem is most of them are hit hard as fuck.
  16. Luis can impact a game in so many dimensions. If only we had 9 Luis Roberts...
  17. How great would our pen be if Hahn traded for another Tepera type and kept Heuer, and kept Madrigal for an offseason trade? Tepera has been a revelation. Great move. First 2 outings were bad, then since that point he's mostly been nails. Great trade.
  18. I guess that the thought is, Mendick has a lot more experience than Romy at the MLB level, and no matter what, neither guy was going to play unless TA and/or Moncada got hurt. So it's a choice between 2 guys who won't take the field or get an AB unless the most tragic events occur.
