  1. This is the second straight game I woke up and turned on the game in the Bottom of the 6th, and Robert hit a home run each time first batter I heard. Perhaps I need to do this from now on. Sox still over .500 in game I listened to this season.
  2. The same guy who acquired Jose Abreu. https://soxmachine.com/2021/01/marco-paddy-indirectly-previews-impending-white-sox-international-class/
  3. Not sure of Hahn's thoughts, but with Tony gone, Jerry didn't have the incentive to invest further. These two signings didn't move the needle in terms of win expectations or season ticket sales. They also cancelled SoxFest before November, knowing they weren't adding payroll or significant players. Even Hawk was not optimistic looking at this roster, saying they weren't going to win the Division, would be lucky to be a wild card in AJ's preseason podcast.
  4. They may have believed in 2021 or 2022, but their offseason proved they were transitioning to sell mode for 2023. They flipped Abreu’s money for Clevinger and Benintendi, and backloaded both deals knowing they were shedding money in the future.
  5. He was a great pickup, worked his ass off preparing personally and preparing pitchers more the Cooper. Wouldn’t have matched the Mets contract, would continue to go for $2M-$5M acquisitions. McGwire and Collins would have been fine. Agree with Caulfield internal development is the best route. They gave up on Narvaez too soon. What the hell did they need to flip for yet another closer while tanking? And then Hahn signs Herrera for $17M a few weeks after this trade. Also pissed away $14M on juicer Wellington Castillo while tanking, and then $73M on another juicer catcher. Truly WTF territory.
  6. I am splitting my honour for one of my favorite all time White Sox radio announcing teams. Ed Farmer and Darrin Jackson wore #22 for the White Sox, and it is fitting both are honored for my 22nd Win of the Day achieved June 24th, 2023.

Does not include days I tied for first but for whatever reason was placed second / awarded Silver:

    • 3/23/21 (7 bmags)
    • 9/11/22 (16 Fathom)
    • 9/19/22 (13 Balta)
  7. I hope Yoan gets a second opinion, because surgery may be his best option for long term health. Can't trust the White Sox staff to give accurate assessments and or doing what is best for their players after recent history of injury mismanagement. @ptatc - Would like to hear your perspective in terms of what you know about treatment options for protruding disks, surgery vs. rest.
  8. Tim should been placed on the IL on Monday, this latest scheme to play him at 2B is ludicrous. He can barely field SS at this stage after playing there his entire career. It's not like they need his bat. Play Remillard, he is better at every aspect of baseball than this injured version of Tim.
  9. Sox will improve once Grandal is gone, he turns a walk into a triple, is no longer even a below average catcher at this point. Zavala has a .189 OBP in half the PAs and is still there with Grandal in fWAR (0.2 vs. 0.1). Perez is sadly not a catcher either. They need to get a veteran that can manage a pitching staff and is a major league quality catcher.
  10. And they find another way. Please retire Yasmani.
  11. Very nice inning there against the heart of the lineup by Kelly. Time for the Sox to add on here and Graveman to pick up his 7th save of the season.
  12. Hopefully Grifol leaves Kelly in with Devers and Casas due up. Duval is having a terrible series (0 for 7 with 5 Ks).
  13. A smart team would IL Tim until he is ready to play SS and hit.
  14. Through Friday June 23rd, Above White Sox Average: Benintendi .341 Remillard .333 Vaughn .325 Robert Junior .321 Frazier .317 Grandal .315 Jimenez .314 Sheets .303 Below White Sox Average: Anderson .284 Haseley .282 Moncada .279 Burger .275 Andrus .275 Colas .265 Alberto .261 Perez .250 Gonzalez .208 Zavala .189 Sosa .145
  15. Didn't get to putting the game on the radio to the Bottom of the 6th. Sox took a 3-2 deficit to a 4-3 lead after back to back home runs by Luis an Andrew.
  16. The White Sox are James Paxton's Kryptonite. Meanwhile, the Sox take the lead after Andrew "So Underwhelming" Vaughn's HR.
  17. Inspired by the discussion in the "This team will lose 90 games thread", and the pathetically low bar Rick Hahn hasn't come close to accomplishing entering his 11th season. The sad ass City of Chicago has three teams among the five leagues which have not advanced in the playoffs during the Rick Hahn era (Bears, Fire & White Sox), representing five of the nineteen teams. Detroit and Minnesota are the two other locations with multiple teams (Detroit Lions and Pistons & Minnesota Timberwolves & Twins). There are eight total teams with a longer playoff drought than the White Sox. Teams which have not advanced in the playoffs during the Rick Hahn Era (2013-2023): The MLB (5): Chicago White Sox (2005); Cincinnati (1995); Los Angeles A. L. (2009); Minnesota (2002); Texas (2011). The NFL (6): Chicago (2010); Detroit (1991); Las Vegas (2002); Miami (2000); New York AFC (2010); Washington (2005). The NBA (5): Charlotte (2002); Detroit (2008); Orlando (2010); Minnesota (2004); Sacramento (2004). The NHL (1): Buffalo (2007) The MLS (2): Chicago (2009); San Jose (2010)
  18. I joined here in 2020 (was on WSI back in the day), but there were solid posters here skeptical of the process over the three years including Hahn's roster construction, players drafted, and overpays on players signing their last significant MLB contracts. A few of us took s%*# criticizing the Grandal deal, or laughing at Hahn's GM of the Year award after a bogus season mostly bad moves during the 2019-2020 off-season, including firing Ricky after giving him an extension 60 games earlier, and the holes that were and continue to be issues with the club this entire faux window. La Russa was the final nail in the coffin in terms of expecting anything good to come out of this several year process. Ultimately this is on Jerry, because he should have started with bringing in someone to build a new front office and organization organization after 2015 or 2016. He only upped payroll and made support staff additions in 2021 and 2022 because he was doing it for Tony.
