  1. If he has a good minor league season by Sept, the Sox can go from 25 to 40 players, so I would think he would have a shot to see some time this year. However I do agree with you more realistically is 2022. Keep in mind though this is not your typical prospect of of high school or college. He has been playing professional baseball for Cuba for a several years and was the # international rated prospect.
  2. Ok fair enough. Let's just hope he gets to AA soon and we get him on his path to the big leagues whether its 2021 or 2022.
  3. Ok thanks! It just puzzling to me why its still a problem. I would think the Sox have enough money and clout to get though the red tape. Plus I never heard of this happening to the other recent Cuban players coming here. I thought he was here already and already defected from Cuba.
  4. Wow, not sure how you grade teams and pitching staffs. Not a A team and far from it? The Sox starting rotation ERA is #1 in MLB. The Sox entire pitching staff ERA is # 1 in the AL and #3 in MLB. With 30 teams in MLB,, how is our pitching staff not an A. As far as the hitting goes, the Sox are #4 in BA, #2 in OBP in MLB and #1 in AL OBP. They are #3 in runs scored per game in MLB and #2 in AL. You don't think anybody will agree with me. Maybe they all won't agree, but your claim "far from it" grade which I'm assuming you are calling them a C team, I seriously doubt that. Btw, multiple sites have the Sox as #1 in power rankings. That doesn't deserve an A? I guess there aren't any A teams in the MLB according to you. What is puzzling to me is why you give TLR a B and yet most people here probably think TLR deserves a C or D grade thus far. Yet for one the best teams arguably in baseball they are a B or C team.
  5. No, but numerous articles all said he would be starting the season in the minors at double A Birmingham and I was concerned 6 games in when I didn't see him on the roster and not on any other Sox minor league team. However i will check there.
  6. I'm done with you! You are absolutely clueless. I have no time to go back and paste all your insanely ignorant statements. Arguing with you is like arguing with a grade school kid. In the future you should make sure you check your facts before throwing out all type of non factual statements you cant back up.
  7. We have a A team so why do they deserve a B manager...which he isn't btw.
  8. I made up nothing and I have no need or desire to apologize to you. It's actually the other way around and you should be apologizing to me. I simply told you that the reason through 32 games the Sox had a better record than this year's team through 32 games is simple. Several of the core players were having a better season last year than this year though 32 games. I am not making that up. Go checks the facts though 32 games. These are factual published White Sox stats. I am not sure at this point why you don't get this. I am agreeing with you Ricky had a better record with less talent. However it's only because certain key players were having better years than they are this year...which made up for so called lesser talent. Why don't you get that? 2020 2021 Anderson .337/.378/.620 .296/.324/.449 Jimenez .322/.352/.652 OUT Grandal 241/.356/.422 .113/.378/.242 Abreu .318/.362/.667 .220/.317/.415 Moncada .261/.338/.443 .261/.362/.387 Robert .284/.331/.569 OUT until 2 weeks ago 316/.359/.465
  9. I think in time he will learn to take more walks as he does have a great batting eye. As long as he is a sold .300 hitter behind TA, I'm more than happy with Nick at 2B.
  10. Please quit this nonsense as you haven't come close to countering my original post. You cant seem to keep a straight train of thought on here. You keep adding new points which had nothing to do with my original post. You claimed Ricky had a better record with less talent. I only explained accurately to you, that the only reason that was true was because many of the key core players were having a better season through 32 games last year than this year. Plain and simple and that cant be denied. Once again this is not about this year's team being better than last year which it is. This is not about Ricky is better for us than Tony, he isn't...they both suck! I was just explaining to you why a horrible manager like Ricky had a one game better record than this year's squad through 32 games.
  11. I agree with you Tony is horrible, but your claim Ricky was better and should still be the manager is just crazy and dumb. They both suck. We needed and deserve to have a great manager this year. Btw why does it take TLR so long to make a lineup every single game?
  12. Exactly because he is making zero sense with this insanely stupid post.
  13. Well maybe his other Cuban buddies better help him like Robert, Abreu and Moncada who all made the same trip. lol It sure doesn't help when Birmingham has already played 6 games and their season isn't that long.
  14. Oh so I guess you think Theo is a better GM than Rick Hahn? Theo didn't win a World Series until year 5 of their rebuild. This is year 5 so wait until the season is over. Btw, this is the second time you seem to idolize Theo and imply how weak Hahn is. I'm curious wasn't it Hahn who fleeced Theo and traded Quintana for Eloy and Cease. Hmm, how did that brilliant trade go for the Cubs? Maybe Hahn isn't so bad after all!
  15. I know we have a better team this year. That was not my point. You were making this huge point that Ricky had a better record after 32 games with less talent. All I am saying is that kind of statement takes on many other factors. Ricky pulled that off even with a worse starting staff because through 32 games the team was out hitting their opponents and you can see by the numbers through 32 games. You also fail to recognize the bullpen last year was lights out and made up for a weaker rotation during those first 32 games.
  16. Thank god their best player Bryon Buxton is injured and out for this series.
  17. Does anyone know where our new Cuban RF top prospect Yoelkis Cespedes is playing? Everything you read about this guy is amazing and a future 5 tool star. Some scouts thought he was good enough to maybe by on this team by the end of the year. I read initially they thought he would start at Double A Birmingham. I went to check the rosters and stats at all four minor league Sox affiliates A, high A, double A and triple A and he is not listed on any of the rosters. I am excited to watch this progress of this potential Sox player and hopefully be a big contributor and finally solve our right field problem next year.
  18. What is your point? Do you know more than the rest of us and LaRussa is a good manager and we are all clueless and misinformed? We have an incredibly talented team here and a small window where we could win a few world series championships. The players and fans do not deserve TLR as the manager. For those of you who continue to rationalize and defend him is just nonsense. and strictly you enjoying being a contrarian. One simple question for you and all the other TLR defenders on this forum: If Jerry R wasn't the owner of the Sox, would TLR be the 2021 White Sox manager?
  19. Wow, you seriously need to read my posts better before making such incorrect statements. First of all, I am not blaming the players other than a few of the obvious ones. I have always blamed both Ricky last year and TLR this year. Secondly, go back and read my posts this season. Not once have I praised Tony. In fact, I am one of the most harsh critics of TLR on this forum. My only point I was making was the record last year through 32 games to 32 games this year was only better with so called lessor talent because some of the key core players were having much better seasons than this year. You clearly did not read my last full post nor did you understand it. The bottom line is Renteria sucked and deserved to be fired. However TLR should not have been the manager this year. They both suck!
  20. Wow, South Side Hit Men....I think you need to pay more attention next time to the point I make. The comments I made were from this post of yours: 19 hours ago, South Side Hit Men said: This comment is not pointed at you, but Ricky Renteria had a better record (20-12 after 32 games) with less talent at his disposal, and most here didn’t have the same standards and or provide the grace allotted to LaRussa. My point was yes maybe the roster was not as talented this year, but the talent he had were many of the same core players from this year. The point I was making is most of these current core players were crushing last year compared to this year. This is why Renteria had a better record after 32 games. Case in point: As of Aug 23 2020 when Sox won 6-5 over the Royals, to go to a (20-12) record and here are the key players and their YTD numbers after those 32 games: Box Score with YTD numbers after 32 games compared to their numbers YTD after 32 games this year: 2020 2021 Anderson .337/.378/.620 .296/.324/.449 Jimenez .322/.352/.652 OUT Grandal 241/.356/.422 .113/.378/.242 Abreu .318/.362/.667 .220/.317/.415 Moncada .261/.338/.443 .261/.362/.387 Robert .284/.331/.569 OUT until 2 weeks ago 316/.359/.465 1. Anderson was crushing it last year and at the time was leading the league in BA 2. Eloy was having huge year and your point of him on the DL is inaccurate. We were talking about 32 games and not the end of the season with Eloy. 3. Moncada relatively same numbers so your point he was recovering from Covid is not a valid point because he was hitting about the same. 4. Abreu numbers were obviously MVP like compared to this year. He was leading the league in RBI's. 5. Robert was having a great year and very similar to this year before being out two weeks ago. So your point that Robert missed time was not correct based at 32 games. 6. Grandal, even though he was having an off year to his previous lifetime averages, was having a much better season than this year. My only point you obviously didn't get, was several key core players were having a significantly better year in 2020 than this year through 32 games. Thus it's totally possible for Renteria to have a better record with so called lessor talent after 32 games last year. I was not saying the Sox team last year had more talent than this year. Of course this year's team is far superior on paper. I was simply saying the better record after 32 games was simply because of players last year performing at a higher level than this year. Your point attacking me that I haven't been paying attention couldn't be more false.
  21. Not even close to the same. Renteria was blessed with a hot rookie Robert who was early on tearing it up before pitchers figured him out. Eloy was having a monster year and now out. Eloy and Robert batting after Abreu also protected Jose so he saw more good pitches. Now they never throw a pitch to Jose in the zone. Hence why Abreu won an MVP year. Between Grandal and McCaan we actually got some production from the catcher's spot. Tim Anderson was leading the league in batting. Renteria totally screwed up the playoffs and deserved to be fired. However the Sox players and fans didn't deserve LaRussa as the replacement. LaRussa deserve all the blasting and criticism he is getting. I just wish Jerry would also feel the national scrutiny and embarrassment more. We haven't provided any respect or grace to LaRussa because he hasn't earned it! The Sox will win this year not because of Jerry or Tony, but in spite of both of them! They will win because they are a great talented bunch of young ballplayers who Hahn put together. If we can avoid any further injuries and hopefully get Eloy and Robert back for the playoffs, we will be one dangerous team to face. Let's kick ass this week vs the Twins and Royals and leave them so far behind.
  22. If he managed like this in Oakland and St Louis he never would have won jack crap or a single ring or be in the HOA!
  23. You're right he was suppose to be a motivator and bring his HOF credentials here to lead this awesome Sox team Hahn put together. However when TLR makes constant dumb moves during games and the players read and hear how their manager is being blasted by the fans and media, how in the hell can he be taken seriously and respected by the players. Btw, I've listen to many great motivators in my life and none of them spoke like this 2021 version of TLR does. He talks like a 76 year old who has lost much of his cognitive and physical skills.
  24. Yes, he is that horrific! He has cost us at least 3 to 4 games. The season is still young, don't kid yourself and think he won't lose more games for us. He doesn't know how to put a lineup together, and clearly doesn't know our bullpen in terms of how and when to use them. He still makes bad game decisions. I seriously don't think he even listens to his coaches. As far as the starters go, he has often pulled them way too soon. Yes when they only go 5 or 6 innings you need to use the bullpen which is as you say, is kind of common. However good managers use their bullpen effectively and wisely and TLR does not. The only reason TLR is here is because Hawk Harrelson fired Tony 35 years ago and Jerry didn't have the backbone or common sense to stop it. How ironic today that the same owner didn't have the balls back then to override his GM then and STOP the firing, but now 35 later. he has the audacity to override Hahn and make him hire TLR. I seriously do not understand why there is still all this defending of Jerry. He did these same dumb decisions with the Bulls...letting Krause get rid of Jordan and Jackson and keeping Gar/Pax too long. Again "we will win this year not because of TLR, but in spite of him".
