  1. It's cold out, Eloy wants to go back into the clubhouse to stay warm.
  2. DJ has been the lone announcer (including those clowns in the TV studio) giving accurate assessments about what is going on the past several years. I'll take his assessment over anyone, paid or armchair here. PS - Please don't report him to Brooks, though I'm sure one of his 128 minions are scouring the message boards for any negative or neutral White Sox news.
  3. Did they save the cutouts, or did Jerry send them to recycling for $4 net of gas?
  4. DJ now calling out Fletcher for not throwing home instead of third, since his momentum was taking him that way. He did complement the his strong accurate arm and the throw he did decide to make. Can't wait to see these highlights on video.
  5. Well DJ called out Fletcher's over aggressiveness there giving up the extra base. Might not have mattered after the Torkelson single to noddle arm Benintendi. This game might be Ovah.
  6. https://soxmachine.com/2024/03/michael-kopech-is-sidelining-extra-pitches-while-jordan-leasure-is-adding-one/ Kopech expected to stick with a two pitch mix of four seamers and sliders. Was a 2 for 1 breakout last game. Leasure added a curve which has been effective against lefties starting in AFL last Fall, plans to use it sparingly.
  7. Changes from Opening Day: Detroit - Three changes: Carpenter, Kelly and McKinstry for Ibanez, Vierling and Rogers. Chicago - Two LHH against the RH Maeda: SS Shewmake for DeJong; RF Fletcher for Pillar.
  8. Pretty clear to most rational and decent human beings that trash celebrating the death of another is, putting it mildly, “fucking clown shoes”. Even NHL marketing people paid to pimp this garbage have the common sense to hide as much of this as possible from the general public.
  9. Chuck Tanner and Jeff Torborg were the two Sox managers who seemed to consistently get more out of their team and players than the talent level on paper. I agree with @CaliSoxFanViaSWside that Pedro inherited weak talent and depth, plus a poor clubhouse from Tony. Perhaps Pedro will improve in game decisions and also hold veterans accountable this year. The manager over the next few years will really need to be solid developing and mentoring the next group of prospects. Not sure Pedro is the best fit on that end without a lot of growth and guidance.
  10. And thanks for noting Cespedes was released in another thread. . @DirtySox, knew as well, you were right, thank you. I didn’t see his release posted on his milb page. https://www.milb.com/player/yoelqui-cespedes-673461
  11. Edit: I didn’t see his release in the milb website, but you and others knew of the release prior to it being posted. Thank you.
  12. I enjoyed watching this podcast today. Jim Callis covers the draft toward the end, but most of the first hour covered the farm system with some depth but easy to follow and appreciate even if you don’t follow the minors closely like many fans (including me). Will try to follow more this season, hope to find more breakdowns of the MiLB season and then post draft coverage by FutureSox. My Apple phone (7) is apparently too old to buy the “at bat milb package”, so sadly passing because I don’t feel like being tethered to a PC in the Summer. MLB never makes it easy to consume product, be it TV or online.
  13. Is it common to go into series with four total infielders, or are the rosters pretty fluid to cover even a day or two injury?
  14. A rotation of Cease, Dunning, Crochet and Kopech, the latter two if they developed them as starters vs. the half ass bullpen ramp out route Tony/Hahn landed on could have changed things in 2022 and beyond, Really need to just keep Robert and the younger players and add around as best as possible at this point, especially given likely limited payroll the next few years, perhaps next decade. Baltimore really needed a new owner this year for any chance at sustained success, and we could have used that as well here before Tony was hired or soon with at least a few decent players and pitchers on the horizon.
  15. Yes, you would need an extensive check list in terms of all the acts of malfeasance against the players unions (NHL, MLB), various degrees of aiding and abetting employing rapists (Aldrich, Boston), racism (GM and coaches for Hawks minor league team, Hawks continued use of racist trademark logo more repulsive today in society’s view than when Wirtz was alive), whatever role Rocky played in any coverup at NU in addition to his role at the NHL team. Career misconduct is a good work to cover all the s%*# Bill and others pulled against the NHL players union. You have Jerry conspiring for at least three substantial works stoppages including being the ring leader in the only cancelled World Series ever. Also have to weigh both Jerry’s and Bill’s role in installing Bettman, Jerry’s in installing Bud and removing any independence in the Commissioner’s Office, and his role in promulgating / extracting tens of billions of taxpayer dollars for stadiums, including one of two in Chicago (the Wirtz family did not do this). Bottom line, all three suck ass, but I placed the rape and racism issues above the taxpayer and player issues, with team performance last.
  16. Comes down in part on what the focus should be this season. Didn’t argue for Sheets in my post. My point it with two absolutely worthless and counterproductive adding even more veterans on the roster, including further postponing player evaluation and development. With guys in their mid 20s (Fletcher, Sosa, Colas), max their playing time at the MLB level to see if the Sox can salvage anything or move on with a clear conscious. Play in Charlotte is not going to prove they are ready. Grossman and Pillar aren’t going to be flipped for anything beyond say a one in 100-200 season 95-100% projection result. Play this cycle until one play should start near daily or be sent down with below acceptable production: Colas: RF (100 Games): Back up 1B (15 Games). Fletcher (starts only vs. RHP): RF (50 Games), LF (15-20 + Off Days, more of Benintendi continues as a 0.0 WAR player). Pillar - CF (off days for Robert, some Luis plays DH), plus a a few games monthly to keep fresh and late game insertion for starter rest. Grossman - Release or park in Charlotte if he is receptive. Sheets - Would prefer he return to Charlotte.
  17. No, a player can file a grievance if the IL is misused, and a GM can face discipline, though this seems to be netted out selectively like player suspensions. See the curious case of Billy Eppler for more details. https://theathletic.com/5264025/2024/02/09/mlb-suspends-billy-eppler/
  18. If you mean Rocky Wirtz, I concur. Blackhawks: https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/blackhawks-rocky-wirtz-angrily-criticizes-reporters-asking-beach-scandal/ Northwestern: https://www.chicagobusiness.com/education/northwestern-football-hazing-scandal-northwestern-board-trustees If you mean Dollar Bill
