I think many of us agree a rebuild is needed. The debate is who is in charge of it? Does Han get another shot after the first debacle? Having said that, let's assume for argument sake, Hahn gets the blessing to handle another complete rebuild. Which current players on the roster do you keep and which ones do you trade? I am curious and being serious.

Burger started a successful double play in the Baltimore 10 inning game win. I believe he did not go through a "world of hurt" turning it. Regardless of how good or bad Burger is as a third baseman, I am confident his bat will win a lot more games, than his fielding will lose games. The fact is Moncada was brought here to play 2nd. He can play second! If the both of them make more errors between 2nd and 3rd so be it. If Moncada is as good of a hitter as the "pro camp" in this forum feels he is, then Moncada hitting and Burger hitting combined should win more games from their hitting, than both of their errors will lose games for the Sox.

I totally agree with you. Everyone keeps hammering home the point that Burger shouldn't be playing 3rd because he isn't a good fielder. Let's give Jake a chance because in 8 games he has only one error. Moncada has played 9 games and also has one error. I know that's a small sample size, but let's be positive and hope he does well, instead all this blasting him and calling him a one tool player crap. The harsh fact right now is, there isn't one player with his home run power on this team. He brings excitement and energy to this boring and bad team. Furthermore why can't Moncada play 2nd? Maybe he should lose some weight and get quicker like he was when he was first was traded for when he was the #1 prospect in MLB as a second baseman. Btw, if Moncada is so good defensively as many people claim in here, then he should be able to play second base and make the adjustment and transition. That's what good team players and athletes do for their team. It's not like he would be learning a new position he never played before. When Moncada comes back, it makes no sense to sit Burger. He either plays third or starts at DH over Eloy.

I agree it was the right call in 2016. Unfortunately as we now realize it was the wrong guy handling it. It's also perhaps time to do another rebuild. However if it's under the direction of the two clowns Kenny and Hahn, then aa rebuild should not be done. When a GM and his FO destroy a rebuild and make it a trainwreck, where seven years later we are still a horrible team on every level of the organization, you shouldn't be getting a second shot. Well at least they don't in any good organization, except of course for the Sox owned by the biggest loser in the league. If Jerry allows another rebuild with these two morons, then as Forrest Gump's mom said, "Stupid is a Stupid Does"

I totally agree with you. They brought up Goodwin and Sheets. Burger was and is batting better than both of them at Charlotte. Burger has persevered through so many injuries and I have nothing but total respect for him not giving up and keep coming back. He deserves a shot up here, especially as a former #1 draft pick.

I like this idea. You are right it is a horrible outfield with Goodwin, Vaughn and Sheets. Case in point Goodwin and Sheets both misjudging flyballs last night.

It's also a lack of getting stretched and properly warmed up before each at bat. Hence why Abreu never pulls his hamstrings because he is always doing stretching, knee bends and jumping up and down before each at bat. The players do stretch before the game, but many of them don't do much or any stretching after the game starts.

At our rate I'm sure we will be the new official record holder for hamstring injuries by the end of the season.

Yes, but here is the good news, going into today's 2nd Pittsburg game we are 27-10 against teams under .500. We have 43 of 89 games left in the season against teams currently under .500. Don't forget once we get Kopech back soon and Robert and Eloy also back, we should be fine playing in one of the weakest divisions in baseball.

Even though Rick Hahn has told us that Eloy and Robert are ahead of schedule and both due back by possibly late July...you are still a pessimist and doubter they are not returning. Btw, the Indians W-L record is 14-15 against teams this year above .500. It seems Cleveland plays that same brutal 7 game stretch our Sox just played, starting July 1 with 4 games vs. Houston and then followed by 3 games vs. Tampa Bay. We are already in the rebuild and it's going fine. Hahn has the Sox set up to win now and for the next several years. The only thing that could ruin that is TLR. In fact, instead of selling off, the Sox should be Buyers before the trade deadline and go all in! Finally, after today's game we have the next 7 games at home where we are 27-12.

I know right...that's because TLR knows how valuable Leury is with his whopping .238 BA and more importantly his amazing and productive .299 OBP which is so critical for a leadoff hitter.

That article was written only after his 3rd game at Charlotte. Of course the Sox medical staff was monitoring his progress, as they do with any rehab start for someone at triple A. However Engel played 4 more games in Charlotte without any setbacks and thus was deemed 100 percent ready to come back up. As that article stated, the medical staff told Engel he’s unlikely to reinjure himself even if he still experiences pain for a while. There shouldn’t be anything on the field he can’t do. This is nonsense Engel is being rested for a .244 hitter from Triple A, when in fact Engel is hot going 3-7 and 2 HR's in last two games. I also highly doubt Goodwin is a better CF defensively than Engel

I think is good optimistic news. If we get Eloy and Robert back by late Aug, early Sept, we will be ok. Hopefully we get Nick back too. We play in the weakest division in baseball. As long as we don't lose any pitchers, we should be able to hang on to first place until we get them back.

Where do you come up with these crazy assumptions? It has never been published anywhere by the Sox that Engel is playing under a 100 percent recovery. Here is a quote from Engel's Twitter feed after the game he took away the home run. "As far as being on the field, I feel about as 100 percent as I can be," Engel said before the game. "I don’t think that my hamstring — from a strength standpoint — I’m not going to be maxing a leg curl in the next couple weeks. But I’m able to run full speed and do everything I need to do on a baseball field, so I’m excited to play." Plus when did anyone say that Engel wouldn't being playing full time? What CF on this team is better than him or deserves more playing time?

He was already going downhill last year with the Nationals, as he only hit .226 last year in the shortened '20 season.

I agree Goodwin batting 2nd is a joke. However Engel looked good so far and he was starting to heat up going 3-7 the last 2 games with 2 HR's. It make no sense to rest him, unless he was injured and he isn't injured or hurting. If he was injured or hurting it would have been mentioned. I know he is coming off a bad hamstring injury, but the fact they took so long before bringing him back, means they made sure he was 100 percent healthy so they wouldn't have a setback.. Once Engel came back, he needed to play. My god, he only played 5 games.

This is a joke! Why isn't Engel in CF? He has played a perfect CF defensively as we expected and has 2 HR's in 5 games. Goodwin was hitting .244 BA in Triple A Charlotte. Are you kidding me...this is insanely stupid. Oh I get it, he cant hit in Triple A, but hey don't worry, Goodwin will improve and hit much higher at the ML level. We didn't need a CF brought up...we needed a 2B brought up.

All your points are sadly true. The Tatis Jr crap is a joke and mostly fueled by jealous Cub fans. The fact is Tatis was a unproven at 17 years old when he was traded from the Sox in 2015. News flash to all non Sox fans...we had a shortstop already in Tim Anderson. I get so tired of Cubs fans saying they can't believe we traded away Tatis. Always be quick to remind our Cubs fans that their executive guru Theo Epstein traded away Dylan Cease and Eloy Jimenez to our Sox for Jose Quintana.

Totally agree. I cant believe the people here always finding faults with him. Only one 2nd baseman hitting for a higher BA in MLB. Hitting .318 over last two seasons.

Sheets should be in the lineup instead of Garcia or Eaton.

Lynn definitely needs to be extended. He is not even close to be washed up at 34. Plus we gave up Dane Dunning to get Lynn. I know Dunning has been inconsistent this year for Texas, but hindsight is 20/20. At the time of the trade, Dunning was a hot pitching prospect and that's why Texas gave us Lynn. It's a dangerous move in giving up future good prospects for rental players, unless you plan on making a major effort in resigning them. Most importantly Hahn needs to resign Lynn because going forward next year, there are still question marks in our rotation with Cease, Rondon and Keuchel.
