  1. Here's a novel idea: look at everything as gray instead of black and white. Throw a ticket tape parade for the good things they do and get upset when the fuck up. If you can't see the good things they do, then maybe it's time to find a new team.
  2. Hopefully two or all three of these: trading away Kimbrel, trading for Manaea, signing Schwarber/Conforto/Castellanos
  3. Every team is relying on nothing going wrong with their TOR guys. Nobody has 7 quality starters. Criticizing the FO is fine, but have some discretion between criticizing the really bad moves rather than indiscriminately being against every single thing they do. Not offering Rodon the QO was a huge mistake. Nearly everybody realizes that. Harrison might be a bad sign but it depends on what the rest of the final roster looks like.
  4. Fat guys age well so Lynn should be fine, but I think Keuchel is not going to be any better than last year.
  5. Harrison had a .741 OPS last year and Hernandez had .694 so I'm gonna gamble on the guy who was almost 50 points better last year.
  6. I'm OK with not signing him, but given the contract he got, Rodon obviously would have rejected the QO and not giving it was really stupid. Sox just gave up a free draft pick.
  7. Schwarber would 100% force himself into the top 6 of the lineup, and he's be light years better than a Sheets/Vaughn DH platoon.
  8. Fine. He has a 4.2 BB/9 and a 1.46 WHIP. He was better last year and I won't hate it if he's on the team, but he's not a reason to stand pat and not look to improve.
  9. Ruiz has a 3.94 career ERA, so he's not too good to be DFA, but even so Burr is probably the next man out and not Ruiz.
  10. Assuming Kimbrel is traded you still have Ruiz and Burr there, so one more upgrade would be nice, especially if it's a lefty so Crochet can be a long guy.
  11. You'll never convince Soxtalk of this. Around here, if you acquire any hitter with an OPS < .850, he's a bum and the team isn't trying to win.
  12. News: Kelly, Harrison signed Out: Burr, Gonzalez In: Kelly, Harrison SP: Keuchel $18.0, Lynn $18.5, Giolito $7.9, Cease $0.9, Kopech $0.8 RP: Kimbrel $16.0, Lopez $2.8, Hendriks $13.0, Bummer $2.5, Ruiz $0.7, Graveman $8.0, Kelly ??, Crochet $0.8 C : Grandal $18.25, Collins $0.8 IF: Harrison $4.0, Abreu $14.0, Anderson $9.5, Moncada $14.0, Mendick $0.8, Sheets $0.7 OF: Garcia $5.5, Engel $2.2, Jimenez $6.5, Robert $6.0, Vaughn $0.7
  13. I met his parents once. They live about a mile away from me. Edit: nope, I'm thinking of someone else.

  15. I'd rather keep Kimbrel than take on Cano if those are the choices.
  16. Iowa just banked in a 25 footer with 1 second left to beat Indiana.
  17. Angel Hernandez has been working with a larger home plate for years.
  18. That 1-7 is so awesome you can easily afford that 8-9, who, while not all-stars are not exactly massive holes. This team's window is now, not down the road whenever Vaughn hits his ceiling, if he ever does.
  19. Sign Kyle Schwarber. Schwarber is what Andrew Vaughn could become, except that Schwarber is already that good and left-handed. Package Vaughn with whatever else it takes to get a #2-3 starter with at least 3 years of team control. Kopech/Keuchel split time at #5 Re-sign Tepera Trade Kimbrel for whatever you can get. Sign Matt Duffy to platoon 2B with Leury. Platoon Sheets/Engel in RF. Lineup: TA 6, Yoan 5, Robert 8, Jose 3, Schwarber DH, Eloy 7, Yaz 2, Sheets/Engel 9, Duffy/Leury 4 Bench: Collins, Burger Rotation: Giolito, Lynn, [trade acquisition], Cease, Kopech/Keuchel Bullpen: Hendriks, Graveman, Bummer, Tepera, Crochet, Ruiz, Lopez
  20. The majority of posters here are Bears fans. Can we please not use goalpost analogies?
  21. Not sure why this is in PHT, but anyway it's nice that Joe Buck is going to MNF when there is a Manningcast alternative.
