  4. And it's a disservice to their confidence and development to bring up guys under 23 or 24 beyond a September Call Up reward unless they have established a significant level of progression through the AAA level. These guys have been rushed because year after year Hahn has failed to sign legitimate starting 2B and RFers as well as solid roster depth and flexibility. 17 Age 23 or less have a 0.5 + fWAR YTD, 28 total with 0.1 +. 29 Total Hitters throughout the MLB have over 77 Plate Appearances YTD at age 23 or less. and 43 total have 1 or more. Minor League Players brought up without proper development: Oscar Colas (Age 24) - One American Year, 117 Total Minor League Games Played, 7 Games Played in AAA Charlotte Lenyn Sosa (Age 23) - 2021 promoted from A+ and played 35 total games at AA. 2022 62 Games Played at AA, 57 Games at AAA Charlotte. Jose Rodriguez (Age 22) - 2021 78 Games at A, 29 Games at A+, 6 Games at AA. 2022 104 Games at AA. This is not the proper way to manage a major league franchise.
  5. Adam can adequately play CF to rest Robert for a game or in a blowout, hope they rest Robert once on the road trip and once at home before the ASB, especially if he is attending the ASG. In other news, Tim Anderson has returned to Shortstop, batting 2nd tonight in Anaheim. Frazier is the right fielder. It appears the Eloy RF experiment may be over (last start Game One, June 8 in The Bronx), or at least until the next White Sox injury.
  6. I am honouring one of my favorite players at the start of my Chicago White Sox fandom, Lamar Johnson, for my 23rd Win of the Day achieved June 25th, 2023. This is my first back to back Win of the Day!!

  7. Don't think their talent level over the next 3 years will be better than today. This is White Sox Last Dance, sans the two three-peats. Also think July sell means salary relief over prospect acquisition. Couple Lucas with other contracts teams won't necessarily want (Grandal, Lynn, others) and have other teams eat some/most/all of the money. Would speculate that is Jerry's priority at the deadline if selling. Would say worse case scenario is Hahn pulling another Hahn and not offering Lucas a QO like he passed on Rodon to have money for Kimbrel/Pollock. I wouldn't put it past Rick/ Jerry to do it again.
  8. Lone reason for slight optimism based on the upcoming two week schedule, and their series against the Yankees and Boston (4-2). Would say Pedro’s moves especially late game has improved in terms of utilizing the entire bench and knowing who he can trust in the bullpen and especially the 9th with Liam out again (Graveman and Middleton). People were saying Tony needed a full year plus to learn the roster that he had a large role in assembling. Would be fair to give Pedro through Memorial Day at minimum.
  9. OK, he was born in Mokomis, not sure where his house was at birth. Detmers' family moved to Chatham, Illinois, after his mother started a new job and he transferred to Glenwood High School for his senior year. I was born in Park Ridge, but was brought home the following day to Chicago where I live to this day and likely my dying breath unless I'm on vacation.
  10. I realize this is rhetorical, but I've been to at least five MLB stadiums worse than the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome Saint Petersburg Field Veterans Stadium (saw actual rats running around during my lone game there). Sky Dome - f*** domes. Joe Robbie Stadium - An absolute debacle for baseball.
  11. What really matters is what the players feel. They can come out of this series with confidence and keep building series wins and a solid stretch leading to the All Star Break. They need to keep winning through their toughest slate of the season, three each at Atlanta, New York Mets and Minnesota after the All Star Break. A sell off / White Flag 2.0 would crater long term fan support and any remaining cohesiveness in that clubhouse if they are in first or within a couple games of first, especially with their soft schedule the final several weeks of the season. "Keep Hope Alive" and "Don't Give Up, Don't Ever Give Up". Win it for and with Liam!
  12. Thanks, though I use fWAR for Fangraphs, since as it seems most here prefer. I do use bWAR / Baseball Reference at times, easier to navigate at times. Tommy Agee broke in with the White Sox, won Rookie of the Year and 8th in MVP voting his first season, an All Star both seasons. Tommy was traded before season three in one of the worst trades in White Sox history, and one of the best in Mets history. December 15, 1967: Traded by the Chicago White Sox with Al Weis to the New York Mets for Buddy Booker, Tommy Davis, Jack Fisher and Billy Wynne. 1969 Postseason Tommy Agee 36 PA; .896 OPS, 3 HRs, 5 RBIs; 3 SB Al Weis 16 PA, 1.196 OPS, HR & 3 RBIs
  13. White Sox Centerfielders Average fWAR per 162 Games (Games Played; White Sox fWAR) : Minimum 8.0 career White Sox fWAR Modern Era: 5.14 Tommy Agee (328; 10.4) 5.12 Luis Robert Junior (297; 9.4) 4.71 Adam Eaton (491; 14.3) 4.68 Chet Lemon (785; 22.7) 3.63 Aaron Rowand (579; 13.0) 3.09 Jim Landis (1063; 20.3) 2.95 Lance Johnson (945; 17.2) 1.52 Ken Berry (894; 8.4) Jim Crow Era: 4.55 Fielder Jones (1,153; 32.4) 4.26 Happy Felsch (749; 19.7) 4.17 Al Simmons (412; 10.6) 3.83 Johnny Mostil (972; 23.0) 2.69 Mike Kreevich (826; 13.7)
  14. Credit also needs to be given to Ethan Katz, who many wanted fired after the terrible April start by the Sox staff. He has helped the bullpen navigate the loss of Liam, incorporated two new pitchers who are doing very well after mixed results on prior teams, helped Lance Lynn settle down the past few starts and have kept the four core starters healthy (Clevinger was always an injury concern since 2018 - terrible pickup by Hahn). March April Scoring 118-183 (Record 8-21) 6.31 runs allowed per game May Scoring 133-123 (Record 15-14) 4.24 runs allowed per game June 1-25 Scoring 70-75 (Record 11-10) 3.57 runs allowed per game
  15. Both teams on the road next week, Minnesota traveling to Atlanta (.649) and Baltimore (.618) for six games in which they may only win 1 or 2. Meanwhile the Sox look to have a solid chance of winning 4 or 5, and an outside chance at winning 6. Realistic best case scenario: Sox 5-2 Twins 1-5 = Minnesota 41-44 & Chicago 39-47 2 1/2 GB Crazy best case scenario: Sox 6-1 Twins 0-6 = Minnesota 40-45 & Chicago 40-46 1/2 GB Anaheim RHP Dylan Cease (3-3 4.22) vs. LHP Reid Detmers (1-5 4.02): Chatham native Reid's first start against the White Sox, hoping the Sox can pounce the LHS. RHP Michael Kopech (3-6 4.06) vs. RHP Shohei Ohtani (6-3 3.13): Shohei's chance to impress White Sox brass for his upcoming Free Agency. All kidding aside, Sox need to be patient and extend pitch counts to hopefully get at their bullpen. Touki will likely be the pairing after 4-5 innings. RHP Lucas Giolito (5-5 3.41) vs. RHP Jamie Barria (2-2 2.14). This is a winnable game with Lucas on the mound. Barria pitched the Sox tough in May, but again working counts and getting to the bullpen a key to this one. RHP Lance Lynn (4-8 6.40) vs. LHP Patrick Sandoval (4-6 4.16). Lynn pitched awful in his May start, but looks to have turning things around this month. The Sox are 2-0 vs. Patrick, hoping success against LH starters continue to close out the series. Oakland Friday LHP Tanner Banks (0-2 4.50) & RHP Jesse Scholtens (1-2 2.31); Saturday RHP Dylan Cease & Sunday Michael Kopech: 3-0 needs to be the target, 2-1 worst case scenario, for the Sox to return home within a few games of first place in the American League Central. Oakland has gone 1-9 in their last 10 games, and hopefully are spent after their mini June rally around the boycott game. Let's Do This!
  16. Big Thanks to @2Deepfor starting the Win Streak, and @reiks12 for keeping the line moving!
  17. Let Robert Junior hit home runs and hope for the best.
  18. Third series win against an over .500 (May 2-4 vs. Minnesota, June 6-8 at New York Yankees & June 23-25 vs. Boston) and first home series win against a non-division opponent.
  19. Luis Robert Junior goes Deep Twice!! Bummer getting it done. Middleton now 5 out of 5 shutout innings in the 9th, picks up his second save of the series and season. People love to dunk on Pedro, but after having a couple months to learn his roster, has made good decisions, especially late game substitutions, to keep the Sox winning in June (11-10) playing a much tougher schedule.
  20. Great job by Bummer today. He has pitched well this month, .525 OPS in last 28 days. Sox will need him strong with Liam out for likely another month, perhaps longer. Hope Pedro goes Middleton over Lopez and Kelly for the 9th.
  21. Benintendi pumped for this series. 7 hits brings his OPS up to .729. .882 Robert Junior .811 Burger .761 Vaughn .756 Jimenez .729 Benintendi .716 Grandal .715 Sheets
  22. Nice game by Banks and Scholtens, nice job Bummer as well. Middleton, Kelly and Lopez available, hope they go Kelly and Middleton, save Touki in case they go extras.
