  1. These tickets are available for purchase for season ticket holders, I remember seeing them on stubhub, with a note you also need a regular game ticket to enter the stadium, but I don't see any listed so far for the couple of games I checked. They weren't listed with expensive on stubhub for most games, IIRC $10-$15 per ticket. Hopefully they didn't change the policy to allow resale. I never was inside the Stadium Club, but would be cool to check it out. I like the Club Level especially with sketchy weather, being able to sit out a rain delay in warmth. Also like viewing the game from that level around the infield, vs. the upper deck where I won't go anymore. You can typically find decent to great prices for club seats for weekday day games and weeknight (M-Th) games in April, May and September.
  2. Wow, thanks. I would have understood if Cease told Getz he wants to test the open market. Not sure what if anything was discussed regarding a possible extension with that quote. Would be really sad if the Sox don’t extend Robert, and Oakland signs a nine figure contract (likely after a move to wherever) before the White Sox.
  3. WTF. Can you provide a link? Sounds like this may be the last over $100M payroll season until possibly 2029 with that line of thinking.
  4. I didn’t realize DeJong was primarily a 3B before here, so Mendick might not make it. Mendick can still cover all three INF spots (like Sosa), plus late game out of players corner OF for limited games, so his flexibility might still help him make the team. Who would be your three preferred non catcher reserves? I’d replace Mendick with Shewmake with this new to me information if Shewmake is healthy. Also hope Lee, Colas and Sosa come up and play regularly early in the season to assess if they can contribute in the future. Total Games Played at 3B - All Levels Total Games Player (Starts) 40 Man Roster 549 Moncada (541) 276 DeJong (177) 249 Ramos (248) AA 115 Lopez (45) 59 Sosa (52) AAA 26 Rodriguez (21) AAA 11 Lee (7) AAA 3 Maldonado (0) 2 Vaughn (1) 2 Shewmake (0) 1 Sheets (0) Remaining NRI Players 497 Remillard (266) 132 Mendick (116) 88 Elko (0)
  5. Getz and Pedro might be offered mid-season extensions if the White Sox are within ten games of .500 at any point in July. High Water July Record Hahn Era: -12 (July 2, 2023: 37-49) +1 (July 31, 2022: 51-50) +21 (July 20, 2021: 58-37) 0 (July 25, 2020: 1-1) -1 (July 3, 2019: 29-30) -25 (July 3, 2018: 30-55) -8 (July 3, 2017: 37-45) +3 (July 9, 2016: 45-42) -1 (July 29, 2015: 49-50) -3 (July 31, 2014: 53-56) -14 (July 4, 2013: 34-48)
  6. I don't see Ohtani retiring from baseball to play in the NBA G-League, before returning to the Dodgers in August 2025
  7. Owners were to approve the partial 40% transaction in a few weeks, but will now approve the 100% sale of the Orioles at their upcoming meeting. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/03/orioles-owner-peter-angelos-passes-away.html New ownership open to spending, even by say a reasonable $30M-$50M more based on the $320M in revenue disclosed last August would go a long way to keeping Baltimore competitive for the rest of this decade.
  8. Perhaps Nastrini needs more than four starts at the AAA level before being handed a rotation spot.
  9. Good God those uniforms look horrendous. Like a little league team outfitted by Wal-Mart or jerseys silk screened in someone's garage. Nastrini with a walk but no further damage.
  10. Len has returned, he was sick for the Wednesday broadcast. Iowa game is at the half. They are leading Holy Cross 48-30, will have that on mute with the radio broadcast and watching the webcast during halftime.
  11. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mariners-vs-white-sox/2024/03/23/747832/preview Final radio broadcast of Spring Training. Hoping it's Len and DJ so I can enjoy listening. No television as apparently the 2024 World Figure Skating Championships are NBC Sports Chicago's priority this afternoon. Starting pitchers are projected 5th starter for the White Sox Nick Nastrini, sporting a 0.82 ERA & Ratio over four ST appearances. He will be opposed by RHP George Kirby with an 8.31 ERA and 1.73 Ratio over 3 ST starts. The White Sox are a -125 favorite, run line Seattle -1 1/2 + 165, total is at 10 runs -118.
  12. I think that is fair criticism, and either number is terrible for an entire staff. I do think that over/under performances vs. the projections will mostly even out (so say expected 2024 White Sox Staff fWAR will end up somewhere between 7.5 and 10.0 in 2024). Let me be clear my statement was addressing the disparity between the two staffs. 8.8 or 10.0 overall. Both indicate a bottom 10-14% pitching staff across the history of the MLB. From 1901-2023 (excluding the 1974 season which for some reason isn't populating team fWAR), there are 2622 total pitching seasons. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/major-league?pos=all&stats=pit&lg=nl&lg=al&qual=y&type=8&month=0&ind=1&team=0%2Cts&startdate=&enddate=&sortcol=21&sortdir=default&pageitems=2000000000&season1=1901&season=2023&pagenum=1 Cleveland's 2017 staff has the highest Pitching fWAR at 30.4. The 1915 Athletics were the worst all time (excluding the 2020 owner lockout) at 0.3 fWAR 8.8 fWAR would tie for 2207 of 2620, but should place them lower due to the fact there were many short seasons under this for including 1981, 1994, 2020. Bottom line, both staffs are/were bad, but I don't expect much of a difference in overall performance.
  13. Not sure about that. Better staff now than post deadline. First 4 months had a lot of bad pitchers as well. 2024 Projections (Fan Graphs Depth Chart): 8.8 fWAR 2023 Actual: 10.0 fWAR

  15. Well, this is the first year of the new regime, so it is hard to tell what Getz would do plus Grifol's record last year of prioritizing veterans. If they open versus Detroit with this roster give or take a guy or two, it is fine and they will have some OK, hopefully good / improving options (Colas or Sosa, maybe Popeye) before the next core group is considered late this year or early next year. 2024 Opening Day Roster Starters (RF TBD): C Maldonado; 1B Vaughan; 2B Lopez; 3B Moncada; SS DeJong; LF Benintendi; CF Robert Junior; DH Jimenez Reserves C Stassi; INF Mendick; RF/OF Fletcher & Phillips; 1B/DH Sheets Rotation: 1 Crochet; 2 Soroka; 3 Fedde; 4 Flexen; 5 Nastrini Bullpen: CL Kopech; SU Brebbia; Leasure & Wilson; MR Banks; Hill; Swing: Garcia; Toussaint Last Out: RP J. 17. Giving me more confidence in Getz thinking bigger picture. Eventually would like to see Colas given another shot this year if ready as starting RF and Fletcher as a fourth OF if he can produce enough to stay up on the 26 man roster. Believe they are going with Brett Phillips based on Garfien’s tweets today (primarily the first one).
  18. Group photo: Moustakas, Chavez, Maldonado and Shaw. He’ll need to improve his TWTW, as the Sox have a .022 higher winning percentage without Luis than with him. Luis Robert Junior TWTW Score (2020-2023) -13: +5 2020 (Si 33-26 +7 vs. No 3-1 +2) -8 2021 (Si 38-30 +8 vs. No 55-39 +16) +8 2022 (Si 51-47 +4 vs. No 30-34 -4) -18 2023 (Si 58-87 -29 vs. No 3-14 -11) White Sox with Luis Robert Junior: 180-190 .486 White Sox without Luis Robert Junior: 91-88 .508
  19. It's possible not a single one of the fourteen players listed below could even be the last man on a competitive White Sox team. That said, it makes no sense the next two years to go with retirees they are likely to roster over the younger players which may possibly be worth something in a couple of years. FanGraph 2024 Depth Chart Projections OPS Player fWAR (Projected Games Played) .720 Gavin Sheets 0.1 (53 Games) .698 Oscar Colas 0.0 (10 Games) .691 Kevin Pillar 0.2 (44 Games) .676 Lenyn Sosa 0.3 (36 Games) .671 Dominic Fletcher 0.4 (97 Games) .669 Mike Moustakas -0.1 (16 Games) .667 Zach DeLoach 0.0 (8 Games) .659 Paul DeJong 0.7 (76 Games) .648 Max Stassi 0.9 (65 Games) .647 Jose Rodriguez 0.1 (26 Games) .632 Braden Shewmake 0.2 (34 Games) .632 Nicky Lopez 0.7 (86 Games) .615 Korey Lee 0.0 (29 Games) .582 Martin Maldonado -0.6 (68 Games)
  20. Not a Pedro fan, but what is he supposed to say? Doesn’t make sense to rip your boss or players publicly. Perhaps it’s his way to criticize the shitty veterans Getz is keeping over guys who actually performed in camp. Same as Tony taking shots at Kimbrel not being able to handle the 8th inning. Gets doesn’t say bupkis about much of anything.
  21. https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/white-soxs-prelander-berroa-optioned-to-triple-a/amp/ Prelander Berroa will start the season in Charlotte. Thankfully, it appears he is over his shoulder issue.
