  1. I’d wait until Pedro is gone early to mid season before calling up any prospects who have no MLB service time. Don’t want Pedro adversely impacting any rookies with his douchebaggery. Want them to experience as normal/good an MLB experience as is possible with the White Sox. Rather they muddle through with what Getz acquired and pull waived guys or sign Boyd, Cueto, Greinke, Hill, Lorenzen, Syndergaard. Don’t give a s%*# about performance, just guys who can eat innings and possibly flip.
  2. I’ll use the list below to track the remaining players signed into the season: Players signed after Spring Training Games began on 2/22: AAV contract estimates vs. Actual Guaranteed AAV Received E Estimate R Received Signed Players: CHI NL 2/27 C. 3. Per FanGraphs, Crochet has 3.027 years of MLB service time, Kopech 4.041. Both will remain arbitration eligible from this point forward until they reach 6 years of service time, and both players have 3 years of minor league options available. Once a player reaches 5.0 years of MLB service time, they must consent to being optioned.
  4. Two updates. 1. J. D. Davis signed with Oakland yesterday for $2.5M, with an additional $1.0M available in incentives. Coupled with the $1.1M he is due from San Francisco, his net $3.6M is $3.3M, or nearly half, less than his $6.9M arbitration award. No word on a grievance filing to reclaim this difference. 2. Three additional players have signed since the March 9 update: Michael A. Taylor for $4M with Pittsburgh Adam Duvall for $3M with Atlanta Domingo German signed a minor league deal with Pittsburgh. He will earn $1.25M if he makes the Pirates roster, which kicks in a $2.5M 2025 Club Option. Additional Performance incentives are available in both seasons. This leaves six unsigned Top 50 MLB Trade Rumors 2024 Free Agents unsigned, plus two players listed in their Honorable Mention section with less than two weeks to go to North American Opening Day. 5. This was a relatively easy selection, driven by this player's amazing 1990 season to celebrate my 37th win of the day!

Does not include these days and perhaps others I overlooked in which I tied for first but for whatever reason was placed second and awarded Silver:

  6. I found Baseball Prospectus solid in terms of Rotisserie projections over the years beyond the validity of PECOTA, because their staff does a solid job projecting playing time and keeping up with changes. Here is the link to BP’s current White Sox projected 2024 playing time splits: https://www.baseballprospectus.com/orgs/chicago-white-sox/depth-charts/ Depth chart analyst: Brian Duricy Pitchers (Innings > 30) Hitters (Plate Appearances > 175) Starters (8): 1. 10. I would have to see more before saying I’d like to see him converted to a full time hire, but definitely like the sound of Manager Montoyo for Memorial Day Weekend. Would have liked it last year around that time as well,.
  11. I had a hiatus during that period of the White Sox. Why are you considering Lawrie a pariah, and/or why did Jose Abreu have issues with him? Seems like Brett a good guy. Was traded for asshole Josh Donaldson when this girl cried. Part losing her favorite player, also instinctively knowing Josh Donaldson was the worst case scenario. https://www.si.com/extra-mustard/2014/12/12/brett-lawrie-traded-visits-young-fan-who-cried
  12. I'd like to pair him with a decent project for a trade with Arizona for Mena.
  13. That would require DFAing just about every position player acquired this offseason. Not sure how Getz would explain this to Jerry.
  14. I don't like the idea of anyone in the system under 24 playing for this tanking team, especially under this manager. Let them start the year 10-40, as they were designed to do. Montoyo can manage the rest of the season to save Jerry money. Bring in a quality manager in 2025 with the core coming through with a legitimately run clubhouse led by a competent manager.
  15. Austrian or Keynesian, or the current MMT print money until it's absolutely worthless like it is today version?
  16. Perhaps John Stanton, even Kevin Mather if he still has ownership shares, need to make a list of all the bad things they have done in life including to Mariners fans, and begin to make restitution.
  17. If Bazzana, Burns, Condon and Smith are off the board, who do you go with? Who do you think Getz will go with, and will Jerry interfere / continue to interfere? Do you think the organization will shift to athletes over batting cage/DH types with Hahn Haber gone? Have to laugh Jerry slated Jeremy Haber as COO of the NBA 2K League.
  18. I believe Cot's Contracts run by Baseball Prospectus is the best source, but only goes back to 2000.https://legacy.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/ (Click team logo to get payrolls for each team from 2000 to present) Spotrac is also a good source, but only goes back to 2011. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/payroll/ I used Baseball Cube, not sure their exact sourcing or if it's OD, Final Payroll, or some other method. Baseball Cube goes back to 1988. https://www.thebaseballcube.com/page.asp?PT=payroll_year&ID=1988 For other sources, I found the Sox may not have been last in 1987 payroll, so I will only claim the last three years in Comiskey as being in dead last from now on. Using Baseball Cube for a consistent source throughout the past 36 years. There have been two seasons with a payroll over $128M (2022 and 2023). Not sure if that mark will ever be broached again in Jerry's tenure. ALso, about 2/3 of the amount listed in 1994 and 1/3 in 2020 were actually paid to players, due to the respective walkout (1994) and owner lockout (2020). 19. Over 100 people voted, with B getting slightly over 50%, so the people have spoken and generally are optimistic regarding the trade. Just over 80% hit B or C, both being fair at this stage as we will need time to see how this plays out, plus the outsized expectations of return as Getz held out the past few months for very highly rated prospects. Think the overall discussion regarding the trade since it happened both here and in the OG thread was relatively reasonable and productive.
  20. Not to get political here, but you didn't quote this part of the article which is the driving factor, though would need to see if these savings are ultimately realized.
  21. JR is calling the shots. He has never cared much if at all in terms of prospects acquired, drafted or signed. All he cares about is a net $7.2M drop in payroll. I thought there was a chance he would dump Benintendi, Eloy and or Moncada in a Cease trade for less prospect return if he could drop payroll under $100M, I don't suspect payroll will be above $100M after this season until he passes or we are in the early to mid 2030s and he gets a free or mostly free stadium somewhere. The Sox were literally dead last in payroll the final four seasons at Comiskey Park. and below average the first two years at the new stadium despite record attendance.
  22. They had about the same offseason as the Sox in terms of new money spent and fWAR acquired. I expect they will finish in last unless Milwaukee or the garbage Cardinals drop below them. Doesn't included potential NRI conversions, does include money sent on trades. 23. Pillar is the better defensive OF, IMO. Fine with both getting at bats if they will be in the team, but don’t want much of Fletcher at DH this season.
  24. Will either of these games be available for free on either team’s website, or broadcast via radio in Chicago? Thanks in advance for someone trying to catch one of the few meaningful games in 2024 (prospects).
  25. Assuming Clevinger isn't signed and I'm still around to post, I will post an updated 40 man roster thread grouping players as to how they were acquired for Opening Day, after the final roster decisions have been made.
