  2. We have the rumor from NSC about Kimbrel, but nothing on the SP or RF front for a while now. Let's see if a fresh start brings fresh info.
  3. 191 pages and nothing major has happened. Maybe we need to kill this thread and start an "Offseason Part 3" thread.
  4. My extended family has Illini, Boilermakers, Spartans and Fighting Irish so yeah, Michigan is not popular in my family.
  5. What if the Sox have to eat $4 million to trade Kimbrel? Does that $4 millions count against the Sox CBT?
  6. You'd still have Keuchel and Kopech, which is exactly what you have now.
  7. If Rodon had accepted the QO, the Sox would have had him for $3M less than market value on a low-risk one year deal. If he declined it then they're in the same situation as they are now but with an extra draft pick. It was 100% a win-win.
  8. Now the White Sox are in the trade contention, the Twins and the Yankees are also pursuing pitcher Frankie Montas and Sean Manaea, per a source familiar with the situation.
  9. @Harold's Leg Lift any idea if/when we might see the next move?
  10. There are already 7 really good bats in this lineup, with an 8th still a possibility in RF. No need to shove Burger into 2B and make the defense worse. Fine with him working out there to be an emergency option though.
  11. Montas has 2 years of control compared to 1 for Manaea, but Manaea is better and I'd rather gamble that he'll sign an extension to stay home.
  12. I doubt it. TA and Jose appear to have emeritus status in the #1 and #3 spots and it's going to make this lineup less than maximized.
  13. I'm pretty sure Harold was on here earlier suggesting that there are multiple suitors for Kimbrel and that a deal may not be imminent. Sounds like a bidding war to me. Sox might even be running teams offers by Oakland to see if there's anybody they like to be part of a deal for Manaea.
  14. If signing a big bat is contingent on moving Kimbrel, then a bidding war could be counterproductive if it takes too long.
  15. Everybody wants to poo poo spending money on bullpens because, aside from closers, bullpen pieces aren't flashy acquisitions. The lemmings want the big names even if they aren't the best option.
  16. I sure hope so. I'd rather have Lopez start than this guy.
  17. What is the track record of teams who have allocated twice as much to the pen as the OF in the middle of the offseason, before completing all of their transactions?
  18. Something happening first doesn't mean it was a priority, it means that it was an easier transaction to complete. Is it really that hard for you to understand that?
  19. Everybody has their opinion on the Kelly and Harrison signings. The reality is that they can't be fairly judged until the entire body of work is completed. Those signings being done in addition to signing a big LH bat for RF/DH is very different than being done in lieu of signing the big LH bat. Potential trades of Kimbel and for a SP also impact the value of those signings. Shut up and stop talking about how horrible or how great those signings were until you see the finished work. There are some posters who really need to leave the board in October and not come back until April because they really don't have a concept of how to deal with individual transactions in between. Oops, wrong board. This should be in PHT. Can a mod move it?
  20. The only thing that might make me willing to pay a bit more for Manaea is that he's a local guy and that might make him more likely to stick around after 1 year.
  21. If there are no more moves, this roster is probably in the same neighborhood as 2021, but I don't believe that the moves are over.
