  1. The Sox have developed / signed many top pitchers over the years, but Larry Himes's prospects signed over four years were the only legitimate core signed and developed by the White Sox in the draft era. 2. Chet Lemon was awesome, was really sad when he left the White Sox. Not necessarily a HOFer, but a far better candidate than POS Kirby Puckett plus a bunch of Veterans Committee hacks (pun intended) JAWS CF 21st (55.6 bWAR, 46.4 JAWS). Put my list up primarily to illustrate the gap between "White Sox Elite Stars" and actual "MLB Elite Starts", both now and in the past. Frank Thomas is the notable exception. Sad that Conor Gillaspie is Top 10 over the past decade. Eloy is "not worth the squeeze".
  3. Sox aren't at risk at just dropping below the tanking year attendance numbers. They are at risk of dropping below the all time new park era - the two post WS cancellation + White Flag Trade 1998-1999 seasons (not counting the two government lockout season/ partial season 2020-2021). Perhaps Chief Revenue Boyer can join Hahn out the door.

  5. Keep up the good work White Sox fans. This and only this might possibly impact Hahn’s status if sales numbers accelerate downward.
  6. The same losers lamenting the loss of the faux Champaign "Chief", Aunt Jemima syrup, and tolerance of open racism beyond their homes, taverns and churches.
  7. Thankfully for Scholtens, he plays in the AL Central and has more juicy matchups coming up. Welcome to my 2019 Thanksgiving Day. This is either Hahn's plan or Hahn and Grifol's joint plan.
  8. Cuda-ish update: Career fWAR - Current position player active rosters career numbers vs. Babe Ruth (current rosters with negative fWAR not included). 9. I can see either way, especially if sauces are on it. Now if he is eating a Snickers Bar that way, you're on to something.
  10. Kwan pulling a base running error. Didn't pay attention to the 3rd base coach per Len and DJ. Aggressive is good, but dumb is not.
  11. There was no credit for the steal of 3B with the caught stealing of 2B. Rosario has the lone stolen base for the Guardians in the first inning. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/white-sox-vs-guardians/2023/05/22/718072/live/live
  12. They called it a wild pitch on the radio, but were also critical of Grandal. Grandal taketh, Grandal giveth away.
  13. This. I was crystal clear these were accusations, he / she said. I simply answered the question as to a few of the reasons why some (perhaps many) of us are not comfortable being “entertained” by this person. Dont care if they have a 10 ERA or win Game 7 of the World Series, or anything in between.
  14. Perhaps Grifol does not have the authority to remove Tim Anderson from the lead off spot. I stopped assuming managers have the authority they did pre Moneyball era. Well, except for Tony who seemed to have no restrictions, but at times also no sense or logic.
  15. I honour Carlos May for my 17th Win of the Day achieved yesterday, just four days after the traditional celebration of May Day.

  16. But who is going to buy Jerry's September carrots? I prefer having only division winners in a playoff (two divisions in each League my preference) to the postseason I stopped following beyond a couple exceptions since 1993. Still enjoy on and off the regular season, but not as a means to an end. Not sure who is watching these playoffs when the ratings have been abysmal since 1994. I enjoy following the regular season. My favorite format would be international football, with relegation. Two Twelve Team Leagues (American and National for the Top Level). Round robin play - 14 Games vs. 11 Teams (154 Game Schedule). Lone Playoff is the World Series between the Two League Winners (at each level) Relegation of bottom club in each league (2 teams per season), promotion/relegation from/to Levels 2, 3, 4 and a 5th level open to new and established organizations. All the minor leagues will also be either American or National, to always keep promotion / relegation continuity, and also conduct Championship series for their levels (and also have the same round robin format). Give the system 5-6 years to get established, create new clubs, establish developmental clubs, etc.. Also give MLB teams 5-6 years to get ready for do or die because 6 teams are getting relegated after the final year of the current shoddy format. New teams can open anywhere, Chicago could have 1, 2, 3 or perhaps 6 teams, whatever economics, willing owners and demand would dictate. New franchises, if successful, could reach MLB within 5-10 years, depending on how successful their clubs are at each subsequent level. A Mark Cuban can come in and build a winning franchise in Pittsburgh, or Dallas, or wherever he wanted. Success or failure is determined on the field after a long season. As it should be.
  17. The two primary differences between Clevinger and Bauer are 1. Clevinger's accusations also involved children in his domestic violence versus acquisitions against Bauer and the primary accuser appeared more damaging physically and 2. Baseball came down hard on Bauer primarily because the Dodgers wanted to get out of a nine figure contract. MLB and the White Sox didn't have the same motivation ending Clevinger's $12M deal. Neither had criminal prosecutions, both relied on he said / she said, both have multiple acquisitions against them. If there was evidence Hahn and the White Sox knew and signed him anyway, I wouldn't be watching any games until ownership and the front office were gone (Reinsdorf, Kenny, Hahn and Clevinger). F Osuna, Chapman and the rest of them.
  18. Would be cool to expose the ten Central teams with all finishing under .500. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to eliminate the leagues and or return to the division heavy schedule to create an illusion of six or eight "quality" division winners, plus "quality" wild card teams. MLB Standings - Records vs. under .500 teams: AL East: 1 Tampa Bay 17-2; 2 Baltimore 15-4; 3 New York 14-4; 4T Toronto 11-7; 4T Boston 11-7 AL Central: 1 Minnesota 15-10; 2 Detroit 10-7; 3 Chicago 10-9; 4 Kansas City 8-8; 5 Cleveland 12-13 AL West: 1 Texas 19-9; 2 Los Angeles 15-7; 3 Seattle 15-10; 4 Houston 14-11; 5 Oakland 4-11 NL East: 1 Atlanta 16-6; 2 Miami 15-9; 3 Philadelphia 15-11; 4 Washington 10-7; 5 New York 15-14 NL Central: 1 Pittsburgh 16-9; 2 Milwaukee 16-12; 3 Chicago 11-10; 4 Saint Louis 7-9; 5 Cincinnati 9-12 NL West: 1 Los Angeles 20-8; 2 Arizona 15-10; 3 San Diego 8-7; 4 San Francisco 10-10; 5 Colorado 11-16 MLB Standings - Records vs. over .500 teams: AL East: 1 Tampa Bay 17-12; 2 Baltimore 16-12; 3 Boston 15-14; 4 New York 15-16; 5 Toronto 14-15 AL Central: 1 Minnesota 10-12; 2 Cleveland 8-13; 3 Detroit 10-17; 4 Chicago 9-20; 5 Kansas City 6-26 AL West: 1 Houston 13-8; 2 Texas 10-8; 3 Los Angeles 10-16; 4 Seattle 7-14; 5 Oakland 6-27 NL East: 1 Atlanta 13-11; 2 New York 10-9; 3 Miami 9-14; 4 Philadelphia 7-13; 5 Washington 10-20 NL Central: 1 Milwaukee 9-9; 2 Saint Louis 14-18; 3 Cincinnati 10-15; 4 Pittsburgh 8-13; 5 Chicago 9-16 NL West: 1 Arizona 12-10; 2 San Francisco 12-14; 3 Los Angeles 9-11; 4 Colorado 8-12; 5 San Diego 13-19
  19. James Fegan is the one White Sox reporter worth following.
  20. Didn't realize I won my 16th day on Friday. Will Honour #16 Ted Lyons, as this number was retired by the White Sox on his behalf in 1987. Ted Lyons actually did not want his number retired, wanted players to continue wearing it.
