  1. You need some way to reduce the probability that teams play 20+ minutes of overtime and put themselves at a disadvantage the following week. You still get your TV moment, as the Bills will HAVE to go for 2 to win the game. Also brings strategy into play as if you win the coin toss, do you want the ball first where you get the (almost) guaranteed 7th point or do you want the ball second where you have a roughly 50/50 shot at winning. Plus, most OT games aren't going to have both teams scoring TDs on the first possession anyway, so it wouldn't come into play that often.
  2. OK, I agree, unfair to running-centric teams. How about this: Team that gets the ball first in OT starts with the ball at their own 25. If they score a TD, they MUST kick the PAT for 1 point. Going for 2 not allowed. Team that gets the ball second in OT starts with the ball at their own 25. If they score a TD, they MUST go for 2 points. Kicking for 1 point not allowed. If you're tied because neither team scored, both got FG, or both got TD but missed their respective extra points, then in regular season games it ends in a tie and in playoff games you repeat.
  3. How about this for a rule change: Team A gets the overtime kickoff and scored a touchdown in 7 plays. Team B gets on possession from their own 25 and if they score a touchdown in fewer than 7 plays they win, in exactly 7 plays the game continues, otherwise they lose.
  4. A properly executed squib kick gets down to 10-15 yard line. Either the receiving team downs it immediately and has 10+ more yards to get in their 13 seconds, or they spend 5 seconds getting 15-20 yards and then there's only time for 1 play before you have to try a FG or Hail Mary, so yes, in this specific situation, squib kick was clearly the better choice.
  5. No opening weekend of the NCAA tournament can match this. Nothing can match this. Only thing that could come close is the old college bowl system where every once in a while you had 3 games that could determine the national champion(s).
  6. That was not the finest 13 seconds for the Bears' next head coach.
  7. At the very least, Allen needs to go down really hard next time they play the Bucks.
  8. Robbie Gould 20 for 20 in playoff FG. Is he a HOF?
  9. Lost in all the euphoria over the Packers losing, did anybody stop to ponder that the Bears beat a team that's playing on championship weekend?
  10. I was 4 so my memory's a bit foggy on that, but it sounds right.
  11. Could come down to a field goal attempt in the snow. Anybody wanna bet against Gould?
  12. Would Harbaugh pick the Bears over the Raiders though?
  13. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/five-mlb-trades-wed-like-to-see-after-the-lockout-including-yankees-and-phillies-blockbusters/ Would 100% give up Vaughn to get Marte, but not wild about giving up Montgomery.
  14. Stacy isn't the PBP guy though. It's far more tolerable coming from the analyst role.
  15. Especially if Schilling doesn't. Schilling is an ass and I hate almost everything he says politically, but his politics didn't give him an unfair advantage on the field.
  16. I always start with rates and lingo. Covers the most used consonants and vowels.
  17. Yeah, the Bills rode Allen to 7 straight TDs, but for the 8th drive, when they wanted to lose yards, they brought in a QB with experience at losing yards.
  18. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it was worth it.
  19. I heard so much about it I started playing it, but I don't know how long I'll keep it up. You just take 3-4 guesses to get a word.
  20. I'll probably watch all 4 games, but Allen vs Mahomes is the can't miss game for me. Josh Allen is my favorite non-Bear player.
  21. Four teams just didn't even bother showing up for the playoffs.
  22. I've noticed substantial variance in the amount of time it takes the refs to get the ball spotted and ready for play during a last minute drive. Maybe it's time to switch to the college rule of having the clock stop on first downs during the last 2 minutes--take the human element out of it. There was also a big screwup after the fake punt when the Cowboys wanted to snap it quickly to trap the 49ers punt return team on the field but they spotted the ball in the wrong place and then had to fix it and at that point Dallas ran their offense back out on the field and ended up with a delay of game penalty. I've just seen way too many bad performances from refs this year. They need to be better. I'm honestly surprised more people aren't questioning the integrity of betting on games with all the stuff that's happened.
